## **Structure, Governance and Management**

The PTA is an unincorporated association governed by a constitution adopted in 2011. The charity is run by elected trustees who serve for one year and are appointed at the Annual General Meeting. New trustees are provided with guidance on their responsibilities under charity law and the PTA’s objectives. The charity has no connected organisations or subsidiaries. The trustees are supported by a dedicated team of volunteers who help to organise and run events throughout the year.

## **Objectives and Activities**

The PTA’s charitable objective is to raise funds for the benefit of students at Nonsuch High School for Girls. We achieve this by raising money through various activities and events, and by making grants to the school. In 2024–25 we prioritised inclusive fundraising, supporting projects in STEM, wellbeing and wider enrichment.

## **Achievements and Performance**

During the year, the PTA organised several successful fundraising events, including, but not limited to, the 200 Club, Christmas Raffles, the Swimathon and the Walking Challenge, raising a total of £26,713. Operational expenses, including event costs, amounted to £7,288.

Grants totalling £20,102 were made to the school to support a wide range of projects, including STEM resources, library books, extracurricular activities and prize-giving awards. These initiatives benefited the whole school community and were warmly received by staff and students.

## **Financial Review**

Gross Income: £26,713 Total Expenditure: £27,390 (£7,288 operational + £20,102 grants) Net Deficit: £677 (funded from reserves) Reserves at Year-End: £29,020

## **Reserves Policy**

The PTA aims to maintain reserves of £2,000–£4,000 to ensure continuity of events. Current reserves exceed this level due to cumulative historical surpluses, and the excess will be used to support future grants. No restricted funds are held.

## **Risks and Risk Management**

The main risks identified are lower event participation due to economic conditions and a reduction in volunteer availability. These are mitigated through diverse fundraising methods, online engagement, and regular trustee reviews. No significant risks materialised during the year.

## **Plans for Future Periods**

The PTA aims to raise over £20,000 in 2025/26, targeting more than £20,000 in school grants. Key priorities include support for STEM projects, inclusion initiatives, and well-being programs. Efforts will also focus on recruiting additional volunteers and expanding digital fundraising options.

## **Trustees’ Responsibilities**

The trustees are responsible for preparing this report and the financial statements in accordance with the Charities Act 2011. They confirm that the accounts give a true and fair view of the charity’s financial position and comply with applicable laws.

## **Independent Examiner’s Report to the Trustees of Nonsuch High School PTA**

I report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended **31 August 2025** , which are set out in the accompanying financial statements.

## **Respective Responsibilities of Trustees and Examiner**

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the **Charities Act 2011** (“the Act”).

The trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Act and that an independent examination is needed instead.

It is my responsibility to:

- examine the accounts under section 145 of the Act;

- follow the procedures laid down in the **Charity Commission (England and Wales) Directions** made under section 145(5)(b) of the Act; and

- state whether any matter has come to my attention.

## **Basis of Independent Examiner’s Statement**

My examination was carried out in accordance with the **Directions given by the Charity**

**Commission** . The examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and the seeking of explanations from the trustees concerning such matters.

The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a “true and fair view”. The report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

## **Independent Examiner’s Statement**

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect, the requirements of the **Charities Act 2011** have not been met; or

2. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
