Structure, Governance and Management
Kent Pentecostal Church is a charity registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales under registration number 1143354. The charity is governed by its constitution and is administered by its trustees, who meet regularly throughout the year to oversee its activities, to set its direction and to manage its finances. Pastor Anand Puthenpurackal serves as Senior Pastor and provides spiritual leadership across the church.
The charity is one church family worshipping across three locations. The main congregation gathers in Maidstone, and the charity oversees two branch congregations in Southend-on-Sea and Folkestone, both of which operate under the leadership and spiritual oversight of the main church. This structure enables the charity to serve a wider community while maintaining consistent governance and accountability across all three locations.

Reflecting the diversity of its church family, the charity holds worship services in English, Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi, ensuring that members of all backgrounds can participate fully in the life of the church.
Objectives and Activities
The objects of the charity are, first, to advance the Christian faith in accordance with its statement of beliefs, for the benefit of the public in the United Kingdom and in such other parts of the world as the trustees may from time to time think fit.
The trustees confirm that they have had due regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit when deciding what activities the charity should undertake. The charity pursues its objects through a broad programme of ministry delivered across its three congregations, including:
-
Weekly worship services – Spirit-filled gatherings of worship, prayer and biblical teaching held every Sunday.
-
Children and youth ministry – Sunday school and youth programmes providing a safe, faithfilled environment for young people to learn and grow.
-
Pastoral care and counselling – Christ-centred guidance and support for members and others in the community.
-
Benevolence and outreach – Practical care and support for those in need within the wider community.
-
Special events – Prayer nights, fasting prayers, family gatherings and other events that build faith and fellowship.
Achievements and Performance
The charity held successful meetings throughout the year across all three locations, in which individuals were equipped and educated in the principles and doctrines of the Christian faith. Alongside its regular Sunday services, the charity held combined worship gatherings, family gettogethers and its inaugural KPC Bible Quiz, which were well attended and helped to strengthen fellowship across the church family. The trustees are encouraged by the continued growth in attendance and in the offerings and tithes received.
A particular highlight of the year was the charity’s investment in two significant assets that will support its activities for many years to come:
People carrier van – The charity acquired a people carrier van during the year. The vehicle enables the church to arrange trips and to provide pick-up and drop-off transport for members, helping those who would otherwise find it difficult to attend across its three locations. When not required for the charity’s own use, the van is also hired out, generating additional income that supports the charity’s wider work.
Sound system – The charity invested in a new sound system that meets current health and safety standards. The system improves the quality and accessibility of services for the congregation and helps to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all who attend.

Financial Review
The charity’s income for the year, drawn principally from offerings and tithes, was higher than in the previous year, and the trustees are encouraged by this continued growth. During the year the charity invested in the people carrier van and the new sound system, funded from its accumulated reserves. After this investment, the charity’s income and expenditure for the year were broadly in balance. Full details of the charity’s receipts and payments for the year are set out in the accompanying accounts.
Property
The charity owns land and a church building at Mount Pleasant, Paddock Wood, Kent. This building is not currently in use, as it is some distance from the main congregation, which is now based in Maidstone. While the trustees consider the most appropriate long-term use of the property – whether to find an alternative use for it or to dispose of it – the main congregation meets in rented premises at the Baptist Church Hall in Maidstone on Sunday afternoons.
Reserves
The charity maintains cash reserves, a substantial part of which is held in a dedicated building fund. These funds are being set aside specifically towards the purchase of a permanent church building for the congregation, which the trustees regard as an important priority for the charity’s future. The remaining reserves are held as free reserves to meet the day-to-day running costs of the charity. The trustees consider the level of reserves to be appropriate for a charity of this size and nature.
Plans for the Future
The trustees intend to continue the charity’s programme of worship, teaching, pastoral care and outreach across its main and branch congregations. A key priority for the coming period is to secure a permanent church building for the congregation, supported by the dedicated building fund, and to reach a decision on the future of the property at Paddock Wood. The trustees will also continue to support the work of the Southend-on-Sea and Folkestone congregations and seek opportunities to extend the charity’s benefit to the wider community.

Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).
The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Act and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
-
examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act,
-
to follow the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the Act, and
-
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner’s statement
Independent examiner's statement
My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
In connection with my examination, no material matters have come to my attention which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect,:
-
the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Act; or
-
the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or
-
the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
