Section D Achievements and performance Summary ofthe main aehlevements of the charlty during the yoar We have sponsored the educalion of nearly 5,000 children since our launch in 2009. We are financing the full-time education of 600 primary and secondary school children. 30 of our school leavers are engaged in university education and 14 students completed medical degrees in 2024. We ara engaged in launching other vocational courses for school leavers. We have opened study centres in many towns. providing extra classes for O and A Level students and also Year 5 scholarship pupils. We have supported self-employment schemes, mainly aimed at women running households= five women were assisted with start- ups for clay-pot making, coconut oil extraction, iailoring and store- keeping. As part of the 'We Can, movement, we invesled five lakhs to help five shops run their businesses in Balticaloa. Under our 'Livelihood Enhancement Scheme,, nearly 20 women learned lo make and market handicrafts made from recycled products like coconut shells and wood cuttings. Our sewing project in the Urani village of Amparai has proven successful in the creation and distribution of tailored products. AEDU-UK SLspplied five sewing machines, sewing tools and equipment valuing approximately Rs.1.528,000 to enable women in Kilinochchi to run their own tailoring centre. The centre was officially opened in July 2025. This project was overseen by the Rural Development Offi'ce {RDO). Five families in Vaharai, Trincomalee, have benefitted from our investments in irrigation and provision of 4 and a half acres of land and tools for cultivation.
