## **Governing Document** 

Sangat Purchar Sabha & Cultural Cohesion Centre is constituted as a charitable trust registered with the Charity Commission **15[th] August 2011** under charity number **1143348.** 

## **Organisational Structure** 

The charity trustees are responsible for the effective management and general control of the day-to-day activities of the charity. Trustees give their time freely and receive no remuneration or other financial benefits from their position. 

## **Objectives and Activities** 

The objectives of the charity are set out in the constitution and are summarised as follows: 

1. To advance the Sikh religion for the benefit of the public through the holding of prayer meetings, lectures [public celebration of religious festivals] producing and/or distributing literature on [Sikh faith, its principles, guidance which embraces and promotes the following: Cohesion, Inclusion, Equality, Wellbeing, Diversity, Charity & Sewa Note “SEWA” Translated literally; means “unconditional charitable acts and deeds for mankind, the preservation of God’s creations & planet” which one would not require or expect anything in return for doing] to enlighten others about the Sikh religion. 

2. To further or benefit the public without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions by associating together the said residents and the local authorities, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to advance education, preserve and protect health and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation leisure time occupation with the objective of improving the conditions of life of the said public. 

3. The promotion of religious harmony for the benefit of the public by: [for example] Educating the public in different religious beliefs including an awareness of their distinctive features and their common ground to promote good relations between persons of different faiths; Promoting, knowledge and mutual understanding and respect of the beliefs and practices of different religious faiths.” 

## **Community Engagement:** 

Sangat Purchar Sabah Gurdwara actively engaged with the local community through various outreach programs. We collaborated with local schools, charities, and other religious organisations to promote understanding, tolerance, and goodwill among different cultural and religious groups. 

## **Infrastructure Development:** 

The trustees and volunteer undertook several initiatives to enhance the infrastructure of the Gurdwara. This included renovation projects, maintenance of facilities, and improvements to make the premises more accessible and comfortable for our visitors.

## **Future Plans** 

Looking ahead, there are ambitious plans to expand community outreach, renovate facilities, and initiate educational programs to further enrich the lives of members and local community. There is commitment to make Sangat Purchar Sabah Gurdwara a centre of spiritual enlightenment, education, and compassion. 

## **Financial Summary** 

The financial performance remained stable thanks to the unwavering support of the dedicated congregation. Funds are managed judiciously, ensuring that donations are utilised effectively for the maintenance and improvement of the Gurdwara premises. 

The charity’s main source of income was generated from charitable donations which amounted to £23,324 compared to £18,494 in the previous year. Total income increased by c.94% from £18,494 to £35,867 largely due to grant funding received in 2022. Expenditure also increased by 38% from £20,177 to £27,926. 

The charity holds reserves of £25,764 which are unrestricted funds. These funds are held in order to meet any unforeseen expenditure which may occur. 

These funds have not been designated for any specific use, however, should be maintained at a level equivalent to three to six month’s expenditure. The trustees are content that this level of reserves will ensure the charity is able to continue its current activities in the unforeseen event of a significant drop in funding. 

The trustees assessed the major risks the charity is exposed to, and are satisfied that there are systems in place to mitigate the charities exposure.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Sangat Purchar Sabha (the Trust)
for the year ended 31" December 2022.
Responslblllttes and basls of report
As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in
accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 20111'the Act'l.
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under section 145 of the
2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by
the Charity Commission under section 14515llbl of the Act.
Independent examiner's statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in
connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect..
accounting records were thot kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the
Act,. or
2. the accounts do not accord with those records.
I have no concerns and I have not come across any other material matters in connection with the
examination to which attention sliould be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper
understanding of the accounts to be reached.

I report to the trustees on my examina�on of the accounts of the Sangat Purchar Sabha (the Trust) for the year ended 31[st] December 2022. 

## **Responsibili�es and basis of report** 

As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the prepara�on of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Chari�es Act 2011 (‘the Act’). 

I report in respect of my examina�on of the Trust’s accounts carried out under sec�on 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examina�on I have followed all the applicable Direc�ons given by the Charity Commission under sec�on 145(5)(b) of the Act.
