lem5 Qflhe opportunities offerèd to local communities Ihanks to the groth oflhe slafftoam This was largely
due lo the commitment and efforts of thè equivalent ol approximately 5.8 fv11 lime stsff plus the superb
commitment ol our vdunleer groups - we were lucky enough lo register 114 new volunteers in 2022. The
Fami was delighted lo he8d into this financial year kntrmng that it had secured a Ihree-year Natson81 Lottery
Reaching Communities grant. which has erta￿e0 il lo make and realw several exryting goals in 2022-23
and develop plans for implemenlalion over the next hyo years.

A core part of what the Farm offers the community is an opportunity lor people of all ages to connect with
nature and learn skills ￿lated lo the grwng and haryesting of food ￿ pnnupally do thiy through our free
Community Farming and Visitor session$. In 2022 (January lo December) we ran 44 community voluDleenng
Sessions. ne?rly double the number of sessions hosted in the previous year ￿ increased the numbei of
dnesday Wellbeing sessions, vthich offer a smaller volunteer group additional support from 37 10 45
8e$sions over the year. Overall, volunteers have ¢ontril)uted more than 2,200 hcK4rs of bme lo Ihe Farm and
enabled our communily to access th's space
As well as conlribuling their lime, pecoe in OUT ecthm￿l•ty also come to enjoy the nature. animals and special
events that lake place on our 2.5 acres site. We welcomed 1.097 visitors during our regular visitor sessions
and our hugely successful Autumn Festival. %thich saw over 1,155 peO￿e walk through our gates on the day
8nd raised £1800 towards the tsm)'s aclivib"es. Thanks to the Oxftrd Community Foundaiion. we secured
funding lo run Iwce-weekly volunteer sessions IApn"12022 to Ma¥eh 20231. The National Lottery has enabled
us to expand this provis￿ lo every Saturday frc*n Octobei 2022 and every Friday from March 2023.

Adverse weather condibons caused by the hot. dry summer of 2022. lollowthl by a long mild autumn, and
then a swift drop lo sustained sU￿ZerO lemperatures and low rainfall in the ￿nter months p￿sented some
challenges In addition lo a drop in the volume off¢)od produced. we also lost 4 out ofour S bee colonies We
have apweciated communty support to repair damage caused by frozen pipes and donations from the
Elsevier Beekeeping group to restore the colonies in our hives. produced just under 400 kg of fruit and
vegetables of which 88QA was distributed among vclunteers or went to local fc*)d larderslcommunity groups
and 12QA was either used by our kitchen. 5dd direct from the farm ry to other I￿81 shops. This not only
created connections across traditional socÈal divides but also yovided fresh local organically produced food
to the plales of those who may not ordinarily have acLess to it.

Our Growng Team is consistently engaged in the ongoing process of leaming and refining, driving innovation
and Change on our small-yel-mighly farm site. We have already made changes to make us more resilient lo
elimate shocks with a new polytunnel complelod in January 2023 and planned irrigation improvements foi
2023. We have quadrupled the number of growng beds going into the 2023124 growing 59ason and expect
to see a big jump in the amount that the Farm 1$ able lo provide.
The anlrnals on$ile rernain hugely popular. bul due to Issues wlth foxes we look the decision to rehomo tha
rabbl1$ as fox attacks hapw8d during the day. The anim81s confjnue lo aid our ability lo support education
and Iherapethic interaction with nature. We have invested in protection fgr our new polylunnel and re-skinn8d
our existing tunnels that were damaged by badgers. This was funded as Capital o￿ndIt￿re for sile and
infrastructure improvements directed by the ￿￿lIteS and B6llies group SLSPPOrted by the People's Health
Tfusl. We have plans lo expand badger protection in 2023124 subject lo funding and introduced 9oals in May
2023 to ensure that we bring new animals lo the farm.

weekly lem-lime visits 8nd are pleased that both relatlonshipy will continue into the academic year 2023124.
National Lottery fundlng m8anl that we could bulld on 8 successful ylol project that we inillaled when we
launched the community kitthen in 2021. This year, we offèred 86 fi&ld-l¢>fork kitchen sessions tor groups
such as the Children in Care Commission, Famability, Synan Sistgrs, Pauso and Age UK. Weekly contact
with co-fafmers Irom Fa¥m8billty be￿on April and November ènabled us lo develop new recipes and
ooklng ski118, the oulpuls ol whlch were often sh8red with people livlng in the residenliol h¢)me nexl door.
Thanks to tho National Loitery Fundlng this joint wort(ing Is something we have been able lo sustain in
2023124 with a growng partnor8hip of mutual support developing bofvfv9n tho tsvo organis81ion$.
Th8 proiect $uppprted by People's Health Tru81 lo target communitie8 from RosehS11, Littlemeie and 818¢kbird
Ley$ has gono from strength lo slrgnglh. The focus was to 8n8ble people to fom naw friend8hlps and gffei
each other mutual Support. The funder was opon to adaptions whlch also Saw us also pilot a toddler group
in addition lo the estsblished adult friendship forniing group. Thè Sessions focussed on animal core,
harvesting produco and creating a nutritious shared lunch thal can be easily recfealed al homo on a small
budget. This funding also saw tho arrival of o new teaching polytunnel and improvements lo the chlldren'$
play area including a sandpit. Vve securod bridge funding to continue the group untll August 2023 and gre
lively seeking funding lo conlSnue to 8UPPOrt this valuabl8 outreach work.
Our connections wrth otheT10¢81 org8ni$atron$ eontlnued lo grow and in¢lude new partnership$ wlh the OX4
Food Crew and Waste Innovation Station Hèadquarters as well as jolnt gvenls with Friends of the Earth,
Refugee Resourc8 and the Eden Project. We have 8uttèsslully delivered permacuNure. compostlng and
growng workshc¢)s, leveraglng relationships to hav8 a greater impact in our surroundirvJ commijnity.
We welcomed five new part-llme team members who joined the existing team lo make all these incredible
things happen over the1881 year, 8dding an additional communrty grower role, a kitchen facilitalor. an events
and communications officer as well 88 a finance officer and a maintenance tgchnician.

We were invited to submit 8 second stage applicabon lo the Step Change Fund in April 2023. This was
successful and grant funding is due lo start in May 2023. This funding will k transfomalional in enabling us
to develop our sile infraslrudure and ability lo zong differonl areas to safely a¢commodate a wider number
of groups. We wll see goats arriving al the Farm in June 2023. solar panels In51811ed on the shipping
containers Iforwhich we were granted pemianent planning pemiission In 20231 ￿ wll also able lo Increase
the number of chickens on-site to allow for egg sales that will help fund the animals feed and ￿81th Ca￿ as
well as install a yurt lo offer more supported se55ions to vulnerable groups throughout the year.
