Next tein) we are working with Andy O'Brien for Growth Group leaders tt'aining. l am excited to see the partneiEhip grow with the ministry at All Saints.

Parish of All Saints with Holy Trinity, Wandsworth All Salnls- l am delighted Éhat we have been working with Andy and the congregation at All Saints over the last year- notably in oui. Youth piY)ViSiOll and in the hainpers we deliveied at Christnias. I look foi'ward to seeing the partsieJEhip coiitinue to develop. Thei'e IEmains a big challellge with the buildiiig works.. the costs have spirall¢d, but we Serve a Loyd who l trust will pi'ovide us with ihe i'esources we need. Th¢ in)medÉate iieed is the repaii. of the building and, in due course. 1¢ would be greal to irnovate it. I was asked by one of the Standing Committee what Iny'wish list. for the future would be. Here are a few airas I would love to develop.. Community: Part ofthe Parish model is being the local church foi. all those in the Pai'ish. I would love us to op¢n up tlie churLh thi'oughout tlie week so we Can bless the community. For example.. liave Inidweek service and lunch, a foodbatth, debt advice. addiction recovery courses and Inany other opportunities to bless the cominunity with the Good News in word and deed. Klds & Youtli: Knvesting in the next genei?tion is not attractive financially {young people don't boost our inooEne!) but is crucial for tlie future strellgth of the church. I would love us tt> develop world-¢lass kid5 and yovth work that I'aises up the next generation of leaders to impoct this nation for Christ. I found in a bookshelf in the office an old family devutional from the 1850s. Wouldn't Lt be wonderful to see growing numbers of faniilies reading the Woyd of God iISFain? Comlliuni¢atioMs: God has placed our two buildings ot] one of th¢ key ai'lerial route5 of SW London. It bothers tne ihat mosl titnes I pass ihe fi'oiit doois of Holy Trinity and All Saints, they are fijrnly shut. It says to ine th￿ the church is shut. And we open Ilie doors (Sunday moiiiings) when most people are in bed! I would love tt> use our locations to communiL&ile ihe gospel in other ways- e.g. an LED sign that can display differeiit signs foi. different tiines of the dayl EV¢Dts. hiippening. maybe coinmissioning a sculpture for eacli sile (a lamb at All Saints. a lion at Holy Trinity?). maybe a visually attractive light show during Advent? It is a privilege to be serving as the Vicar and to continue buÉlding on the great foundations laid by Greg Prior and those befvre him. The cost of the All Saints repairs hav¢ led lo a significant reduction in our free reserves which will be ¢Dtirely depleted in 2024 and so, unless further funding is obtained, it will be necessary lo apply the Memorial Funds (see below) for this purpose. In the course of 2023, we were notified of a residuary legacy from tlie estate of Nina H¢rber¢ whi¢h is es¢imated to be of value of around £175,000. It will be maiiy months before probate is granted and the asS¢t5 of the estate liquÈdatcd but generally accepted accounling practi￿ requii'es us to account for this amount receivabl¢ upon notification. Thi.% Icgacy has been added to th¢ fuAds provided fiDm the estates of Antt Joslin and Myi'a Jones in 2021 and 2022 giving £39 5,517 in these Memorial Funds to ¢arry forward. The PCC would like to use these fuTJds for projects appropriate for thc mcmory of these faithfvl saints but it is possible that some of these fl￿d5 will be needed foi. the repair of All Saints Church. Total income cxcluding thes¢ items was £211,371 in 2023, which was just below the pi'ior year's equivalent excluding legacies of £213,693. This income rtrflecls only the f￿anCial gUPPOrt pi'ovided by church menibtrs and Do attemi)t is m&de to put a financial valu¢ on the huge amount of tlllie, energy ftnd tslents provided voluntai'ily. The PCC continues to be gYatefi)I foi. the generosity of chLwch membej's for this support. Total expenditur¢ in 2023, excluding the All Saints church IH)airs amounted to £201.245, which was up slightly on the £200,381 in¢urred in 2022. The net etTe¢t was an increase in filnds held by £122,460 (2022.. £209,829) of which the leg8oy Y¢¢eivable accounts for £175,000 (2022: £196,517).

The measure wl)i¢l) n)ost closely nialches giving frai￿ the churcli f&inily (voluDtary income excluding grants and legacies) was up l % on last y¢ar to £156,893. The aryangements with Christ ChurGh at All Saints weir waned during 2022 so that they now pay for energy costs but aJE ¢haJ'g¢d a lowei. renl. ReDt has also been reduced from the church building being totally or partially unusable dui-ing the repai￿. Total expenditure in the General Fund was £310.451 (2022,. £179,614). Costs excluding the chai'ge for All Saints i'epairs wei"e £171,215, a lower number than in 2022. Gi'ants and gifts weremade totalling £5,200 (2022.. £7,600). ITr additaon, a gift of £2,000 allocated to Theophany (Pgtul Mansaray) has not yet been made because we await the setting up of a bciieficiary aCco￿￿t at Stewardship, which has been delayed due to Compliance Tequll'ements. These decisions will not be made until the possible need for funding trf the All Saints repairs has become clearer. Restrlcted Funds The restricted fullds are set out in Note 16 to the accounts. The Cash balance has decreased by £23,878 to £323,080 (2022.. £346.958). This seems large but £81,443 (2022.. £80.777} of this money is set aside for the purposes of the restricted funds and £216,517 {2022.' £190.571) forthe Memoi'ial Funds. The ea8h balance available to the General Fund is just £25, 120 {2022'. £75,610). This relatively small balat]ce indicates that we shall have to dip into the Memorial Funds in 2024. io
