It is intended to be a forum of consultant level experts to consider these issues. ``` ``` The aims of the Society are: ``` ``` - agreeing best practice and standards of care for patients with muscle disease ``` ``` - agreeing standards for training in clinical myology and clinical muscle pathology ``` ``` - promoting translational research ``` ``` - establishing clinical networks to facilitate and promote clinical trials and patient registries ``` ``` - facilitating collaborations with patient organisations ``` ## **`ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE`** ## **`Charitable activities`** ``` -The BMS Annual Meeting was held as a shortened programme online on the 4th Nov 2020. ``` ``` -The event was held onlinedue to the SARS-CoV-2virus pandemic.This meetingincludeda shortened AGM (online). ``` ``` -TheBMSfundedfreemeetingplacesforallattendees,andthisyearextendedattendanceto non-BMS members. -The online event was well received with excellent attendeeship and feedback. ``` ``` -The key sessions for this meeting were: ``` ``` -Hot topics for myology research in 2020: Brexit and Covid-19 ``` ``` -Treatment for NMDs ``` ``` -BMS Paediatric Muscle Teaching Day was not held in 2020, due to the pandemic. ``` ``` BMS website address is https://www.britishmyologysociety.org/ ``` ## **`FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS`** ``` TheBMShascreatedaneweventfor2021.DesignedforAlliedHealthProfessionalswitha specialist interest in Neuromuscular Disease, this event will fall into the next reporting period. The BMS will run an Annual Meeting in November 2021, which will be held online.
