In 2024 we offf'n:d a series of courses in the Spring and Summer on a variety of subjects ¢overing women's 18th and 19th centttry dres3, men's tsiloring and waistcoats. fibre weave, daming arid farthingales. These were folowed in July by 8 free wtek4ong oourse for 6 sludeftts to recon$trucl a potychrome caraco or jacket from QUT School collection. A series of t5hort ¢our6es were held for ¢osbJme design and ¢onstruction sbjdenls from the Mason Gross Sthool of Art at Rutgers lJiiiversty, were in London for a study abroad semester. These took place in September and Octobef 2023. Our school also Continued its partnership wth Genesis Theatre Design vthich was founded in 2023 for students from the Global Majority. Six Genesis sludents stuty¢ng stsge and costume design look short series of cla$8es on the hislory Csf dres$ at our school iii October 2023. Conferwce and Fg¥tival of Fashlon. The festiv81 subjects were related to pattems publisPd in the pasl, those being worked on and alsrj those planned for the future. A tsvo day confa'ence was held and theii days of displays and demonstratlons took pla¢e at the school premèsis. Exhlbitions In December 2023 and January 2024 held the third exhibthon 'Our Collection by Colour.. No.3 BROWN, open to the general publi¢ during holiday times of the year when our 8hort...our¥es are not so popular. 'Brown' feabjred three hbjndred years of men's tailoring. The fuurth exhibttion in the s•ries'No.4 RED, was held in September and the first half of October ?024. 'RED' featured led texliles from the Reniiitssance most olwhich have had th¢ir dyestuff5 analyEed and Identified. Each exhibbtion ?ttTacted several hundred visitors from dNerse ba¢kgrounds inclufjing museum professionals, iJres8 history, c0s￿rne and fashion students, dress and fashion enthu$ia$ts, curious local residents and passers by. 'fhe open-door policy to Ihe exhibition has iricreased our profile in IJ1￿ neighbourhood and added another way of edijcating by shar#7g our collection and knovledg about the history of dress Ylth a wider audience.
