## **Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document**
1. To support the development of rural primary education in the Mityana District of Uganda by providing new or improved facilities in schools.
2. To promote sustainable development for the benefit of the public in the Mityana District of Uganda. Sustainable development means “Development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”.
3. To encourage the growth of the local economy in the Mityana District of Uganda by providing financial assistance to establish or build small businesses.
4. To increase international understanding and relationships between the people of North West Hampshire and the people of the Mityana District of Uganda.
## **Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)**
These objectives and activities have continued through supporting the following:-

1. Bringing together people across NW Hampshire to keep them informed of what we are doing in Mityana, Uganda. Teams of young people have fundraised for link schools to provide new latrines which has been a focus for the 2020-2021 year.
2. Starting a program to build a new Health Clinic in a remote location
3. Starting new initiatives with two new Women’s Groups.
4. Keeping our web site updated.
5. Offering support for local organisations (schools, churches) to be better informed or do fund raising
6. It is noted that during the majority of the 2021-2022 period the Covid-19 pandemic has impacted our ability to either visit the UK linked schools or visit the Uganda projects since October 2019. This has undoubtably impacted the Trust’s objective to increase international understanding and relationships between the UK and Ugandan communities.
- We have though, during this time, always remained in communication with key Ugandan contacts to ensure projects progress, working within the Ugandan Covid regulations.

No-one, absolutely no one (trustees, friends, workers) claim any expenses from the Trust.
There is no office, there are no office expenses.
No investment accounts are held by the Charity.
## Section D Achievements and performance
1. We have fund raised in our linked UK schools on behalf of our Ugandan rural linked primary schools to:-
- a. build an additional four latrines
- b. complete a maintenance program on Teacher accommodation at a school
2. The Chair of the Trustees has continued to visit our UK linked schools to maintain the international understanding between the UK pupils and their fellow pupils in Uganda.
3. We have continued to support the first Health Clinic the Trust funded in a very remote area and opened in October 2019 to assist with continued care to the surrounding communities.
4. We continue to support the kindergarten block to a small degree as it moves into its fifth year.

5. We have funded two new groups of nine women in two villages to start (third and fourth) goat projects.
6. We have started to build, in a very remote area, a second hospital clinic, providing a water tank, solar electricity, a latrine and washroom, staff quarters, kitchen as well as the health clinic building itself which will include equipment and a maternity unit. This is due to open in October 2022.
7. We commenced local UK awareness and fundraising to part-support 10 Lay Readers through their 2 year training at the local Theological College in Mityana. Funds for their first educational year (2022) were given to them in March 2022.
8. In March 2022 three Trustees self-funded a Ugandan trip and over a period of nearly 3 weeks visited all 13 linked Ugandan schools and all the existing projects that have been initially funded by the Trust. These include a Kindergarten, a Health Clinic, 3 water dams, 4 loan funded women’s projects, 2 existing women’s goat projects and the 2 newly established goat projects, the sponsored Lay Readers at the Theological College, a forest project and visited the new Health Clinic that is currently being built where we met the Committee members who will be responsible for the management of the Clinic once it is opened in October 2022.

## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year**
In the 2021/2022 financial year our key focus was:-
## **Latrine building program**
Over the year £8,015 was spent that had been raised by our linked UK schools and local communities to build four new latrines on four of our linked primary schools in Uganda.
## **New Health Clinic**
Starting the build of a new Health Clinic in Buguluma that has been financed from a legacy donation.
## **Continued support**
Continued support for the Kindergarten and Butoloogo Health Clinic has been provided through the year to assist as they gradually transition to becoming completely selffunded.
## **International understanding**
Bringing together people across NW Hampshire to keep them informed of what we are doing in Mityana, Uganda. This has cumulated in a new project to help support the training of 10 Lay Readers in Mityana Diocese.
Acknowledging the impact left in schools from Covid we have offered support for local organisations (schools, churches, adult groups) to be better informed of the Trust’s objectives and outcomes.

All donations are assigned to the various projects/initiatives the Trust supports in Uganda . The funds are then spent in Uganda within a planned program to ensure that reserves are kept to a minimum but still allow us to deliver the outcomes.
