Annual Report 2021

Due to the recent Covid-19 pandemic, Naya Qadam’s limb fitting activities have been limited during the year ending in 2021. However, we are keenly aware that the impacts of Covid-19 have also been felt by the vulnerable populations we aim to support, and therefore have been using our resources to assist them through this difficult time. A large part of this has been in direct financial support, but we have also emphasised our work in providing clean water to communities in need, as hygiene and supply access have an even greater enriching effect for communities in difficult periods such as there. Much of this work has taken place within Thar, Pakistan. People there live in extremely dry environments, where clean water sources have been life-changing for the villages involved.

Our work in this region also included infrastructure projects, such as creation of hygienic toilets to support the health of the residents, and introduction of electricity using environmentally friendly solar panels which are well suited to the climate of the area, and create opportunities and convenience for residents using sustainable resources.

We have also been focusing on our mentoring and educational efforts, as support during this period will ensure that the tragedy of the pandemic cannot permanently limit the possibilities in our participants’ future. These efforts involve both financial support to enable recipients to attend institutions within their local community, thereby supporting local economies in this difficult time, but also direct mentoring by professional working with Naya Qadam, offering expert perspectives and advice to help the participants in these schemes to succeed in their chosen fields. This has led to some participants having achieved qualifications, including one who has recently become a doctor, and will be able to help his local community and act in the ethos held by Naya Qadam.

A specific focus of our educational goals has been that of women empowerment, a core ethos of the charity, and one that carries through all of our actions. In each area we perform work in, we ensure that a number of both women and men receive relevant training, and have included many women as participants in our mentoring and educational schemes.

As countries are opening their borders once more, we are preparing to travel to Nepal and recommence our limb fitting activities – working with local contacts in the area and preparing supplies to facilitate this.

Regarding the organisational and administrative elements of the charity, this has remained unchanged from previous years, and Naya Qadam is continuing to operate successfully.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 01 / 09 / 2021 .

Responsibilities and As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation basis of report of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have examiner's statement come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:
