TRUSTEES REPORT

The trustees present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31 August 2025. The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies to with the Charities Act 2011 and with the Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019).

Objectives and Activities

We aim to support and enhance the social fabric of the school for children, parents and teachers, helping to provide a stimulating, enjoyable environment for the children. We encourage parental involvement, organise social occasions for children and parents, carry out fundraising ventures to help local charities and to support activities for the children in addition to those the school offers.

Achievements and Performance

In the year to 31 August 2025, Friends of Kew Green Preparatory School (“the Friends”) raised £34,202 (2024 - £39,813) and made charitable donations of £15,000 (2024- £4,475) - £15,000 to West London Action for Children.

Funds as of 31 August 2025 were £33,388 (2024 - £26,469).

There were two major social events held in 2024-25 and it was very much “business as usual” year, with the charity conducting numerous sales throughout the school year with fundraising activity in line with 2023-24. Income and costs were in line with expectations.

Reporting

It is noted that these financial statements for the year ended 31 August 2025 have been completed and filed past the reporting deadline.

Structure and Governance

There were changes in the trustee committee during the year ended 31 August 2025 and further changes were made after the year ended 31 August 2025, as detailed in the table below.

Governance procedures remain under periodic review and further improvements were implemented, including bringing all payments for events under the control of the trustees.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT

I report to the Trustees on my examination of the financial statements of Friends of Kew Green Preparatory School (“the Charity”) for the year ended 31 August 2025.

Responsibilities and Basis of Report

As the Trustees of the Charity you are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).

I report in respect of my examination of the Charity’s financial statements carried out under section 145 of the Act. In carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independence Status

I acknowledge that I am a parent of a child that attends Kew Green Preparatory School, the school that which the Charity works alongside. I confirm my independence status by which I am not a Trustee of the Charity, am not closely related to a Trustee of the Charity, am not involved in administration of the Charity, have no commercial conflicts and have had no undue influence on me in the review of the financial statements.

Independent Examiner’s Statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that any material respect:

  1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or

  2. the financial statements do not accord with those records; or

  3. the financial statements do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Account and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the financial statements to be reached.
