Charity Commission Trustees Annual Report
2023-2024 Financial Year
The Trustees of Friends of Broomfield South SILC Charity present their annual report and audited accounts for the year 2023-24 and confirm they comply with the requirements of the Charities Act 1993, as amended by the Charities Act 2006, the trust deed and the Charities SORP 2005.
Our Aims
The aim of our Charity is to provide the pupils of Broomfield South SILC with extra-curricular activities, access to residentials, equipment and experiences that they may not otherwise have access to.
Our Objectives
Our objectives are set to reflect our educational aims and the ethos of the School. It is important to us that we maintain and enhance the academic success of the School. This objective is, however, set in the context of the broader goals we set for the School and its pupils.
In setting our objectives and planning our activities our trustees have given careful consideration to the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit.
Our key objectives for the year included:
-
Additional Fundraising towards providing pupils with additional education experiences e.g. trips, theatre groups, and outings.
-
Providing our Post 16 Students with equipment so they could complete their DofE Award

Our Vision and Ethos Statement
“Investing in Individuals- Transforming Lives”
We strive for excellence in all aspects of the life of the school.
Excellence in:
-
The quality of the learning which pupils experience
-
The quality of the teaching we provide
-
The richness of the environment in which pupils learn
-
The equality of opportunity we provide for all
We will continue to work together to provide a happy, caring and stimulating environment where pupils will recognise and achieve their potential. Our vision is that our pupils will leave school with the confidence to make their contribution to society, upholding a strong sense of spiritual and moral values with respect and tolerance for others. We aim to equip our pupils to take their place in society with high expectations of their future.
We value the partnership between school, parents and the community in realising our vision. This partnership will help us prepare for future developments, and support us in evaluating our processes to improve the quality of education for all.
We are a strong dedicated team with a wealth of expertise and skill. Our ethos of support, caring for one another and teamwork will help us move forward together to afford the best outcomes for our pupils. We aim to ensure that all pupils take with them happy memories of their time with us.
Our Ethos
We believe that every child matters and has a right to;
Be healthy, stay safe, enjoy their education and achieve their potential, make a positive contribution to society and, as far as is possible, achieve economic wellbeing.

We will;
-
Meet pupils’ needs and raise their achievements, so that, whatever the degree of learning difficulty, all pupils achieve their full potential.
-
We will protect our pupils from harm, help them to achieve what they want in life. To ensure that we maximise opportunities for them to make their voices heard, about issues which affect them as individuals and collectively.
-
Provide equality of opportunity for all, regardless of age, race, religion, disability, or gender.
-
Provide a broad and balanced curriculum for all.
-
Provide a secure but richly stimulating learning environment, which encourages curiosity, fun and a positive attitude to life where the dignity and worth of the individual is recognised.
-
Work in partnership with parents, the LEA, other schools and the wider community
-
Accord high values to achievement and cherish progress: small steps for some are major strides for others.
-
Respect and value the contributions made by all staff.
Achievements
We have been very proud of our achievements this year. We have been able to provide classes with additional play equipment to enhance their learning environment. We provided all the equipment to enable our post 16 students to complete their DofE awards, which was one of our objectives for the year.
We have made connections with a local business who have placed donation boxes placed in their shop. We have also registered with new funds raising schemes including the school lottery and the Class Fundraising Company. Our pupils designed Christmas Cards which parents could then purchase to raise funds for the school.
We also use our school fund to receive out of authority budget payments and then immediately transfer them back to the school budget
See below the details of our income and expenditure for the year.
