OWEcfivES AND ACTIVITIES
Summary of the purposes of the charlty
As stated In Wotton Bapt15t Church's Governlng Document the'prlncipal purpose of the Church Is the advancemeht of the
Chrlstlan falth accordlng to the prlnclples of the Baptlst denomlnatloh. The Church may also advance edvcatlon and carry gul
other charltable purposÈs in the Unlted Klngdom andlor other parts of the world.,
Summary of the maln attlvltlès In relatlon to those purposes for the publ1¢ benellt, In partlcular, the 8ttlvltlesi projects or
servl¢es Identllled In the accounts
Durlng the reportln8 period the church has achleved Its prlnclpal purpose by seeklng to provSde splrltual and practical help to
indivlduals, wlthln and connetted to the church and to bless and bèneflt our local, natlonal and Internatlonal communltle5
through our Ilnks. Many actlvlties have bÈÈn undertaken and these are set out In the'charltable actlvltles" settlon bèlow, and11
Is consldered that they are all for the publlc benefSt.
stat•mÈnt ¢onflrmlnEwhether the trustee$ have had regard to the guldancè Issuèd by the Charlty Commlsslon on publlc
beneflt
The Trustees have referred to the @uldance contained In ihe Charity Commlsslon's Eeneral guldance on publlc benent when
plannin8 our current and future actlvltles and belleve that they comply wlth thls guldance.
Achlèvements and Performance
Throughout the reportirig perlod the church has a¢tlvely complled with statutory requlrements such as data protectlon and
gafeguardlng, Safeguardlng check5 are kept vp to date. As part of thè general debate abovt dlverslty In or8anlsalions the church
seeks to engèÈe wlth and encourage people from all bzckgrouwtd5- one area of strength for the church Is Its èngagement with
familles wSth chlldren with speclal needs.
ConBreBatlonal
The church has flourlshed throvgh 2025 followlng the arrlval of our mlnlster Re¢d Andy Eyre, who started hls tlmé with us
on 2 Jan 2025, Thls has been a year of 8ettlng to know one another, Andy has brought fresh vltallty to our worshlp and our
Sunday SeNlces. Andy and hls wlfe come to the church wlth both havlng hatl tonslderable experlence from servlng
In prevlous churches and In other profèssional roles In chrlstlan Ilfe, Th¥ough the year we took tlme to pause and conslder
how people were feellng and what they were dlscerning about next steps for thè Church.
Partly as a response to thls deslre to pause and reflect we cancelled tsur usual holiday club In 2025. Meanwhlle. church
membershlp has remèlned stable, albelt wlth flux- new membeisloinlng and some people movlng on, The
church remalns £ommltted io. and belleves, that our levèl of membershlp reflects an appetSte for an evangèllcal stance coupled
to a modern style of worshlp and a hablt of communlty actlvltles. It also fèflects a commltment wlthln members and attendee5 to
understand and apply the Christlan falth in thelr Ilves, whlch In turn benellts the local community. The church had 99 members
at the end ol the year. I down from the beginnlng of the year. A headcount towards the end of the year across 2 Sundays
documented that on a Sundayi 97 adults an(J 33 under 18's altended. An addltlonal sm311 but cons15tent number attended by
Zoom. We held 3 baptlsms by full immersion thls year. Across all actlvltles the church was in contact wSth a larger number
of adults and under 18's demonstratlngthat the church reaches beyond Its membershlp to support the local communltv.
One notable challenge for the church thls year has been that 3 trustees, IncludSng the treasurer, stepped down In September
havlng completed elther 2 or In the case of the treasurer 3, 3-year perlods of servlce. For a short perlod,
between September and November, thls left just three trustees to cover all responslbllltle5, and th5s was partly mltlgated by
puttlng an Interlm finance teèm In plate. In November, two new trusteeslolned the team whlch eased the burden. Throughout
thls perlod we malntalned a Irustee responsible for 5afe8uardlng and trustee responslblllty for flnance- albelt thls latter role was
lolntly owned by all three trustees.
