The Directors are pleased to present their report – for the year ended 31 January, 2026.
Infant Club Foot Appeal Limited (The Charity) is a private company and a registered charity. It does not have a share capital but is guaranteed by its members within limits defined in the articles of association. The Charity is registered with the Charities Commission and its charity number is 1142858.
Object
The Object of the Charity is the relief of sickness and disability, and the promotion of good health for under privileged people and children in third world countries who suffer from club foot (congenital talipes equinovarus) and other limb related disabilities, in particular but not exclusively by providing or assisting in the provision of treatment and care through treating patients, providing prosthetics and orthotics, training healthcare workers, and educating and supporting patients and carers
Operations
During 2025/26, with the support of our sponsors, the Charity’s Directors have worked with ZOP (Zanzibar Outreach Project) and the Medical Director of the Mnazi Mmoja Hospital to continue to support the Charity’s activities. We have continued to fund the workshop staff This includes treatment at within the programme to treat patients born with Clubfoot. outpatient clinics at the hospital and mobile outreach clinics – the mobile clinics support efforts by the Zanzibar hospital service to reach people in need of care in their villages who would not otherwise come forward for treatment. As a result of these efforts there has been a continued growth in numbers of successful treatments and a continually higher proportion of patients completing the full course of treatment, including tenotomy.
The first prosthetic workshop that we set up over 13 years ago continues to fulfil the needs of many amputees on the island with the manufacture of life changing artificial limbs. However in October 2023 the Government advised that Mnazi Mmoja Hospital was to be closed down and renovated over a number of years. Our clinics have been awaiting news of temporary re housing and we are still to understand what will happened to all four of the clinics we have set up and funded. The second Prosthetic workshop that was opened in October 2018 on Pemba Island, the first of its kind, still continues to supply life changing prosthetics to those in need, again we await news of potential existing site closures and news of rehousing and/or machinery storage Having continued the funding and training of staff, the supply of all equipment and materials these units will continue to provide life changing treatment for the many amputees on this remote and poverty stricken island where

amputation is high due to diabetes and road traffic accidents. The key technician who completed his three year training in India as a Prosthetic technician funded by our charity, currently continues to head both the club foot clinics and prosthetic units in Mnazi Mmoja Hospital. His skills include the ability to provide upper as well as lower limb prosthetics. The technicians on Pemba Island who we have funded for advanced upper limb training also continue to serve the disabled community.
We also await news of where these key staff will be temporarily re-sited.
The refurbishment of a school in the south of Pemba Island, Mthaliwa School, that some of our young amputees attend is continually maintained. The crumbling flooring and dilapidated state of the building made it impassable for the disabled and those fitted with artificial limbs to attend school. This renovation was the first of its kind on the island and its success has been an enormous contribution to the local community, serving now some 600 children. We also continue to maintain the provision of electricity and the water station. Encouraged by this huge success we refurbishment a larger school, Mjananza School, in the centre of Pemba Island and this was completed in 2022. It was a large and ambitious project that now serves The all local communities and provides schooling and education for over 900 children. scheme involved re-engineering the drainage system to prevent annual flooding, the erection of a fully encompassing safety fencing and school gates, rebuilding classrooms and providing 6 further classrooms, building of a new toilet block and a large canteen/school hall that now provides facilities for all 850 – 900 children and staff. These facilities are continuously receiving our support and we are currently working on a new project to provide much needed specialist books to the schools. The canteen has become a central community hub that is rented out to local groups bringing income to the school and sustainability.
Support and fundraising
This year we have again been supporting financially the top up salaries for our numerous technicians. We have continued to support the Prosthetic unit by collecting material and components. To date, the materials and equipment are being held in the UK awaiting news of re homing and new and safe storage facilities. We have gained the support from Taylor Made who are recent distributors of Mitchell boots and bars along with support from key hospitals who provide the essential second hand boots and bars without which out clinics could not function. Within Zanzibar our work remains supported by numerous dedicated individuals and organisations including ZOP and the Rotary Club of Zanzibar. We have made contacts within the MOH and MOE on Zanzibar including the interest and support of the Health Minister. The President of Zanzibar is now fully aware of our work on the two islands and has met with Dr Charlotte Hawkins to convey personal thanks. Our donations in total exceed £7 million.

Whilst these past 15 months have been an unsettling period we remain positive that a new period of modernisation within the two islands will prevail. Our mission will be to ensure that the poor, disabled and needy are not left behind.
Our biggest challenge for the forthcoming year will be managing the large shipment of materials and equipment held here in the U.K to secure facilities on both islands of Zanzibar and Pemba as soon as we are in full understanding of the re structures.

Independent examiner's report to the trustees of The Infant Club Foot Appeal ('the Company')
I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Company for the year ended 31 January 2026.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity's trustees of the Company (and also its directors for the purposes of company law) you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 ('the 2006 Act').
Having satisfied myself that the accounts of the Company are not required to be audited under Part 16 of the 2006 Act and are eligible for independent examination, I report in respect of my examination of your charity's accounts as carried out under section 145 of the Charities Act 2011 ('the 2011 Act'). In carrying out my examination I have followed the Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5) (b) of the 2011 Act.
Independent examiner's statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe:

accounting records were not kept in respect of the Company as required by section 386 of the 2006 Act; or
-
the accounts do not accord with those records; or
-
the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements of section 396 of the 2006 Act other than any requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination; or
-
the accounts have not been prepared in accordance with the methods and principles of the Statement of Recommended Practice for accounting and reporting by charities [applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)].
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

Notes to Accounts
Accounts for the year ended 31 January, 2026
1. Accounting policies
The accounting statements have been prepared in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard for Smaller Entities, effective April 2008.
Turnover is the amount of donations received by the Company during the accounting period. Donations in kind have not been recognised in these accounts.
Project expenditure is expenditure directly spent in procuring and shipping medical supplies, amounts disbursed in travel and accommodation for the delivery of training to healthcare workers and treatment of patients, and expenditure to support Tanzanian healthcare workers and careers involved in the treatment of patients with club foot and other lower limb deformities.
Administration and governance costs are costs relating to general administration, fund raising and governance.
The Company had no assets other than cash in bank at the end of the reporting period therefore it is not necessary to provide depreciation.
2. Service delivery
The Companies’ sole project during this period was the delivery of support services and training in Zanzibar, in the State of Tanzania.
3. Related party transactions
Dr C Hawkins received £12,000 by way of remuneration for providing professional services for the year. During the year the Directors did disburse personal funds for the furtherance of the project and these have been or will be reimbursed at cost.
4. Amounts due to Directors
The balances outstanding at the end of the current year represent expenditure incurred during the year by Directors on behalf of the Company but not reimbursed until after the year end.

5. Other creditors
Other Creditors represents the amounts of money disbursed by the Charity’s project in Zanzibar before the year end but not reimbursed until after the year end.
Turnover
Turnover for the year is made up of cash donations from individuals, and a number of small fundraising events.
No recognition has been given in these accounts to other donations of equipment, donated freight services and other gifts in kind.
