The objects and powers ol the organisation are governed by the Articles ol Assoaation. The Charity's registered

The policles and general management of the Charity's aclivilies ale directed by the 8oard of TTUStees which meels
a minimum of four limes per year and delegate responsibility lor the delivery of policy and general rnanagemenl to

The 8oard ol Trustees is responsible lor the overall governance, management and conlrol of the organisalion,
working with the Chief Executive Officer ICEOI and Ihe Leadership Team ILTI in Strategic and organisalional
development.
Decisions about day-to-day operations are taken by Ihe CEO, mallers with significanl implicalion5 relating lo health
and safely, safeguarding and legal compliance le.g., Data protectionl are brought lo the Chair and Board.

Achlevements and performance
Age UK Tameslde SeThlces
The Charity h85 managed to secure all of its core services funded by the Tameside Melropolilan Borough Council,
and the Integrated Care Board, Greater Manchester and submilled a tender TMBC Public Health to deliver a new
Falls Prevention Programme. if successful this contract will enable Ihe Charty lo provide more fa115 prevention
svpport lo older People in Tameside and increase ils staffing bringing additional expertise into the Charity.
The Reaching Communities Lottery lunding lor Gel Up & Go ended, the Charity has conlinued to PTovide elemenls
of the SeTvice within ils community support sewices. Thi5 has been achieved by securing lunding from Age UK
England lo deliver a community home based Service called 'A Place to Call Home. SeNice alongside the existing
community home support service.
Followinu on from the GMCVO investmenl lund5 last year and the successful completlon of our 131 Club
18fuibishment plan, our 131 Club membership h8s giown, unfortunately year 2 investment lunds were nol released
85 GMCVO went into adminislralion eartier in the year, however the impact on our grovdh plans within the 131 Club
h8ve been minimal.
In the first year ol operating the Footcare Clinic proved lo be highly successlul, the Service was high demand
operating a lenglhy waiting lime lor appoinlmenls for m05t of the year. As such as pari of Ihe Sliategic Review the
Board and Leadership Team idenlified opportunities to incie8se the Footcare Service capacity over the next 12
months. As well as develop a new Clinic Service for ear wax removal to provide another much needed seNice to
older people al 8ffoidable prices and provide the Charity with a new income stream.

The Treasurer and Finance orrice have an annual meelinu schedule, to set budgets. discuss rnanagemenl

The Trustees regularly ¥eview the Charity's activities and financial position with regard lo Ihe level of
commitments in respect ol contracted services. the staffing profile. property and expecled fulure needs and
opportunities. The Teview focuse5 on lulure years income forecas15 and planned expenditure. analysls ol
contingencies anticipated. existing and new challenges, vulneiabililie5 8nd risks and their polenlial impact
and likelihood. New challenges locus on Ihe uncertainties and deslabilisation in Ihe developmenl ol the
personalisation 8gend8 and the ma551ve government changes taking place in 81alutory struclures and
delivery, as well as Ilie iinpacl ol the economic 511uation generally and locally.
It ha5 been identified to piovide three months unresl¥icted direct charilable costs equates lo approximately
£150,000 based on 2025 acluall cost8.

The Charity holds investmen15 a5 described in Ihe notes lo the Accounts and monitors the perfoim8nce ol Ihese
funds. A18rge proportion ol the amounts shown as 'Cash and Bank, on Ihe Balance Sheet is actually deposited in a
number of bank accounts, including deposit accounts which allracl the best interest rales available for the lerrn of
the deposit. albeit low rates due lo the cuirent climate.

Plan. The Board monitor the Risk Management Plan al quarterly intervals. Risks are measured using a traffic light

Recrultment and appointment of the new Trustees
Duiing this financial ye8r the Board focussed ils 8Ctivities on Board team building. there are 2 long standing Board
Members and all olher Trustees have less than 2 years, service. To help achieve this, one ol the actions undertaken
was for the Board lo work together to deliver a Chrislmas Coffee Morning Fundraising event. al Ihe Centre, selling
cake5 and refreshments together wilh Stall, quizzes and raffle5.
The services provided by the Trustees is a voluntary one and the Trvslees did not receive of waive any
remuneration or benefits lor the seNice5 Ihey gave during the year.
Change to The Board worked well together and man8ged lo deliver a successful well oig8nised event, which was
well attended, with positive feedback and managed lo raise funds lor Ihe Charites annu81 IMnleT Warm Hub.
Inductlon and tralnlng of new Trustees
Any polenlial new Trustees subrnil an expression ol inleiest and attend 8 welcome meeting wlh a cuiienl Trvslees,
this meeting focusses skills and expeiiences they may bring lo supporl the Charilies objeclives.
New Trustees then allend a formal introduction with the CEO where they are guided through a presentation about
Ihe Charilies history lo current day, lalk through Ihe Strategic Plan, Scheme of Delegation, lour the building,
facilities, meet staff and volunteers. At Ihis litne new Tiuslees also complete Personal Contact Forms, Conflict ol
Interest Declaration forms. Fil and Proper Person Declarallon and receive the Charily Commission8 recommended
Effective Governance Handbook.

Organlsatlonal Structure and Decision Making
The Charily has 22 salaried staff and 13 volunteers. The B081d deleg81e responsibility for Ihe day-to-day operalions
and implemenlalion of the strategic plan lo Marcia ThoTpe, Chief Execubve Officer ICEOI. The Board and CEO are
governed by a Scheme ol Delegation.
Decision making within the Charity is informed by ongoing 8sse55menl of the internal and exlernal environment
from a local perspective through inyormalion gathered by our incluslon in strategic forums, community networking,
older people consultation events and access to statistical data. as well as throkjgh partner relationships with
likeminded Charilies, Faith Groups and our long-eslablished worklng relatlonship with Commissioneis.
Decision making is influenced from a national perspective through 8 sliong ielalionship with Age UK groups acfOSS
Greater Manchester and Ihe Northwest of England. The organisation also benefits from the Brand Partnership
Agreement with Age UK England. these benefits include training, service development, access to research,
business modelling, access lo granls, marketing and public relations.
This year the Board signed up lo the new Age UK England Network Partnership which replaces the Brand
Partnership Agreernent and also joined the Age UK Gieater Manchester Collective led by CEO'S, the purpose of this
Collective is lo be belter placed lo give a voice to older people across the region and work collaboratively lo meel
the diverse range of needs acr055 these oldeT communilles.

Age UK Tameside constantly revlews the balance and affordability of slaff and volunteers against increasing
dernand for our services. This review information is used to identify Ihe need for new posts, staff developments,
targeted volvnteer recruitrnenl campaigns and oig8ni58ts.onal restructures.
As such during this financial year Ihe Charlly undertook 8 ieview of ils Leadership Team. ¥eplacing the Enterprise
and Development leadership role with a communily based Engagement Role lo be able to reach older people
directly and people, org8nisations and companies who wish to support the Charity's aims and objeclives. The
Charity also outsourced il'5 website maintenance, social media manageTnenl and leaflet design to an external
company via a Service Level Agieemenl.

possible and m3inlain a good qualily of life. Since lunching our 'Living the Values. in May 2018. they are now ful

you donor cards and 501h Celebration wall hanging coll&ges. During ltte financial year 2 Middle¥s moved on havlng

Companies Ael 2006, FRS 102 "The Fin8ncial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic ol
Iieland" and the Charitie5 SORP "A¢counlin9 and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended
Practice applicable to charilies preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financi81 Reporting Standard
applicable in Ihe UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021" The charity is a Public Benefit Enlily 85 defined by
FRS 102.
The charity has taken advantage of the provislons In the SORP for charities not lo prepare 8 Statemenl of
cash nows.
The financial slalements are prepared in sterling. which is the lunclional Cufrency ol the Charity. Monetary
afflounts in these financial stalemenls are rounded lo the nearesl £.
The financlal stalements have been prepared under the hlslorlcal cost convention. The principal accounting
policies adopted are sel oul below.
1.2 Going concer
At Ihe lime of approving the Fillancial StateThent5, the Trustees have a reasonable expectatlon Ihat the
Chaiily has adequate resources lo continue in operational existence for Ihe forseeable lulure, despite
showing a deficit for the year and reseTves being below Ihe laroet level of three rnOTSlhs. The Truslees
continue to adopt the going concern ba5Is of accounling in preparing the Financial Staternenls as they have
projected an improvernenl in results I resetve5 in line with the five-year-plan and development ol new
services. The Charity also has consideiable fixed a5seis on which capital can be raised when required lo
meet any short-lerm funding requirements.
1.3 Charltable lunds
Unreslficled funds are available for use at the discrolion of Ihe trustees in furtherance of their charitable
objectives.
Restricted funds are subjecl lo specllic conditions by donors or grantors as lo how they may be used. The
