Significont ortivities The prime activity continues to be the drillln8 of wells. All funds are directed to v￿115 projects, unless the donors specifically request that their donation be used toward5 one of the other Object5 set out above. While drilling new boreholes is the principal activity, Myra's Wells is happy to fund projects to repair and restore non-functionlng we115 if this is Cost effective. When reviewin8 applications for we115, the question "Are there any non-funttionin8 wellsf is key to a decision being made about drillin8 a new borehole. Myra's Wells 31° August 2024 Overall, for the 21 new well projects. there were 271)oreholes drilled meaning 1.29 boreholes per projert. This is also a better rate than the 1.42 iK•reholes per project in the previous year. As a Christian chafity, we acknowledge God's goodness. There has been no chan8e to procedures to produce this result. In addition it should be noted that one projert. where three boreholes were drilled. has both a water tower on one borehole and a hand pump on another borehole. More about this is noted below. Successful new well projerts Of the 21 successful new wells projects, 16 were finished with hand pumps and 5 were finished with watertowers. The main areas of operation have been in the following regions of 8urkina Faso: Cascades & Sud-ouest Centre & Centre Sud Cenlre-Nord & Boucle du Mouhoun Centre-ouest Plateau-central io Centre ond Centre-sud These reglons include Oua8adougou and other places towards the west and south whlch are wlthln about 40 miles of Ouagodou8ou. The security within this area is considered good with little, or no real threat, to operations. The fact of proximity to the capital is no guarantee of having clean water available and there are many reque5t5 for help. The towns in this area are rapidly growin& especially around the edge of Ouagadougou and houses are built, with little or no plannin& and always without a supply of clean water. As In the previous year, there have been a good number of new wells in the Ouagadougou area. There is population growth in this area driven ty two factors.. The better economic prospects presented by the capital,. The continued mlgration of Internally Displaced Persons from the areas still affected by the Jihadist violence. Where sources of clean water are already available, there is often a huge demand with long queuing time for a turn to use the pump or taps. The existence of water will attract movement to the area which only increases the pressure on the available resour￿5. MyTa's Wells Icharity Number 1143345) Page 4

Myra's Wells 31 August 2024 For thi5 reason. it 15 almost essential that boreholes are finished with solar pumps and water towers which can cut the time to fill containers to a quarter of the time needed at a hand pump. I three of the conversson lupgradel projects were at wells in Ouagadougou provided prewously by Myra's Wells and finished ori8inally with hand pump5. One was the very first Myra's Well at Zongo. Here. when the borehole was drilled in 21x16. there area was the edge of Ouagadougou. The city now extends another kilometre or more beyond and a water tower wa5 really needed. The stories were similar at the other two locations in Yagma and Sabten8a. Centre-Oue5t Thls area centres largely around Koudougou whlch, In common with other large towns, has seen huge increases in population. Two of the trustees visited the area in January and saw tremendous need in some places. The decisions about hand pumps or water towers are less obvlous than In Oua8adou8ou. It depends upon the local conditions. One place vislted in January was a village no more than five miles from the centre of Koudougou, but where the local people were still using a traditional open well. One man claimed to be 89 year5 old and had never had dean water available to him. This was one of the five projects undertaken in the area. Cascades & Sud4)uest These regions include parts of Burkina Faso that are furthest from Ouagadougou. Four of the five projerts here were at least 490 .& * kllometres from the capltal. It is an area that feels forgotten by the central administration and has also suffered from exiremist activity. The security situation 5eem5 to have been stabilised to some extent here ané Myra's Wells has been able to help sorne very needy villages. The phot05 that we received with the requests from the area very often show women and chlldren at a rrver collecting dirty water to drink. Myra's Wells Icharity Number 1143345) Page 5

Myra's Wells 31" August 2024 One of the projects in this orea was a repair to an existing hand pump installed manv years ago. The borehole was good, but constant use of the pump had brought it to the end of its life. Centre-Nord & Boucle du Mouhoun These areas present two potential problem5. Firstly, they are more Vulneral￿e to extremist attacks and secondly, it can be hard to find water when drilling. However. partly because of these problems. there is great need. One of the wells was needed betause of huge numbers of Internally Displaced People arriving fleeing the violence further north east. The pictures we received before agreeing to drill showed hundred5. if not thousands of containers waiting to be filled from a tanker sent by the government to give water to hundreds of people. Even now. with the new well, the queues are long and at the point of wrifing this report in Decernber 2024, we are happy to say that further well has been provided in this area durin8 the new financial yeai. Ploteau-centrol This is the area to the north of Ouagadougou. It is relatively safe compared with the Centre-Nord area further north, but shares the problem of being difficult to find water when drilling. One of the wells here needed three l)oreholes before a sUStainable source of water was found. The other well was at a vill38e where a new distrirt had no easy access to water. Finishing options The two finishin8 Options that are available are Hand pump with a Concrete surround and cattle drlnkin8 trou8h: Solar powered pump wlth a water t¢)wer and taps. The relative cost differences are indicated in the "Cost of Wells" section but, in 8eneral. the cost per well is increased significantly when a water tower is used. Consequently, the choice of finishing Options is made after a borehole is successful with a number of factors bein8 considered. Wellsfinished with Hand Pumps Of the 215uccessful new well projects, 16 were finished with hand pumps. These V￿re mainly wells located Sn more rural areas. In places where the p)pulatlon is less dense- typically rural villages- hand pumps ère the most econornical way of providing water. The people are quite happy to use them. In some places, people (typically women) are able to earn money by offering a service of filling containers with water while the owner 6oes about their business. It is worth mentioning that the cost of hand purnps has decreased dramatically. Two years ago, they were osting around 525.CPJO CFA lapprox. £6851. The original supplier, which we stopped using at that point, is now supplying at 325,(MXJ CFA lapprox. £4241. The quality appears to be still as good. Myra's Wells (Charity Number 11433451 Page 6

Myra's Wells 31 Au8115t 2024 Wellsfini5hed with Water Towers This year. S of the 21 successful new well projertS were finished with a solar powered pump. water tower and taps. Within Burkina Faso, the trend continues towards using solar powered pumps and water towers. particularly in more urban areas. In towns and cities. water towers are always in evidence. This being the case, providing a hand pump at a new well can mean that the new well is bypassed by the local people who will prefer to go a little further to obtain water with less effort. Other factors for choosing a solar powered pump and water tower include.. Hlsh flow rate. In cases where the flow rate is high- perhaps over 6-71xKI litres an hour, the amount of water available would seem almost wasted when only 4-500 litres an hour can be purnped. In these c35es. and perhaps for lower flow rates. if there 15 a good rea50n that justifies the extra expense, then a water tower will be considered. Good reasons include: Market Gardens. The possibility of a market garden project. Ll¥estock breeders. The existence of breeders with larger herdslflocks. Other cotwe Industrles which need 8ood supplies of water. Exlstence of nearby cllnlcslschools where the current water supply is inadequate. Expe¢ted populatlon grt)vrth- where there 1$ good rea50n to belleve that thls is Ilkely. Densely populated area. In general, it takes between 3 and 4 minutes tts fill one bidon using a hand pump. To fill one bidon from a water tower takes less than I minute. Effertively. this means that a water tower can serve 3 or 4 times the population in the same length of time. So, in more densely populated areas, a water tower can be considered more economical, despite the extra cost involved. provided the flow fate is sufftcient to be sustainable. Size of tonks The usual choice of tank fitted 15 a 5,000 litre plastic tank. On a few occasions, we have used a 10,000 litre Steel tank or two 5,000 litre tanks. rower structure The cost of the tower structure itself has seen price rises since COVID. The is mainly due to increases in the cost of the metals used. 8efore COVID, the price was around 525.C4XI CFA lapprox. £6851. During this year, the price has been more like 725,CKKI CFA (around £9401. although this seems to have now stabilise(t. Suppliers In general, for the we115 in the Ouagadougou area, the surveyor is able to Provide the pump, panels. cabling and tonk. A metal fabrication Supplier will provide the tower. Myra's Wells 31" August 2024 In area5 towards the west, a company called Nelson Solar may be better suited to provide the complete package as the company has an operati{￿ based in P￿(>-DIoujasS0. Unsuccessful new well projects We exercise considerable care in choosing which sites to drill- see below under Well Site Selection. So, when drilling 15 unsuccessful, it is a great sadness. Myra's Wells. policy is to always try a second borehole rf the first borehole is dry- Of rf it does not meet the minimum flow rate of 7LK) litreslhour. If the second borehole is also a negative. the UK trustees will consider whether to try a third borehole. This decision can be difficu￿. It has to be a balance of a number of fattor5 which include Advice from the surveyor The size of the need at the wllage Funds available and the needs of other villages The decision is made after careful consideration and prayer. It is worth noting that, in the event of a borehole being negative. the surveyor makes no charge. In this financial year, we praise God that there was onty one projert that was Seft with no water being found at the end of the year. Happily. the third borehole has since been drilled and the well is now finished with a water tower. The costs of this well will be induded in the new ¥earfs figure5. Well repair pmjects Myra's Wells is always happy to look to repair wells that are no longer operational. This year, one such well. which dated from many years ago. was brought back to life in the Sud-ouest region. Conversion projects Three wells previous fitted with hand pumps have been Converted to solar powered pumps and a water tower this year. Drilled in 21J)6. the borehole is still prodtscing a strong supply of clean water. Following the huge growth in population noted above, there was a need for a water tower to supply the school and the lar8e number of surrounding houses. The government supply in this area ha5 improved Significantly, but there is still a real need for this well. 21 Yo]gi'; utskirt5 of Ouaqadougou. Trustees visited thi5 well in and found there were over 21XJ containers waiting to be filled from the hand pump at about 11-30 in the morning. Thi5 huge densely populated area is still seeing growth. The new water tower has four LIp5- and there is still a queue to use them. 'LTr',-I ODagadougou where the original hand pump kept breaking because the depth of the water table was putting too much strain on it. The provision of a water tower will prevent it falling into disuse. which would have seen the initial investment become wasted. Water Minist Ins ection of wells There was no Government inspection in Burkina Faso this year, following the satis*actory inspertion last year. In the inspection in July 2023, the government minister expressed thanks and commented that thev could not manage without help from Myra'5 Wells. Myra's Wells (Charity Number 114334S) Page 8

Myra's Wells 31sr Au8llSt 2024 Cost of Wells Basic details We receive invoices from Burkina Fa50 which show us the costs of each project. For wells that have been ¢ompleted during the year, the total of these invoices is just under 84,IJOO,000 CFA. The Charity has benefitted thi5 year from a better GBPIEUR rate which has worked out at an average of 1.1676, up from 1.1493 in the previous year. Together with the fixed rate of 655 CFA/EUR, this equates roughly to just Under £llO,OCM). The individual components of this overall expenditure are: eratln This includes the costs of the offitr in Ouagadougou. These costs afe covered ty the MWIUKI trustees through the separate admin bank account. Costs of travel. including costs of necessary site visits before or after the well is fin15hed. Some essential operatln8 Costs, Includin8 the maintenance of vehicles (without which the Charity could not operate) are considered to be part of the cost of drilllng wells. Surv cos Surveys are carried out, before drilling commences. by one of two or three highly qualified surveyors Itwo of whom are university teachers). Occasionally, a traditional surveyor will be asked to look at a site if there have been two negative boreholes. For wells that do not produce water. the surveyor does not make a char8e. Drilling is carried out by a number of reputable drilling contractors depending upon the a￿a where the site is located. Water Testln This Is carrled out. Usually. in Ouagadougou. There are three laboratories that are used, Burkina Labo being the most regular. tatuto rt followln drlllln re This is sometimes prepared by the drlllin8 contractor, sometimes by the surveyor. If a hand pump is fitted in a more urban area, the surroundin8 wall and drinking trough are not always needed. It has been noted above that the Cost of hand pumps has fallen this year. from a hlgh of 525,000 CFA1£6851 to 325.IXQ CFA {£424). Myra's We115 31st August 2024 During this proce$5, the debris left in the borehole by the drilling proce55 15 removed 50 that the water is clean. This also usually results in an increase in the flow rate. indicating a well that is more sustainable than originally thought immediately after drilling. Water tower when this is deemed to be appropriate There are three distinct parts of this proce55 which are: Solar powered pump with the appropriate cabling arKI solar panels The tank The tank support Sometimes, these are provided by one supplier,. other times. two of three moy be involved. It has been noted above that the cost of the tower itself has increased from 3 low of around 525,IX)O CFA1£6581 to about 725.OCMI1£9401. Tralnln This includes time spent training the well committee and local population on the care and use of the pump. Number This 15 a metal plaque fixed to the well which designates that it is a well that Myra's Wells has drilled. and shows the well number. The cost ol these plaques 15 about £10 each. Average costs of wells The avera8e prlce of the projert undertaken this year has fallen. The reasons for thls are.. al The balance between projects flnlshed wlth hand pumps and those finished with water tower5 has changed. Last year there were 10 hand pumps and 13 water towers. This year there have been 16 hand pumpsand only S water towers. This chan8e of balance is a reflertion of the places where we have drllled- thefe have been more rural areas and less in the towns and cities. ue The more hand pump5 there are compared with water towers. the lower the avera8e project costs will be. In thi5 next financial year. the choice of locations may le3d to the average projert costs belng higher again. bl There have been less projects further away frorn Ouagadougou. Projerts further from the capital incur higher fees for the surveyor and drillin8 companies. cl With the hand pump5 bein8 cheaper this year than in the previou5 year, the preponderance of project5 Using hand pumps means that this will also have had the effect of lowering the average proffiect cost. dl There were no unsuccessful projerts during the year. In the previous year, this had a large impart on the overall average project costs as each unsuccessful project Is likely to have incurred around £IOCKI-£1200 for each of three negative boreholes. Going forwards. it is anticipated that more water towers will be needed and, as a consequence, the figure quoted as answer to the question "How much does a well cosv la frequently asked question) will be answered that it depends, but on average it works out at about £5.5(K). Myra's Wells 31. August 2024 Overoll costs of wells byfinishing type There is a significant difference between the costs of hand pumps and water towers. In the case of conversions. there is also a hidden savin8 in the region of £4CwJ on a future project where the reconditioned hand pump will be used in the future. Expenditure on Projects ond Operating Costs Myra's Wells keeps the costs of operating as a charity to a minimum. All work done in the UK is on an unpaid voluntary basis. Since It is required that an NGO in Burkina Faso must have two employees, there Myra's Wells Icharity Number 11433451 Page 11

Myra's Wells 31 August 2024 are just two people employed there- one for administration and one as a driver. All other trustees and helpers in Burkina Faso are unpald volunteers. Any expenses incurred in the office in 8urkina Faso are covered by trustees in the UK. The office itself is in a church building and the church allows usage of this at no cost- Myra's Wells has asked to be allowed to make a donation to the church but the church will not Iso farl accept any funds. All expenses incurred in the UK. including all travel. publicity, Postage etc, are covered by contribution5 from trustees. This table shows the expenditure on Operatin8 Costs. General Admin. Postage and Stationery Office Expenses18urkinal including salaries Travel 819 2,895 493 Plaques Publicity Governance 3,669 6W In this Current year, this represents around 6.46% of total expenditure. This percentage is a little more than the previous year, but this is mainly due to the cost of the concert given by Philippa Hanna, the c05t of which wa5 covered by donation5 from the trustees. It also resulted in some donations for whole wells. This allows ILKJ% ol public donation5 to be used for drilling wells. Of the above, the only costs that are considered part of the cost of drilling wells is the maintenance of the vehicles which amounted to about £2000- higher than in other years as the old original 4x4 was fitted with a new engine to be a back up to the newer Hilux. All costs in the UK and the salaries of the paid staff in 8url(ina are covered by the trustees. Well Site Selection Choosing where to drill This is. perhap5, the most challenging part of the operation of Myra's Wells. As a Christian charity, we make these decision with prayer, asking for guidance. Prioritising the m05t needy places is at the top of the agenda. No account is taken of ethnic or religious backgrounds in choosing which are the most deservin8 sites. b, The questions asked have been rephrased in an effort to make it easier to obtain the information that is needed before decisions are made. In addition to answers to questions. we ask for photographs of existing sources of water and a video clip to show the area around the place where the applicant would like the new well to be placed. This is all designed to help us to assess the situation in the villagelarea. It also helps us to decide if the designated place for the well is appropriate for a new well - that is. whether there 15 evidence of people living Within a reasonable distsnce of where the well is planned. A sub-committee considers request5 Wlth a view to plannlng a batch of (perhaps) S places in the same area. Myra's Wells (Charity Number 11433451 Page 12

Myra's Wells 31" August 2024 Further refinement of the selection form will be made. During further visits to Burkina Faso, efforts will be made to show where details ale lacking in the information which is given. It is recognised that there are language difficulties which make it difficult for some to provide the inforrnation for which we ask. Contacts Our main contacts, in the process of finding the most needy villages, continues to be our church and rnission contacts in Burkn'na Faso. together with retired missionaiies who have their own trusted contacts still in Burkina Faso. Well maintenance The malntenance reglme, In the hands of a local Committee. continues to be used. The committee at each well consists of five. six or seven local people who agree to take on responsibility for the maintenance and proper use of the well. The committee members cover the roles of:

President Treasurer Secretary Maintenance supervisor Health advisor The treasurer 15 responsible for collecting very small amounts of money, from those who use the well regularly. This money is then kept locally to be used towards the cost of routine maintenance. In the unlikely event of the pump developing a problem. there should be enough in the fund5 to cover most repairs. Trainin8 in the use of the pump, cleanliness of the pump area and personal hygiene, is glven to as many of the village people as possible. In area5 where some children have never washed, this advice is very necessary. The committee, together with as many as possible from the village. receive basic trainlng from professional trainer. If the well is completed with a hand pump, after the training is 8iven, a small klt ol grease and some small spare parts Is left wlth the committee memberlsl responsible for the pump maintenance. Well committees are established irresperti¥e of whether the h"nishin8 15 a hand pump or a water tower. Sustainability In the current climate-aware times, sustainability is an important consideration for Myra's Well5. The climate in 8urkina Fa50 15 such that almost all traditional wells will run dry between January and March. At the same time, the population growth in Burkina Faso means that there15 more and more requirement for water. This is exacerbated by the population migration caused by the increasing terrorist threat, causlng existing facilities lespecially water and foodl to be under increased pressure in many place. Myra's Wells continues to provide sustainable we115. By ensuring that the sources of water have sufficient flow rate before pronouncing it as"positive-, the subterranean water re50vrces will not be overstretched and will continue to provide for the needs of local people. Myra's Wells 31 August 2024 Non-water ro ects Villoge of Hope In september and October. Michel and Samuel Ouedraogo paid a visit to the UK. They visited a number of churches. mainly in the Bournemovth area and this resulted in some gifts being received to be passed on to Village of Hope to support their work of lookin8 after semi-orphaned children. The Village of Hope projert provides accommodation and schooling for children whose parents are unèble to look after them for various reasons. Durin8 the holidays. the children return home and come back to the Village for the next term. These gifts amounted to £2.634. Other projerts Other than three small donations de5i8nated as sUPPOrt for children at Zongo school, there were no other non-water projerts during the year. It is the decision of the trustees that the "principal" object of Myra's Wells Is to provide clean water at the m05t needy places of which we know. Su orters Major Donors During this fin3ncSal year, there were donatlons from Indlvlduals and one charitable organisation for whole wells. Thls Included donations from trustees. These funds have made provision for 13 wells. The details are.. Amount Wells 27750 Trustees Supporters Charitable or8anlsations 3651 The amounts varied and do not include any GiftAid that associated with the donations. Some were designated specifically for projects that are finished with water towers. It should be noted that six of the donations were made after the end of April which means that they will be used for wells In the next flnancial year. Regular donors At the end of the year, there were 63 regular donors, contributing a total of about £ICW a month to the funds. Thi5 does not include any GiftAid that is attributable to these donatlons Trustees, together with two retired trtsslees, collectively dgnate approxirnatefy £350 + GiftAid towards the administration costs each month and other ad-hoc donations as required. Other donors There are many other donors who give on a less regular basis and many of these donations are significant. Myra's Wells Is grateful for all support. As a Christian charity. we acknowledge God's goodness in rnaking funds available for drilling wells. Trustees visit to Burkina Faso During January 2024. Eddie Martin ènd Mark Anne55, together with a young man from Moorlands Blble College, spent time in Burkina F350. Over the course of about three weeks, visits were paid to a good number of exi5tin8 wells and sites from which requests for wells had been received. Myrè's We115 (Charity Number 11433451 Page 14

Myra'5 Wells 31 August 2024 This was a profrtable time with about twelve new wells bein8 commi55ioned. As Ltsual, there were visits from pastors requesting new wells. Also. as usual, the information given on the application form5 wa5 of variable quality and. invariably, incomplete. This is 3 problem which will be taken up with the helpers in Burkina Faso. It 15 reco8nised that this is partly due to cultural differences and, in some Cases, language and literacy difficulties. It was noted, in travelling around. that the Russian influence has grown considerably with the Russian flag flying from a number of buildings. RISKS Risk 05ses5ment A Risk Assessment document is available upon request. Security ond Terrorlsm Following the military coups in 2022, the security situation appears to have settled somewhat. While the extremists stlll control a large part of the country, thls c¢)ntrol does seern not to have grown durins the year. The local people are more confident about the situation and have reported government forces takln8 pfoattive artlon In dealing wlth threat5 from the extremists. This view need5 to be tempered by the fact that the regime is becoming more authoritarian and has banned some of the highly respected news a8encies lincludin8 the BBC and French press) from reporting about affairs. However. the anecdotal evidence is encouraging. Reports of attacks by Jihadists are appearing less often in the pre55 than previously- although the caveat of press restriction needs to be remembered. Some areas, IncludSn8 the south west, certainly feel safer. While the trustees would not want to travel to these areas. local people report feelin8 safer. Even in the North East. we have heard of people returnlng to some of the villages that were abandoned a few years a80. In terms of Myra's Wells, the effect on operations is much the same as the previous year. The main effect is that some areas of the country are con51dered too dangerous to ask those involved in the drillin8 process to vislt. Ultimately, thi5 will be the declsion of the contractors Involved, but Myra's Wells would not ask them to travel to places in parts of the north and east. This includes areas to the north and north east of Kaya and areas to the east of Fada n'Gourma. For the UK trustees, it would be considered unsafe to travel more than SO or 60 km from Ouagadougou In ny direction- although Koudou8ou1100 km to the we5tl would be considered safe. ADMINISTRATIVE MAThERS Relationship with Myro's Wells (International) Myra's We115 Ilnternationall IMWII is a charity registered in Burkina Faso to carry out operations there. This operates in the sameway as Myra'swells in the UK. There are now two employeesfunded by the UK trustees. Nobody else involved in the charity receive5 any remuneration from the wells fund, although Small amounts are paid for expenses (telephone calls and travelling in connection with making arrangernents for the drilling operation). The Trustee5 are all Christians who give their time voluntarily. Myra's Wells Icharity Number 11433451 Page 15

Myra's Wells 31 August 2024 Requests for wells are collected by MWI and forwarded to Myra's Wells Trustees. The decisions about which villages should be included in the drilling schedule are made in the UK. When these decisions are made, MWI helpers make the arrangements. Funds from the UK are deposited in the bank account of MWI. Burkina Faso is very much a cash society although online banking is becoming more used. Receipts are obtained and copies of these are sent to the UK to demonstrate that money has been properly used. MWI owns a 4x4 vehicle in Burkina Faso. This is a new Toyota Hilux which was purchased in September 2021. This vehicles is used for site visits belore and after the drilling process. Myra's Wells regards cost5 associated with these vehicles to be part of the cost of drilling wells. There is also an older 4x4 which is maintained as a back up in case the Hilux is out of action for any reason. Fuller details of this relationship have been formalised into a Memorandum of Understanding which is available upon request. NGO status In September 2021, MWI achieved NGO status. The main effects of this are- 11 There is no duty to pay on Imported good5. This was a big advantage when the new Toyota Hilux vehicle was delivered in January - import dity can be very high and accordin8 to the offi'cial's whlm. 21 There is a requirement to have paid employees. The UK trustees were somewhat concerned about this, but came to realise that, overall. it is good thing. The way that Myra's Wells's work has developed means that it had become too much for volunteers to do. The UK trustees will cover the salaries of these two ernployees. Trustees As noted above, Karen Martin and Sonja Warr both retired as trustees during the year. Both still continue as helpers. The remaining trustees wlsh to thank thern both for theif help with the charity. All trustees are Chrf5tians who are known personally by the existing trustees. A more formal Recruitment and Training Policy will be developed during the next financial year. Myra'5 Wells 31" August 2024 Communication with supporters Opportunities are taken when trustees are invited to speak at Imainlyl churches and church artivities le.g. Men's Breakfasts). This year, there was the opportunity to 8ive a presentstion to a Pro8us meeting at which around 40 men were present. The regular quarterly newsletter continues by email (using Mailchimpl and by post. At the end of the financial year, there were around 380 recipients for the emails and about 30135 regular recipients for the posted newsletter5. The printed newsletters are also used as "promotional" material when speaking to others about the work. The "open rate" for the emails was between 55% and 65%. as reported by Mailchimp. In addition. a sub-set of those on the mailing list have asked for more regular updates. These are sent when there is a specific request for prayer-or answerto prayer. The"open rate" for this sub-set is usuallv in around 75%. Fundraising This year, we were able to arrange a concert given by the Christian singer Philippa Hanna. This was kindlv hosted, without charge, by a church in Poole which regularly supports the work of the charity. Thi5 event attracted over 200 attendees and resulted in two people paying for whole we115. in addition to the funds raised from tlckets. GiftAid and VA T Myra's We115 claim5 GiftAid on donations when the donors complete a declaration to confirm that the donation is eligible. Myra's Wells Is no lon8er reglstered for VAT. Myra's Wells 31 August 2024 The GBPIEUR exchange rate has worked in Myra's Wells's favour over the year. It rose steadily and when Euros were bought In July. it was a little over 1.18. The average ol the year was about 1.1676. Income Total income In the year. after adjusting for accruals, was £159,717. Assets Myra's wells has no fixed assets. At the end of the year, the current assets were £IW,831 being the sum of funds held in the UK bank accounts and debtors. Donatedfor wells The funds donated for wells during the year. as shown in the cashflow, were £126,725, marginally less than the previous yearfs total of £129,455. Donotedfor orher purposes Following a visit from Michel and Samuel Ouedraogo, who run the Village of Hope school and refsJ8e, £2,634 was donated by various churches in the Bournemouth area. This was passed on to fund their work. Donotedfor odministmtion The total donated specifically for administrative costs was £8,969. This is higher than the previous year as there were a number of exceptional costs that needed to be met. These included the cost of the Philippa Hanrba concert lapprox. E24001. Donafionsfrom Overse05 This year, there were just three donations from overseas donors amounting to £212 from USA and £200 from France. Reserves Pollry Myra'5 Wells does not maintain a fund of monies held back from bein8 used. In principle, funds are used to drill wells as soon as is practicable. The list of requests far exceed5 the income and there is no problem with being able to use any funds received. The Well Committees at the individual wells collect small amounts from those who re8ularly use the wells and this can be used for most repairs that are needed. If a more major problem occurs, then Myra's Wells will consider helping from current funds. During the ralny season- June to September. it is difficult to drill wells. This is because the roads in Burkina Faso, awoy from the major routes. are made from compacted soil. In rnany of the villages, the soll is not even compacted. The effert ot this IS that it is not possible to take the dri15s to the place5 where wells are needed. Consequently. money donated from about April onwards will remain in the bank accounts until late October when drilling is again possible. Thi5 15 why there is usually a balance carried forward in the bank accounts from year to year. At 311812024, the balances carried forward were: UK Bank accouftts Lloyd5 Restrlcted funds Unrestricted funds Currency Cloud GBP fund 19.091 2.503 1.038 Myra's Wells (Charity Number 11433451 Page 18
