**Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document**
1. To support the development of rural primary education in the Mityana District of Uganda by providing new or improved facilities in schools.
2. To promote sustainable development for the benefit of the public in the Mityana District of Uganda. Sustainable development means “Development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”.
3. To encourage the growth of the local economy in the Mityana District of Uganda by providing financial assistance to establish or build small businesses.
4. To increase international understanding and relationships between the people of North West Hampshire and the people of the Mityana District of Uganda.

These objectives and activities have continued through supporting the following:-
1. Bringing together people across NW Hampshire to keep them informed of what we are doing in Mityana, Uganda by visiting linked UK primary schools, churches and attending Whitchurch Deanery meetings.

2. Supporting the opening, in October 2022 and initial running of the second Health Centre Clinic that we funded the build of in a remote location. Providing support to encourage working towards their adoption of a self-sustaining financial model.
3. Starting new initiatives with two new Women’s Goat Projects.
4. Keeping our web site updated.
5. Offering support for local organisations (schools, churches) to be better informed or do fund raising
6. Initiating an invitation for an opportunity for a small group of adults in the local area to visit the Ugandan projects and linked schools they have been involved in fund raising for.

No-one, absolutely no one (trustees, friends, workers) claim any expenses from the Trust. There is no office, there are no office expenses. No investment accounts are held by the Charity.

## Section D Achievements and performance
1. We have fund raised in our linked UK schools on behalf of our Ugandan rural linked primary schools to:-
- a. build a new, two classroom block at one of our linked schools
- b. complete a maintenance program on Teacher accommodation at a linked school
2. The Chair of the Trustees has continued to visit our UK linked schools to maintain the international understanding between the UK pupils and their fellow pupils in Uganda.

3. We have continued to support the first Health Centre Clinic the Trust funded in a very remote area and opened in October 2019 to assist with continued care to the surrounding communities.
4. We continue to support the kindergarten to a small degree as it moves successfully into its sixth year.
5. We have funded two new groups of nine women in two villages to start (fourth and fifth) goat projects.
6. In October 2022 we commenced the support, in a very remote area, of a second Health Centre clinic that we funded the build of. The Clinic provides pumped water from a bore hole, plus a rainwater tank, solar and mains electricity, a latrine and washroom, staff quarters, as the health centre clinic building itself which includes equipment and a maternity unit.
7. Completion of a local UK awareness and fundraising to provision the part-support 10 Ugandan Lay Readers in Mityana District, through their 2 year training at the local Theological College in Mityana. Funds for their first educational year (2022) were given to them through 2022 and start of their second year in 2023 to allow them to complete their training
8. Further local awarenesss and fund raising, based on the interest shown by the local UK community to support Lay Reader training, allowed for a second Group of 10 to start their two year training in January 2023 with part support from the UK.
9. In February 2023 two Trustees self-funded a Ugandan trip and over a period of nearly 3 weeks visited all 12 linked Ugandan schools and all the existing projects that have been initially funded by the Trust.
- These include a Kindergarten, a Health Clinic, 3 water dams, 4 loan funded women’s projects, 5 women’s goat projects, the two groups of sponsored Lay Readers at the Theological College, a forest project and visited the new Health Clinic that was opened in October 2022.
- A meeting with the Committee was held to review current progress and to provide support to encourage the committee management to work towards their adoption of a self-sustaining financial model.

**during the year**|In the 2022/2023 fnancial year our key focus was:-
**Classroom building**
Over the year £16,020 was spent to build a double
classroom at a linked school (Makonzi) to replace
classrooms that had been destroyed by termite infestation
**Teacher accommodation refurbishment**
Teacher accommodation was refurbished at a linked
school (Bulera). This was in part funded by the small rent
2022/2023 contributions (10,000shs per month for 10
months) that teachers pay who live in accommodation that
was originally built at linked schools from funds provided
by the Trust. These funds for refurbishment were topped
up by £1,500 from the Trust.
**New Health Clinic**
Completion of the build of a new Health Clinic in Buguluma
(total build cost £55,730) that has been fnanced from a
legacy donation. Funding for basic equipment and
maternity equipment and requirements was provided to
allow the Clinic to be opened on October 2022..
**Continued support**
Continued support for the Kindergarten and Butoloogo
Health Clinic has been provided through the year to assist
as they gradually transition to becoming completely self-
funded. This Clinic was impacted by the outbreak of Ebola
in Uganda in October 2022.
**International understanding**
Bringing together people across NW Hampshire to keep
them informed of what we are doing in Mityana, Uganda.
This has cumulated in a new project to help support the
training of 10 Lay Readers in Mityana Diocese and a
further Group of 10 started their two year training in
January 2023.|
