Annual Overvlew The 2024125 financial year was the most challenging lor Age Well Easl in living memory and the financial rèsults speak lor this. All our staff and volunteers have worked hard keeping the "show on the road" and the Trustees greatly appreciate everybody's conlribulion. These cosl reductions included making the post ol lull lime Chief Executive Officer redundarrt and we did not renew the lease on the Veranda, which was not being used enough to merit the cost. We particularly thank Tom Harrison, former CEO for his selfless approach to ensuring the lulure ol Age Well East, and lo Colin Bennett who leased the veranda lo the Charity al less than hall the market rental lor 6 years. The Charity has now achieved short to medium term sustainability and the priority lor 2025-2026 is to develop the strategy, which will be focused upon unrllet needs within Essex and long-lerm income generation. Inbound Service The Inbound Setvi¢e underwent significant changes during 2024125, including a reduction in call handler paid staff ing hours from around 80 to just 11 per week. Despite this substantial decrease, the service successfully received and responded lo approximately 2,500 calls over the year. As a result ol these calls, 417 external relerrals weTe made lo support services, partner organisations, and trusted local tradespeDpIe. Additionally, the team successfully converted enquiry calls into 260 referrals lo our Advice & Welfare team, dementia services, and carer support. FINANCIAL REVIEW Financial Po$ilion 2024125 has been a challenging year lor the charity. One substantial conlraet ended in March 2024, and income has declined lor the second consecutive year. In response lo the ¢onlract loss, Ihe decision was taken to use some ol our reserves lo maintain servic& delivery al the highest possible level and to invest in developing a strategic income generation plan. Allhtsugh this approach successfully secured £134k in additional income that was not confirmed at the start ol the year, we ended the year with a delicil 01 £64k. This shorttall was covered by our reserv8s, bul il leaves the charity with a reduced level ol free reserves going into 2025126. Page 4

AGE WELL EAST LTD IA company limited by guarantee) TRUSTEES, REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDING 31 MARCH 2025 As part DI our cost management, four redundancies were made during the year. In addition, where staff left voluntarily, roles were not replaced where possible, helping lo reduce overall staffing levels naturally. Total income lor the year was £771 k and total expenditure was £835k, resulting in a deficit of £64k. Sources ol Fundlng In 2024125, the majority ol our income154Q/.I came from NHS and local authority contracts and grants. A further 36°/o came from a variety ol trusts and loundalions, ol which 13Q/o was unrestricled income. The remaining 8Y. was generated through community fundraising and the valued support ol our regular donors. Investment Policy and Objectives Due lo the necessity ol drawing on our reserves, there were no lunds available lor long-lerm investment during the year. Our objective lor 2025126 is lo b&gin rebuilding our resetves and to continue working lo stabilise and slrenolhen the charity s tinancial position. Reserves Pollcy Age Well East's reserves policy is risk-based, with trustees assessing each income stream individually. This ensures that reserves are held at an appropriate level - not in excess ol need - so that we can maximise the funds used lor Charitable activities. When reviewing the reserves policy, Iruslees consider.. The nature ol our funds-. Reslricled funds are held lor specific purposes and are not included in free reserves. Unreslricled lor generall funds may be used to support the charity's objectives, and the balance ol Iheso forms Dur free reserves. The nature and risk of our income slrearns.. The greater the risk of a funding stream ending, the greater the need lo hold reserves lo manage polgnlial disruption. Our latest review suggests that, as 97.78Vo of our income is secured, our overall funding risk is currently low. Trustees have reaffirmed that the ideal level ol reseNes is equivalent to one month's operating costs, plus a £10,000 contingency. While we do not currently meel this target. rebuilding resèrves remains a key priority lor the year ahead. Going Concern Trustees have assessed the charity's ability lo continue as a going concern lor a period ol at least 12 months Irorn the dale ol approval ol the financial statements. This assessment has taken into account key risks and uncertainties that could impact the charity's operations. In forming this conclusion, trustees revi8wed budgets, forecasts, cash flow and reserves projections. contingency plans, and the availability ol liquid assets. Forecasting was extended through to March 2027 10 support a more comprehensive view of Ihe charity's suslainabilily. Key Risk$ and Uncertalntles The Cost-saving measures introctuced in 2024 have limited scope lor further significant reductions. Ourtorecasl lor 2025126 is based solely on secured income, while the lorecasl for 2026127 includes both secured and some unsecured income. The position will be monitored closely, and appropriate mitigating actions will be considered il income fal￿$ short ol projections. Concluslon TrLJStees consider there lo be no material uncertainties about the charity's ability lo continue as a going concern. Based on the inlormalion reviewed, there is reasonable expectation that the charity has suff icienl resources and reserves lo ¢onlinLJe operating lor at least the next 12 months. As a result. the financi31 slalements have been prepared on a going concern basis. Page 5
