## **ST JOHN’S with TRINITY TREWOON METHODIST CHURCH, Charity No 1141726 BODMIN ROAD, ST AUSTELL, CORNWALL, PL25 5AE** ## **ANNUAL REPORT AND ACCOUNTS 31 AUGUST 2024** St John’s with Trinity Trewoon Methodist Church is one of the churches in the St Austell Methodist Circuit, Cornwall Methodist District. From 1 September 2024, the Cornwall Methodist District became part of the new SW Peninsula Methodist District. Methodist churches with an income under £100,000 do not yet have be registered as a charity but St John’s with Trinity is because its income in 2009 exceeded that limit due to a fund-raising initiative to renew the roof. The charity number is 1141726. During the year under report it merged with Trinity Methodist Church Trewoon, to form St John’s with Trinity Trewoon Methodist Church. It had 56 members as at August 2024. Working with Churches Together in St Austell, St John’s with Trinity Trewoon aims to - be two active Christian Fellowships within the life of the local community, offering warm fellowship and hospitality - provide meaningful and relevant worship which celebrates God’s love in Christ and reflects human diversity - provide opportunities for lifelong spiritual development of children, young people and adults - follow Jesus Christ through studying scripture, being good neighbours and challenging injustice - offer a quiet, welcoming space for reflection, meditation and prayer for all - be open about faith valuing everybody regardless of gender, status or religion - support local and global charities with time, money and facilities The aims were partially achieved through the following activities during the year of this report, even though the attendance and activities were not fully normal due to the continuing effect of the pandemic. - Public worship on Sundays (In two venues) and other days of the week – attendance improved gradually during the year, reaching 40 or more during the most popular services. Regular communion services were held on Tuesdays. All services in the St John’s church are now livestreamed on Zoom as well. - Café Churches were held regularly and proved popular. - Work with young people happened on most Sundays of the year. - Prayer fellowship – attendance remained steady during 2023-4 with an average attendance around 12 in person or online. - A wide range of social activities and events including coffee mornings, concerts, and social evenings involved some hundreds of people. - Support of charities including Christian Aid, Water Aid collection, Action for Children, World vision sponsorship of a child in Ethiopia, as well as subsidizing local charitable fundraising concerts. - A Bible Study group has met regularly and studied the book of Genesis – this has been wholly online. - Monthly Sunday lunches for friends and members of St John’s with Trinity – approximately 70 lunches are served to many elderly, frail and isolated people. - Provision of a Daycare Centre on three days each week in partnership with Age UK (Cornwall) at St John’s which caters for up to 30 vulnerable adults each day, with a service provided quarterly. This provides meals and support off-premises. Good work is being done to support the elderly and vulnerable - The provision of Vaccination Clinics when required by the NHS - Provision for facilities for AA and Kernow Men’s Group, both social and charitable activities - The Easter Musical on Good Friday 2024 was Joseph - A community venue for arts and community groups for weekly and annual events – the Camera Club, Restormel Concert Band, and the St Austell Festival resumed its full format. - During the year under review there were three christenings and four funerals. The Circuit’s revised strategy continued to be followed by St John’s with Trinity in its work and witness, covering finance, property, worship, fellowship and community.
