The trustees present their report with the financial statemenrs of the charity for the year ended 31
March 2025. The trustees have adopted the provisions OF Accounting and Reporting by Charities..
Staten)ent of Rer.ommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance
with the Financial Reportlng Standard appllcable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) [effective
I lanuary 20191.
OBIEcfivES AND ACTIVITIES
Oblectlves and alms
The charity Is formed out of the estate of Mrs Gwendoline Olsen (nee Anderson) for the charitable
purpose connected with rhe promotion of vocational, higher, hjrther and university education and
research for the benefit of persons Ilviiig ID Stnkenchurch or the surrounding area of Buckinghamshire
and Oxfordshire, whether by way of scholarships, bursaries, grants, prizes, loans or any other support
that trustees consider appropriate.

The Trustees defermined that grants should be pald ro relevant instlrutions, where p0$5ible, to ensure
funds are used appropriately, The trust also requlres evldence from beneficiaries where grants hav¥
been issued for a specific purpose. As a resulr. the trust maintains an active and ongoing role in
ensurlng that beneficiaries. needs are met and asslsts iri co-ordlnating accommodation, tuition
paymenrs or purchases of one-off Iterns. The trust alsL) olfers ongoing advice for beneficiaries as they
progress through their eduLation, particularly as manycome from disadvantaged backgrounds or have
very Iltde familial a5SiStance.
SlgnlflLant actlvltles
Durln¥ the year, the trustees have been in discussIDns with various local organlsations Includlng
cducation establi.shments, Bucks Young Carers and Dther relevant bodies and have been selectii)g
pos.sible stiidents to receive grants from the chariry. In the year 3 new grants were made. The charity
ha.q paid granLf in the financial year of £33,508, supporting 8 students. Grants are recognised in the
accounts when the conditions of the grant, for example the commencement of the Lourse, are met. At
31 March 2025, there is a crediior of £36,590 lor grants where there is a reasonable expectation that
recipient will receive the grant but the granr has not been pald.
In additlon to providlng financlal grants, the trust also offers ongoing practical support to grant
recipients. In the past year this included assistance with costs of preparing course work and oftering
advice regarding references and details of further financial support available to them. The Trust ha.s
also been able to arrange for work experience pla￿￿ents at Allan laiies Solicitors in High Wycombe,
for 2 of the students undertaking law degrees.
The Trust has also launched a website designed to raise awareness of its charitable actlvltles and from
which candidates can make direct applications for beneflt.

Grantmaklng
Declslons regarding grants are made at trustee meetings and separate applicant meetings, following
discussions with local organisations. colleges and universltles and applications by students.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
Investment performance
Investments consist of properties, on which rent is ¢ollerted at regular intervals. Rental collections for
the year have been in line with expectations.
Reserves pollcy
Ir is the policy of the Charity to maiiitain the general unrestricted fund5, excluding the Investment
properties, at a level of£30,000 worth ofexpenditure in order to ensure all costs can be covered if any
dedsion had to be made ro close the Charity at any time. The Trustees have also allocaLed £30,000 01
the unrestricted reserves as a property maintenance reserve should unexpected expenditur¢ b¢

FUTURE PLANS
Duriny the year ended 31 March 2025, the trustees have and will continue to look for further
opportunitie5 to promote the educalion813nd tralnlr]8 support that can be offered, in connection with
local universities and college5. Work wlth educational establlshments, the Ewelme Trusr and other
relevant bodies will continue and the trustees have opened up discusslon5 wlth other institutions and
schools throu8hJut the year. The pollcy followed by the trusteeswill be Inaccordance wlth the wordlng
Blven in the last will and testament of Gwendoline Anderson deceased.
RUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Governlng document
The charity is controlled byits governing document, a deed of trust and constitutes an unincurporated
charity.
Recrulrment and appolntment ofnew trustees
The current trusLees are Nlck Morrison, Tracey Olsen, Rachel Hill and Alex Stanier. I￿rOY Langley, an
origlnal trustee retired in May 2023 and wa5 replaced by Rachel Hill. All other tru.stees were appointed
as flrsc trustees under ihe instructions of the late Mrs Olsen. The trust deed required that there be at
least three trustees and thatall fiJture trustees must beappolnted bya re501utlon ofthe trustees passed
at a special meeting.
Inductlon and tralnlng of new trnstees
On appointment to the Board, trustees receive a Copy of the trust deed and any amèndments made to
it and a Copy of the charlty's latest report and 5tstement of accounts. Tralning is offered ro those
trustees who fee.l they do not have the relevant experience. In the Selection of trustees, the trustee5
have regard to the 5ki115, knowledge and experience needed for the effective admlnlstration of the
charity.
Trustee ownershlp of charltable property
The charity owns 12 properties. The title5 for all properties are registered at the Land Registry in the
Darne ofthe trustees.

The trustces are responsible for preparing the Report o( the Trustees and the financial statements in
accordance wth applicable lawand United Kingdom Accounting Standards [Unlted Kingdom Generally
Accepted Atcoundng Practice).
The law applicable to charltles Sn England and Wales, the Charltie5 Act 2011, Charity (Account5 and
Reports) Regulatlons 2008 and the provisions of the trust deed requires the trustees to prepare
financidl statement5 for each finaiicial year which give a true and fair view of the state of aFFalrs of the
charity and of the incoming resources and appllcation of resources, ii)cluding the incotne and
expenditure, of the charity for that period. In preparing those financial statements, the trustees are
required to

report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Gwendoline Anderson Charitsble
Trust (the Trust) for the year ended 31 March 2025.
Respective Responslblllties of trustees and examiner
As the charity trustees of the Tnjst you are respon51ble for the preparation of the accounts in
accoi'dance with the requirements of the Charit5es Act 2011 ['the ACY),
I report in respect of myexamiDatlon of the Trusvs accounts carr5ed out ut]der section 145 of the 2011
Act and in carrylng out my examination I have followed all the appllcable Directions glven by the
Charlty Commlssion under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Basls of Independent examlner's repurt
My exarniuatlon was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Chai'iry
CLIEnmission. An examination includes a review of the accouiiting rècords kept by the charity and a
comparison of the accounts presented with tliose recoi-ds. Italso includes consideration of any unusua
items or disclDSures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustee5 concernlng any
such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence thatwould be required in an
dudit and consequently no Opinion is given 2S to whether the accounts present a 'true and lalr v5ew'
and the report is limlted to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examlner's statement
have completed my examinatlon, I confirn) that no marerlal matters have come to my attenllon in
connection with the examlnation giving me cause to belleve that In any material respect:

in accordance with Ihe Flnancial Reportlng Standard applicable In rhe UK and Republic of
Ireland {fRS 1021 (effective I january 2019], Financlal Reporfing Standard 102 The Financlal
ReportSng Standard applicable in the UK dnd Republic of Ireland, and the Charities Act 2011.
The flnanclal statemÈntr have been prepared under the hlstorical cost convention, as modified
by the revaluation of certaln assets.
The trustees have reviewed projections aThd biidgets for the nexl twelve months. Following thi5
review. the dlrectors consider there to be little impact on the charity's ability to act as a guing
concern.
Income
All donatitsn and legacy Income is recognised In the Statement of Financial Activities once the
charity has entitlement to the fijnds, it is probable that the income will be recelved and the

headings they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use OF resources.

are offered, this is accrued as soon as the recipient is notified of the grant, a5 this gives rise to a

relating to commencement of the course the grant is only accrued when thls condition is met.
Investment property
Investment properlies are properties which are held either to earn rental Income of for capltal
appreciation or for both.
Investrnent propertles are measured at cost upon initSal recognitlon. The initfial cost of the
property comprlses of Its purchase prlce and any directly attributable expenditure.
Subsequently, Itlvestment properry is measured at fair value at each reporting date with
changes falr value recognlsed in the Sncome statemenc sn the perlod that they arise. No
depreclatton Is provided respect of investment properties applying the fair value model.
Jnvestment Income
Investment incotne comprises of rentsl income accrued from the propertles during the year.
Taxatlon
The charity Ss exempt frorn tax on its charitable acdvSties.

Unrestrlcted funds can be used In accordance wilh the charitable obSertive5 of the Charity at
the discretion of the trustees.

The trustees have given consideratlon to the property values atyear 31 March 2025 and deem
it to be appropriately held. The last formal Valuation wa5 undertaken in March 2020 by
Watersmeet Chartered Surveyors, who are not connected wlth the Charity, The valuation was
made on an upen market value basls by reference to market evidence of tran5artlon prices for
