The Trustees present their report and the unaudlted accounts for the year ended 31
March 2024
Legal Status
The Charity was established by Trust Deed on 13 May 2011 and is registered with the Charity
Commission. Originally called Garage Community Trust the name was changed to LuvEIy-
retaining its Gharitable number (Charity no 1141895). These changes have all been registered
wilh the Charity Commission and recorded on the central register of Charities.
Objectives of LuvEIy
The objeds of the Trust are..
LuvEly, a charity based at the Lighthouse Centre. Our doors are open for people of all
backgrounds, no matter their personal beliefs or situation in life. We aim to bring together the
community, offering practical help and tackling isolation. Through social clubs for the elderly,
and youth clubs. The community fridge (LuvEly Pantry) tackles food waste and helps those in
need.
To provide services to the wider, local community and to advance, social cohesion, and welfare
and enrich life, physically, emotionally, and spiritually in the locality by 1. relief of povety,
sickness and distress 2. the promotion of good health, 3, the provision of recreational facilities
in the interest of social welfare with the object of improving their Gonditions of life and any other
such charitable purposes, according to the laws of England and Wales, as the trustees shall
see fit.
Organisation
LuvEly based at 13 Lynn Road, Ely Cambridgeshire is the home of various other projects
including many support groups for the local community. The Trusl endeavours to achieve its
aims and objectives through the various strategies outlined below. The trustees have due
regard for the Charity Commission's general and supplementary guidance on public benefit
concerning Ihe Trust's aims and constantly seek to maximise the Trust's benefit to the public
and community at large.
Review of developments, activities and achievements in the year and plans for the future
The charity continued to carry out its core objectives throughout the year with activities
continued both in person and its online presence on social media websites. LuvEly offers
access via several methods including Facebook and Instagram.
The Trust continues to build on the firm foundations already established and is always looking
for ways to improve and augment the facilities and opportunities
LuvEly continues to distribute focKJ, clothing and other items to vulnerable people and
those on low or no income.
The Pantry offers food for all. Working on reducing food waste.

Community work continued with an emphasis on the young, parents with small children
and youth.
The charity reached out to the older people in our community, through social clubs and
lunches.
Activities are undertaken which can be classed as 'public benefit,
A panty and a food bank provide food and clothing to people in times of need.
Home packs were given to people entering the local hostel some fleeing domestic
violence.
Free meals and support for all those in need.
Food donations are taken and given to local families.
Community hub drop-in and outreach to the isolated and vulnerable.
Feeding the community with hot meals at the warm hub.
Youth work for the benefit of secondary school-age children, offering informal education.
Extensive summer programs and School holidays with activities for the community
Working with elderly people who are isolated and vulnerable through social interaction,
providing hot meals and informal education.

o LuvEly Pantry (community fridge)
o Support organisations for those with additions.
o Sportsldanceldrama for teenagers
Financial progress
The principle applied is that individual courses & events should cover costs wherever possible
and that funds should be invested with that hope.
The Board of Trustees is satisfied that the charity's assets are available and adequate to fulfil
its obligations.
Policy on reserves
The Trustees have resolved to establish reserves lo provide for future activities.
The policy on reserves is that the existing assets are retained to produce income which is
wholly utilised to support existing activities. There is no intention in the long term to either
increase or reduce the capital held. LuvEly aims to have in place 3 months of expenditure kept
in reserve. This policy is justified in that it is necessary to preserve income at the present levels
to maintain the activities of the charity.
Statement of Trustees, Responsibilities
Law applicable to Charities in England and Wales requires the Board ofTrustees to prepare
financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the charity's
financial activtties during the year of its financial position at the end of the financial year. In
preparing these financial statements giving a true and fair view, the Board of Trustees should
follow best practiGes-
Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently
Make judgments and estimates that are reasonable and prudent

State whether applicable accounting standards and statements of eecommended
practice have been followed, subject to any departures disclosed and explained in the
financial statemenls.
Prepare the financial statements on an ongoing concern basis unless it is appropriate to
presume that the Charity will continLte to operate.
The Trustees are also responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with
reasonable accuracy the financial position of the charity and which enable them to ascertain the
financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply
with the requirements of applicable laws and regulations. They are also responsible for
safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention
and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

I report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 31 March 2024 

## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner** 

The Charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under Section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to: 

a) examine the accounts (under sl45 of the Charities Act 

b) follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners under sl45 (5) (b) of the Charities Act and 

c) to state whether particular matters have come to my attention 

## **Basis of the examiner's report** 

My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners for England & Wales. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the Charity and a comparison of the accounts with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning such matters. 

The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a "true and fair 

## **Independent Examiner's Statement, report and opinion** 

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention 

1) which gives us reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements: a) to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Act; and 

b) to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the accountirnz reauirements of the Charities Act
