## **Report of the Board of Trustees Year end 31st December 2020**

All glory and thanks be to God for seeing us through a very challenging 2020. It is only by the grace of God and, therefore, a privilege to present another annual report and financial statements for the year ended 31st December 2020.

The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out in this document and comply with the charity trust deed, the Statement of Recommended Practice, Accounting and Reporting by Charities and comply with the applicable law.

## **Principal Objectives and Performances**

RCCG His Fullness @ West Bromwich church is a parish of the “ **The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG)”,** which has worldwide

network of churches.

RCCG His Fullness is constituted as a charity in its own right and is therefore governed by the charities Act 1993.

## **The objectives of the Charity are:**

## 1) The advancement of the Christian Faith worldwide

## 2) The relief of poverty

The main objectives and performances for the year continued to focus on relief of poverty and the advancement of the Christian faith as we strive to make a positive impact in our community.

The Covid –19 pandemic presented a challenging environment that affected most areas of human interaction to the degree that unprecedented changes and adaptions swept across vast sectors of global human activity. Communities, cities and nations were locked down in ways that almost overwhelmed the core activities of the Church. The regular and weekly fellowship and social interaction were for most part of the year very restricted, understandably so, by local and national authorities. So as a church and charity, we could not engage our core group and local community as it was before. Since we could not maintain person to person

contact, we had to shift our activities online in order to be able to accomplish our objectives. So we reinvented an online fellowship, where necessary and maintained the status quo with others.

- Worship services every Sunday and other weekly activities involving different families of the Parish held online through broadcast via YouTube or Zoom.

Offerings/donations were collected during these programs for the running & maintenance of the parish, and to help the charity develop and improve on its current accommodation to further enhance our objective of relief of poverty and community cohesion and enhancement.

- Other special programs such as seminars and workshops, as well as outreach activities could not hold due to the pandemic restrictions.

## **Development, activities and achievements this year.**

The Charity continued to strive to ensure the objectives of the charity are met. This year we continued to meet the objectives of furthering the Christian faith and alleviating the sufferings of the people generally irrespective of their race, background, sex or faith, as best as we could. The year had witnessed a major shift in how we share our Christian faith _and helping people develop biblical principles that build up self-esteem_ enabling them to stay out of criminality and social vices.

The church remains keen on strengthening family ties and encourage the youth in pursuit of good and godly values. We tried to maintain the counselling and advisory sessions by telephone on a regular basis to members (and non-members) especially on matters arising as a result of the stress and pressures of the pandemic over family life, finances, jobs, careers and business.

We continued to support and encourage young people by providing a ‘Children / Teenagers’ church online, where children and teenagers meet on Sundays in a relaxed and friendly online atmosphere.

Our teachers operate under the RCCG - wide Child Protection Policy (which we have adapted locally) and we endeavour to regularly update their DBS status.

‘ReKindle’, one of our flagship programs is growing. It is an on-going event set up as a forum for married couples to discuss and learn from one another issues that could strengthen parenting and relationship, as well as preventing breakdown in marriages especially during the lockdown. It is open to all.

We continue to support a number of other charities and organizations involved in giving relief to natural disaster and other emergency incidents around the world. We sponsor two children through Compassion.

We started an outreach to widows/widowers called NAOMI INITIATIVE. On a monthly basis we provide financial support to very vulnerable individuals in this group to help keep them and their families out of poverty. We also actively and strongly support the World Evangelical mission which is furthering the Christian faith all over the world.

This year, trustees consider that the performance of the parish has been satisfactory in terms of advancement of the Christian faith.

**Love Christmas –** We joined a UK wide Church outreach to provide Christmas packs to families within our neighbourhood. We successfully reached out to over 80 homes with food packs and also provided grocery to Karis, a local food bank on our High Street.

## **Current and Future development.**

Sometime in August 2020, when the restrictions were eased, we commenced building up our main hall to allow for the spatial requirements of social distancing. The work was suspended when further restrictions were imposed. However, with God’s help and support and the gallant efforts of the brethren, we were able to build up to the stage where we could start worshipping in the Hall. This has been a major milestone in the progress of the church, and we would like to formally give glory to God and appreciate the prayers, financial support and sacrifices from our members and other

well-wishers toward the project. It is still work in progress, we trust God to complete.

Plans are also being developed to work on a number of schemes:

# We are working with a local community club to set up an over 50’s activity group to enhance social inclusion and a hub for the elderly.

# Our plan to set up a music studio is still ongoing. We have the volunteers willing to offer their skills and talents, but still lacking in fund. The aim is to build up on our current efforts of teaching youngsters to play the drum and keyboard. Some parents and youngsters have registered their interests. # The parish would continue to be a church for all peoples from all nations, and deliberate efforts will continue to ensure that the church remains welcoming to people from all parts of the world.

# We will continue to reach out to our local community and

neighbourhood to promote events aimed at spreading the good news and advancing the Christian faith, as well as improve the quality of life within our borough.

#The Choir, Evangelism and Prayer units would be further strengthened along with other departments of the church to be able to deliver on the spiritual growth and wellbeing of all.

# Helping the homeless: by donating money, clothing and necessary materials for their upkeep especially through existing charities like Salvation Army and Tearfund.

# Having a Day Care facility to help mothers who need day care for their children.

We have increased our involvement with the local community by supporting the local food bank project through our own in-house ‘Bounty Basket’ donations.

Financial results and future activities.

The statement of the financial activities shows income of £82,072.00 and expenditure of £79,180.00. The financial contributions from members has enabled the church to support a good number of organizations, charities, widows and visiting ministers as well as meeting other charitable objectives.

Volunteers.

Many volunteers give up their time to help at the church, particularly at weekends and in the evenings. We are greatly indebted to these volunteers for their commitment and support and pray the blessings of God upon them and their families.

Public Benefit

The charity acknowledges its requirement to demonstrate clearly that it must have charitable purposes or ‘aims’ that are for public benefit. Details of how the charity has achieved this are provided in this report. The trustees confirm that they have paid due regard to the Charity Commission guidance on public benefit before deciding what activities the charity should undertake.

Risk Management.

The trustees actively review the major risks which the charity faces on a regular basis. The trustees have examined the major strategic, business and operational risks which the charity faces and confirm that the systems have been established so that the necessary steps can be taken to lessen these risks including DBS checks on all volunteers working with children.

Approved by the trustees and signed on their behalf by:
