|Summary of the main<br>activities in relation to those<br>purposes for the public<br>benefit, in particular, the<br>activities, projects or<br>services identified in the<br>accounts.|Para 1.17 and<br>1.19|The Centre's principal activities are<br>grouped in a number of categories.<br>Social and recreational opportunities are<br>created through supporting various local<br>community groups that organise and run<br>relevant activities for elder local residents,<br>aged 50 or over, through Just Older Youth<br>(social and exercise), Southwark Irish<br>Pensioners, Deptford Pensioners' Society,<br>All Saints Line Dancing and, via its<br>Outreach activities that support vulnerable<br>members of the community, mostly elderly<br>local residents, through providing low-cost<br>hot meals, organising various social events<br>(e.g. special occasion dinners and parties)<br>and various outing trips (e.g. a day trip to<br>the seaside).<br>Health and Exercise activities are<br>supported through specific user groups that<br>provide free or low-cost sessions for local<br>residents, including Zumba, Ballet, Dance<br>classes, Gentle exercise for elderly, Thai-<br>Chi classes, Taekwondo, Kundalini Yoga,<br>Table Tennis, Fencing and Air Weapon<br>Clubs.<br>The Centre is about to launch a Junior<br>Football Academy which will target the age<br>group from 7yrs to 11yrs. The Academy will<br>deliver 80 football sessions (120 hours) of<br>1.5 hours, twice per week for the above<br>ages living in and around New Cross Gate.<br>This is the age when they might otherwise<br>start getting involved in low level anti-social<br>behaviour and crime. The academy will<br>support these children.<br>Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). This meeting<br>is designed to help former alcoholics<br>support one another throughout their<br>recovery journey while maintaining their<br>sobriety.<br>Activities catering for children and youth are<br>supported through Marvel Pre-school<br>Nursery, Treasured Kids After-school Club<br>(provision of low-cost childcare for working<br>parents); All Saints Scouts (Cubs, Beavers<br>and Explorers), Holiday camps for children,<br>and Taekwondo club for children and youth.<br>A large group of Centre users is<br>represented by community worship groups<br>and patrimonial societies meeting on<br>Sundays.<br>The Centre is widely used by training and<br>education providers, particularly those<br>delivering vocational training and other<br>education opportunities, after-school<br>homework clubs for children and other||

A special place in<br>education is designated for encouraging<br>socially responsible dog ownership in the<br>community and is provided via training<br>delivered by the Dog Owners Club.<br>Further, the Centre<br>hosts regular NHS<br>Blood Transplant sessions in addition to<br>acting as a Polling Station for<br>government/electoral bodies. All Saints<br>Church Hatcham Park is also a major user<br>of the Centre and hosts regular annual<br>events, including a Summer Fair and<br>Christmas Bazaar, the Mayor’s Carol<br>service and other similar occasions.<br>Finally, the Centre supports local residents<br>through hosting affordable private<br>functions, such as weddings, birthdays,<br>christenings, children's parties and others<br>similar occasions that are vital part of local<br>residents’lives.|

## **FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31/03/2023** 

The Trustees present their report and the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31/03/2023. The trustees have adopted the provisions of the Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) "Accounting and Reporting by Charities" issued in 2005 in preparing the annual report and financial statements of the charity. 

## **Structure, Governance and Management** 

Governing document 

All Saints Hatcham Community Centre is a registered charitable company. It was constituted as a company limited by guarantee on the 27th of April 2010 and is, therefore, governed by a Memorandum and Articles of Association. The current Articles of Association were adopted on 27 of April 2019. 

The organisation was also registered with the United Kingdom Charity Commission on the 2nd of September 2011. 

Trustee induction and training 

All Saints Hatcham Community Centre is managed by two paid managers overseen by a voluntary Board of Trustees. 

The Trustees are selected according to the following procedure: 

A Forum of User Groups of the Centre nominate a spokesperson; 

The New Cross Gate Trust, a local charitable trust, is represented by its Secretary or their representative; 

The Archdeacon of Lewisham and Greenwich may serve or appoint their representative; 

All Saints Hatcham Church is represented by the incumbent or Priest in charge; and 

The Parochial Church Council of All Saints Hatcham Park Church nominates the last three Trustees, two from its membership, one from outside.

The Centre's principal activities are grouped in a number of categories. Social and recreational opportunities are mainly created through supporting various local community groups that organise and run relevant activities for different age groups. A few activities are organised directly by the trustees and management. 

Health and Exercise activities are supported through specific user groups that provide free or low-cost sessions for local residents. 

Activities catering for children and youth are supported through Marvel Pre-school Nursery (provision of childcare for working parents) and a local Scout group. 

Jointly with All Saints Church, the Community Centre also organises regular summer holiday trips to the Isle of Man for local children on low income or from disadvantaged backgrounds. 

Several Christian fellowships use a room in the Centre for worship. 

The Community Centre is also widely used by training and education groups, particularly those providing vocational training and other educational opportunities, homework clubs for children and other similar activities. 

Finally, the Centre supports local residents through hosting various private functions, such as weddings, birthdays, christenings, children's parties and others similar occasions that are vital part of local residents lives.

## **TO THE TRUSTEES OF ALL SAINTS HATCHAM COMMUNITY CENTRE** 

## **FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31/03/2023** 

I report on the accounts which are set out on pages 4 to 11 

## **Respective responsibilities of the Trustees and Independent Examiner** 

The trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed. 

It is my responsibility to: 

Examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act; follow the procedures laid down in the general directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act); and state whether particular matters have come to my attention. 

## **Basis of independent examiner's report** 

My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a "true and fair view" and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below. 

## **Independent examiner's statement** 

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: 

1. the accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or 

2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or 

3. the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a 'true and fair view' which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination. 

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

## 1. **Accounting policies** 

The charity constitutes a public benefit entity as defined by FRS 102. The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS102) issued on 16 July 2014 (as updated through Bulletin 1 published on 2 February 2016), the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland (FRS102), the Charities Act 2011 and UK Generally Accepted Practice as it applies from 1 January 2015. 

The charity has applied Update Bulletin 1 as published on 2 February 2016 and does not include a cash flow statement on the grounds that it is applying FRS 102 Section 1A. 

The financial statements are prepared on a going concern basis under the historical convention (modified to include certain items at fair value). The financial statements are presented in sterling which is the functional currency of the charity and rounded to the nearest pound. 

The significant accounting policies applied in the preparation of these financial statements are set out below. These policies have been consistently applied to all years unless otherwise stated. 

## **Pension costs** 

The charitable company operates a defined contribution pension scheme. Contributions payable to the charitable company's pension scheme are charged to the Statement of Financial Activities in the period to which they relate. 

## 2. **Turnover** 

All incoming resources are included on the Statement of Financial Activities when the charity is legally entitled to the income and the amount can be quantified with reasonable accuracy.
