time and during different fundraising events. About £5,300 have been realized for the project in 2021. The Naira equivalent was N3,494,000 at the prevailing exchange rate at the time.

The projects were all delivered between March and April 2021.

## **Education Sponsorship Scheme:**

Partnership with FlexiSAF foundation: In collaboration with the education committee, NNMI has successfully signed a memorandum of understanding with FlexiSAF foundation, a registered charity organization in Nigeria. The agreement was struck by both organizations to reduce the number of out of school children through active and systematic identification and enrollment of out-of-school children into quality schools within their communities.

**NMFUK Quiz** : The education committee has organised a series of online quizzes for young people. The committee hosted participants from the UK, Nigeria, and Saudi Arabia. Topics covered includes Salah (Prayers), The Holy Qur’an, Pillars of Islam, Months of Islamic Calendar, and the teachings of the prophet (SAW).

**Extra-school Lessons for UK school children** : Supported UK based

children with secondary/primary schools’ resources and lessons to prepare them for entry exams such as SAT, eleven-plus etc.

## **Health Outreach:**

Prior to the pandemic, the primary mode of delivery for a number of these objectives have been through health outreach projects and collaborative partnerships with other organisations/partners in health institutions. Health promotion talks are a vital platform that offers greater outreach to a wider audience.

The use of online and virtual platforms provided an opportunity to promote public health programmes. This was effectively used to conduct the first of a series of webinar programmes in January 2021. The topic of the inaugural webinar was on Covid vaccination; and it took place at a crucial time when vaccines were being rolled out all across the globe. With a host of international experts on infectious disease and public health, the webinar was delivered over the two days in two different languages with approximately 500 participants on each day.

In the post-pandemic era, the committee has adapted to new modes of virtual communication and meetings and have taken up this avenue to

deliver on public health matters. Webinars have been piloted, delivered in both Hausa and English languages with exceptional feedback received. In November 2021, the Health committee organised its first outreach programme after the pandemic. It took place at Rano LGA in Kano State. The 2-day project was organised and led by a committee member with the additional aim of evaluating new clinical practices and logistical processes that evolved due to the pandemic. Due to Covid restrictions the programme was limited to free consultations.

The health committee continues to organise similar online webinars on a quarterly basis, focusing on popular public health topics. The feedback from multiple sections of the targeted audience has been overwhelmingly positive.

## **Local community activities:**

In 2021 covid19 impact meant our local community activities have been stopped and some moved online. Weekly ta’alim in London have been moved successfully to Zoom. Additionally, the chapter have been special ta’alim session where important issues relating to the community were being addressed.
