To advance the Christian Faith particularly but not exclusively through the provision of support work for artists and performers primarily with creative arts throughout the UK or the world. We are committed to equipping the next generation of artists with a Christian vision for creative excellence through individual mentoring, arts conferences, professional seminars and exhibition opportunities.

At trustees meetings our plans for the year took into consideration the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit. 

**Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)** 

Our focus continues to be on the development of community between artists of various disciplines and their role producing a thoughtful and dynamic creative culture. This has happened through the organizing of monthly gatherings in Scotland and London, an annual conference, monthly lecture series and regular exhibitions. The gatherings, lectures and conference provide a place for dialogue on the issues facing artists. We provided a number of speakers who have taught and advised in the areas of art and faith and how artists can contribute to society. Nomas* Projects and Sharing Not Hoarding – two gallery/project spaces in Scotland provide opportunities for artists to exhibit and develop their professional practice. The galleries have also provided opportunities for us to connect better with the arts communities and to partner with other art groups, galleries, city council and art institutions. The galleries enable inclusion of a relationship between an often un-heard Christian voice in the arts and cultural developments happening in the UK. Exhibitions have included local, national and international artists. 

All artists are welcome regardless of different faith positions or none. We offer weekly individual mentoring sessions for our artists where discipleship issues of faith and character are discussed as well as the practical concerns of the graduates in establishing a career in the arts.

A number in our network contribute voluntarily in administration tasks and the preparation of monthly events and exhibitions and conferences. We value their efforts, time and help and are encouraged that they want to partner with us. 

In an effort to raise funds we make applications to regular supporting trust funds.

In the year 2019-2020 the London Morphē Arts group have hosted a **Summary of the main** series of mentoring and art events both online and in the real. After the **achievements of the charity** Covid-19 lockdown most of our programme moved to digital platforms. **during the year** The Make Good Lectures were hosted on zoom once a month. Crit groups, individual mentoring and artists discussion groups were likewise hosted on various digital platforms. **Mentoring Groups** In our monthly group for early career painters we have been reading T.J. Clarke’s book, _Heaven on Earth_ as a starting point for conversation about faith and art. Our Critical Theory Group has been working towards an online publication, a journal of critical writing in response to discussions in the group. The Performers Group has continued to meet every two weeks for peer mentoring and bible study. **Make Good Lectures** For the Make Good lecture series we hosted nine lectures that take the broad theme of the good art can serve in society. Prior to the lockdown we had lectures from art historian Sara Schumacher and Elizabeth Oldfield, director Theos Think Tank. After the programme went online we were able to reach a wider variety of people through zoom. Some joining the call from across Europe, the Middle East and the United States. Speakers have included artist Kaori Homma, Adrienne Dengerink Chaplin, Giuseppe Marosco, writer Bobette Buster, and filmmaker Luke Walton. We continue to sell books through our on line publishing house.  As a publisher we commission and distribute small books on Christianity and the Arts. This includes a series of bible study books for artists, musicians and designers. We continue to make use of ‘After’ - our graduate resource handout. The London team have 2 staff workers assisting the director Alastair Gordon. Eleanor Young works part-time as a mentor to performing artists and is responsible for our performing arts programme and monthly gatherings. Sarah White also works part time. She also works as a mentor and heads up the monthly critical theory group. One of our volunteer members runs a writers group that meet monthly in London. We provided 3, Arts and Faith based training sessions for UCCF: The Christian Unions arts interns. Additional conferences and events that we were involved in within this year included contributing to the UCCF student conference in September and hosting the creative arts programme at the Keswick Convention in July. **International Prayer Room** Since the beginning of the pandemic we have hosted an online prayer meeting every morning. The group has met for half an hour on zoom every week day since the onset of lockdown in the UK. This group has been a great support for individuals in isolation and has also been a lifeline to artists who might not usually be able to join us at real life events. **The Artists Benevolent Fund** As many actors and artists in our network lost income due to covid-19 we responded by launching an Artists’ Benevolent Fund, offering small grants to artists most affected through loss of income. The project was crowd funded and over 125 grants of £200 have been given. **Interface Conference** We hosted our annual Interface arts conference in February at Leith School of Art bringing together over 80 artists from across the UK.  The theme Art and Action was responded to by our speakers – Artist David Mach, curator David Patterson from Edinbugh City Arts Center and Artist and activist Kaori Homma. Our evening program was a performance by

comedienne Anna Nicholson. In Dundee, the gallery space Nomas* Projects in Dundee enables exhibiting opportunities and contributes in a meaningful way to the arts community. Partnerships developed include the city council, Wasps artist studios, Creative Dundee and NEoN Digital Arts Festival. Nomas* Projects hosted 10 exhibitions from respected artists in the UK and abroad. We also run artists’ talks in local artist led space Generator Projects. Sharing Not Hoarding – the open-air gallery poster space set up in Dundee’s waterfront development area near to the V&A building programmed 6 exhibitions for the year. The vision for this space is to encourage and give voice to the public regarding the waterfront developments in the city and the use of public space. Despite lockdown, Both our gallery projects were able to keep running due to the ‘open air/public nature’ of the spaces. We offered a unique contribution in the arts community during lockdown this year. The monthly Morphē Gathering continues in Glasgow with a regular venue in the ‘Wasps’ studio of one of the artists in the network. This provides opportunity for artists to ‘show and tell’ their work and a place to discuss issues of art and faith. The gathering enables networking and support between artists of varying disciplines in the city. As lockdown hit during the year, all our gatherings and Nomas* artists talks moved from in person venues to online. While this took some adjusting we found that numbers attending events increased and our audience reach became wider nationally and even internationally. Ongoing weekly individual mentoring sessions for our artists is one of our main achievements of the year. It is also one of the harder things to quantify as lives are constantly changing but below are comments and feedback from some of those who have been mentored and supported by what we do and in particular from those who have benefitted from the benevolent fund grants. At this particular time, it is a great encouragement to see how you are supporting people in the network. Morphe Arts has offered me such a deep, seemingly bottomless well of comfort and support over the past year or so, and I am overwhelmed by the kindness shown by all those representing the group. I have found the past few months very difficult, and even when I found it hard to participate in Zoom calls and online Morphe activities, Ally reached out to me personally, offering me guidance and support in my current situation. After encountering more financial difficulty in the recent months, I wondered whether it would be appropriate to apply for the Morphe Arts bursary, and was encouraged whole heartedly to do so. I felt incredibly moved that Morphe Arts had not only come up with this scheme almost immediately as lockdown began, but has kept it going throughout these past few months, and now has been gifted to me in an hour of need. I wanted to express how incredible Morphe has been in supporting and encouraging Christian artists, reminding us all that God will carry us through this, and that we will be cared for in ways we could not have anticipated. Thank you so very much for all the great work you have been doing, and I shall pray for it to continue, as you go on to transform and support many lives touched by Morphe Arts._

Our funding sources are a combination of individual donors, churches and trust funds. These valuable contributions have enabled us fulfill our key objectives in offering mentoring support to artists.
