The Art School is a specialist higher education institution teaching at Foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate level, preparing students for careers as contemporary artists, conservators, carvers in wood and stone and related professions. This is underpinned by an emphasis on material understanding, traditional skills, experimentation and research, combined with art historical studies.

To Advance Education, Knowledge And Learning By Teaching Fine Art, Contemporary And Traditional Crafts, Conservation And Art Including Any Such Skills, Practices And Studies As May Be Concerned With Any Of The Foregoing; 2. To Preserve And To Promote The Skills, Crafts, Techniques, Processes And Other Knowledge Associated With The Foregoing Object;
