01-3 Pastor's Report

Firstly, I would like to thank you all for being such an amazing bunch of people, for all your support, prayer, love, giving and service to the Lord in MBC and the community during this last year. It feels we’ve grown over this last year as a family both numerically, and relationally and have set good foundations to continue to flourish as a fellowship in love, growing people and gifts and pursuing Jesus’ Great commission to make disciples of all nations.

I’ve been very encouraged to see new people serving the Lord and getting involved in so many ways across the church and in its mission, blending wonderfully together to be more visibly what we are, ONE BODY.

We have had the joy of further baptisms this year, through outreach and children, families and youth work. Five young people were baptised last November after making firm commitments at the Yorkshire camp and attending the Youth group. It’s been many years since the church have baptised that many young people at one time. This was added to by a further four adults from Outreach ministries at Easter.

I’d like to thank the leadership team who have served tirelessly, and especially those who are now standing down having served 6 years. You guys are amazing! We pray they will be refreshed and find their next steps in following Jesus and what He is calling them into. I am delighted to have 4 new deacons offering to serve for this next season.

I would like to thank you for granting a sabbatical, a time for spiritual, physical and emotional renewal. I’m also at the end of completing my training as a newly accredited minister and just about completed a MA degree in Ministry and Mission. So, thank you so much for that opportunity, I have grown so much personally and spiritually with a wider view of Baptist Mission in ministry.

As you read the reports from the various ministries, let’s give thanks to our Father for His goodness, grace and faithfulness.

Disciple Making: There are a number of areas where we need to focus, firstly in making disciples. Jesus called us to make disciples, not converts. Discipleship across all ages involves deeper relational ministry, and combines that with a call to live out a lifestyle as a witness to the transforming power of God’s grace, in everyday circumstances. It involves growing in our walk with Jesus and our service to Him, and requires us to equip everyone of all ages for service and witness. For some, that may even be an apostolic call to full time ministry, evangelism, or going to plant new things in new places.

At our recent Leadership Away day, we prayed and received direction from the Word of God and prophetic pictures. One of the pictures was a series of jigsaws of nests with pieces missing, and another of the process of the vine bearing fruit. As this has been prayed over, I believe that the Lord is saying that for the church to bear more fruit in more people of all ages there needs to be more spiritual parents in our church, these can be of any age but need to be further ahead, and have signs of maturing beyond the spiritual children assigned to them. The picture of the nest I believe is the containers for nurturing new birth through small groups where nurturing, preparation, deeper relationships, good fun, pastoral care, developing people/ spiritual parents/leaders and mission all come together to make disciples who make more disciples.

We will again be setting time aside to deepen our knowledge of God’s Word over this coming year. We have booked the ‘Walk Through The Bible’ to deliver the New Testament overview for us on September 27th, and I’m exploring doing a course on Revelation, as it’s a book that’s probably the most relevant to our times, and is of interest to many people. But it’s also the least preached and read because of the difficulty in interpretation. I would also like the church to consider running a marriage course this year.

At that Away Day we agreed that we need to increase the opportunities for praying consistently as a whole church family, including children and young people. We suggested to start on a Sunday evening from October 2025 5-6pm. We are agreed this should be our first priority if we are going to fulfil God’s calling for our church.

Financial Stability and Blessing.

We have called a meeting to explain more about the importance of balancing our finances well. Firstly, this is God’s will - that we are good stewards of all he gives to us. But as a church, we have opportunities to increase our mission. I would like to see this church reach and disciple young people and young adults from the community around us, and to be able to further grow those ministries in our church.

We’re also part of a partnership to further plant a Christian community on Oaktree estate, we are currently in discussion with Mansfield Council about releasing a building, which will need renovation and some finance, to develop as a community hub and coffee shop which will serve some of needs for recovery work, access-to-work programmes, and much more. This will take the street church project and the Rooted Biglife disciple making groups into wider relationships with people on the estate so the Gospel can continue to bear fruit and impact the area. To be in a position to support these or other projects we have to be financially stable first with a balanced budget.

And finally, be encouraged—you can bear even more fruit of the Kingdom!

Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. John 4:35

One of privileges of overseeing of a church is that I get to see God at work in so many people, and situations and also hear lots of testimonies of God’s amazing grace and power at work both in the street outreach, the ministry on Oaktree estate and the ordinary walk of life. I’d like to share a few of those with you, just from the last two weeks, where I have glimpsed into God’s extraordinary work through the lives of ordinary people.

Someone shared testimony of how they overheard a lady and their friend talking about churches, and they mentioned our church as she was the aunty of someone who was recently baptised here. So prompted by the Holy Spirit, the person was able to share that they came to our church and was able to invite them to join one of the Church’s groups. An ordinary people, in every day places, prompted by the Holy Spirit, to step out and do extraordinary things in His name.

The following week, I met someone who was stood in a queue waiting to be served. The lady was a Muslim. They felt prompted to speak to them about Jesus, but the queue was so big, they felt under pressure so didn’t say anything in that moment, but knew that they needed to go back and share the next time they went into that shop. They now carry copies of John’s Gospel with them to give out as they feel prompted by the Holy Spirit. An ordinary people, in everyday places, prompted by the Holy Spirit to do extraordinary things in His name.

Someone who is so quiet and unassuming and probably would be the least likely person most of us would expect to do this - was in hospital for an operation. She was praying for herself, asking for God’s help. A person in the ward, who had twisted legs and was struggling to walk, asked if they could have prayer, so the person put a hand on their knee and simply asked Jesus to straighten their legs in Jesus’ name. The person receiving the prayer asked the nurse if they could try and walk and they said yes, and they didn’t just walk, they ran down the corridor. An ordinary people, in everyday places, prompted by the Holy Spirit to do extraordinary things in His name.

Another person in church the other day, asked me if I knew any Christian apologetics courses or materials as they wanted to be a witness to friends and colleagues at work, but they were atheists, of another faith and had lots of reasons why Christianity is wrong. An ordinary people, in everyday places, prompted by the Holy Spirit to do extraordinary things in His name.

When I hear what Jesus said about the fields being white for Harvest, and His call to us to look up and see, and not to say ‘The harvest is still four months away’, in other words we are to be aware of God’s harvest field as we go about our daily lives now. In another Gospel, Jesus uses the same picture of the harvest, but says “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few”. Pray to the Lord of the harvest to send workers. I realise now that what Jesus is saying is, it’s not that the workers are few but that the workers in the harvest field are fewer than He wanted! So we are the answer to that prayer when we - as ordinary people, in everyday places, prompted by the Holy Spirit, to step out and do extraordinary things in His name.

May you be blessed in your calling, and may this church equip you well to be a witness in the harvest field around you - as you go about your daily life, wherever the Lord may send you.

Much Love to you all

Mark and Jane

Financial Report 04

You will see a detailed presentation of our accounts at our AGM, after they have been checked by our auditor Patrick Henderson.

This year has seen us end the year with a ‘general fund’ deficit of only £2,461. Our general fund has decreased in the last 12 months from £35,998 to £33,537. This is a very encouraging outcome when we originally forecasted a significant deficit of over £13,000 at the beginning of the financial year. The overwhelming reason why we outperformed our original budget deficit is because of increased giving from within our faithful and generous fellowship. With giving up nearly £7,600 (7%) from the giving anticipated. Praise God!!! This explains three quarters of the improved financial performance. The remainder is largely due to small expenditure savings

Of course, our goal must remain to continually strive to break even as this will ensure the long-term stability of our Church finances.

Our income this year was £175,949. Our expenditure £167,155. With our general fund deficit of £2,461 and an increase in our designated funds of £11,255.

This last 12 months has seen significant spend on our building. We have spent nearly £15,000 on our building. Our Church is now over 50 years old and inevitably the building will continue to need to be maintained and improved. The most notable work was a new hall floor and renovation and improvements to the Vestry and our 3in1 room. These improvements would not have been possible without the generous donations received to these specific projects. More work is planned this year and undoubtedly expense is required to improve the provision of heating within the Church which was exceptionally poor this last winter. We remain thankful for those people within our Church who have led on these projects and ensured the work is carried out to a high standard on our behalf. Thank you.

You all continue to amaze us with your kind donations to causes locally, nationally and worldwide. Donations overseas for our Uganda Fund totalled £1,600. Leprosy Mission £1,080, BMS Birthday Fund £781. Bags Of Hope and Outreach Food supporting people in our local community in great need included donations over £3,150, and for the Homeless in our local area £760 was donated. Thank you to everyone who gives so generously, or has helped in the raising of these funds to ensure our Church can bless so many people and show the love of Christ to those who are in the greatest need. Thank you.

From our Mansfield Baptist Church general fund we also contributed £12,000 last year towards mission work locally, across the country and worldwide supporting ALL who are in need, wherever they may be. Thank you for your continued support and prayers.

Neil Meadows

Church 05-6 Administrator

It continues to be a joy and privilege to serve you all as Church Administrator at MBC. Even in the space of one week, there’s always something new happening —and through it all, I see God’s faithfulness in both the practical and pastoral moments of church life.

A few months ago, I joined UCAN (the UK Church Administrators Network).

Since then, I’ve become part of their Facebook group, which has been a really supportive space to share ideas and connect with others doing similar work.

I also met with a local group in Southwell—a really encouraging time of conversation, prayer, and mutual support. While there are challenges in the role at times, it was good to be reminded that others understand and that we can learn from one another.

I will be attending the national conference in Manchester in July.

Through UCAN, I joined a Zoom session focused on DBS and safeguarding training flows, using ChurchSuite, our church management system. It gave me some really helpful ideas, and I hope to start putting some of them into place later this year to make our safeguarding admin clearer and more consistent.

This year, I have added a three-month calendar to the newsletter, sharing upcoming events and regular activities. It’s available as a link in the newsletter, in hard copy at the welcome desk, or on request.

If you don’t currently receive the newsletter, you’ll soon be able to sign up via the website—or simply fill in a welcome card and I’ll make sure you’re added.

One of the major projects this year has been the creation of our new website, which is now very near completion.

While I wouldn’t call myself a web designer, I’ve enjoyed putting it together, and I hope it will be clear, helpful, and welcoming for those who use it.

Thank you to Jonathon for designing the previous site and for his support over the years.

Work is underway to update our signs outside the church building. I’m currently waiting on final quotes, before moving ahead with the design stage.

We have a church Facebook group to help us stay connected during the week.

If you haven’t joined yet, do take a look—and if you have a testimony to share, we’d love to hear it!

Prayer requests can be sent to prayer@mansfieldbaptist.church. If you’d like to receive regular prayer updates, just let me know and I’ll add you to the list. And if we’ve been praying about something—do let us know how it’s going. We love to hear answers to prayer and give thanks together!

One of my responsibilities is the coordination of weddings and funerals. I serve as the Registrar for weddings. I work closely with Mark and the couples throughout the process, and I’m currently putting together a wedding information pack to help couples feel well supported and prepared from the beginning. I also coordinate funerals, working with families and Mark to help ensure the service runs smoothly and if any hospitality is needed. A few times this year, I’ve stepped in to help with basic tech at funerals, which has only increased my appreciation for our dedicated tech team who faithfully serve on Sundays—I truly take my hat off to them!

We would love to see more people involved in supporting weddings and funerals—particularly with hospitality, setting up, and tech (especially). If you feel able to serve in this way, I’d love to hear from you.

Thank you to Neil for his continued support as my line manager, and to Kia for her help on Friday mornings in the office. Also to Sue for all she does, especially with hospitality for events.

Finally, I am thankful to serve in this role and look forward to all that God has in store for the year ahead.

God Bless

Cathy

07-8

Here is a brief update of the past year. God has been faithful and blessed the Children, Youth and Families at Mansfield Baptist Church. I have spent the past few months looking at my role and evaluating it. What a blessing it is to say it has become too large for me to be involved in it all. Over the past year I’ve been involved in the First Steps, a toddler leavers group for parents and Youth

Night, teaching in Sunday Groups, a Biglife Mums group, lots of meetings and admin as well as time supporting families. There have been events, lunches and the All Age services so life has been busy. We have been blessed over the past year with a lot of growth but now the work begins, maintaining this and helping them all grow and flourish in their faith. For everyone reading this my biggest request is please pray, for the children, youth, volunteers and the vision for this work.

SUNDAY GROUPS

Our younger groups, Seedlings and Rise have been studying the life of Moses over the past

two terms, breaking for Christmas and Easter teaching. It has

been awesome to see the children grow in their faith and our discussion times about the bible passage are becoming more engaging. It has been lovely to hear that some of the children have been wanting to read the bible at home and chat about the passage. As a result of this we are partnering with parents after Easter by sending out the bible passage and theme each week so parents can continue conversations at home during the week.

Rooted, our young persons group, have been studying biblical characters in their weekly sessions. It has been wonderful to see some of the children and youth become involved in the worship group.

We would love all our children and youth to become integrated into the church life by serving in various ways as it is a known fact that children and youth brought up in the church are more likely to stay if they are involved and have relationships Jesus said, with others in the congregation. We will be encouraging our year 12+ to “Let the little take part in church life but I also believe the younger children children come to me, and youth have lots to give and gifts to share. God loves and and do not hinder them, uses young and old alike. We need to INVEST IN THEM, ENCOURAGE THEM and RAISE THEM UP. This isn’t just about for the kingdom of heaven telling them how to do it, this is coming alongside them, letting them belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19 v14 try new ways, having enough grace to let them change things and (NIV) supporting them. It’s going to be MESSY but we need LOVE THEM OUTRAGEOUSLY and take care of them.

FIRST STEPS

Our toddler groups is always a joy to be part of on a Wednesday morning. We enjoy sharing Gods love with the children and parents/carers. At Easter and Christmas we have great opportunities, and this term we have made Prayer and Praise Bags in our craft times and encouraged the families to pray together at home using this. We are thankful for grants from the district and county council that have meant we have continued to

only charge £1.

YOUTH

Our weekly youth group has continued flourish. There have

been lively discussions and crazy activities. It’s difficult to pick out the best bits as every week is amazing but this year the five baptisms and the youth alpha sleepover have to be top of the list. We have been on many trips out including recently going to see the Watoto Children’s Choir which was amazing and thought provoking for us all.

A massive thank you to Jenny Shepherd who has been running this group on Tuesdays, she will now be taking over all the contact for this group so that I can step back and concentrate on other areas of children, youth and families work in the church.

TRAINING

their continued support and generosity in allowing me to go on training events. Jen and I went away for 4 days in January to the Growing Young Disciples Conference at Yarnfield Park. This was a time for some excellent bible teaching, the theme this year was ‘Christ: Prophet, Priest, and King’, and it was a time to be restored and encouraged after a busy year Starting our day with breakfast at 7.30am, Jen and I managed to fill our time with praise and worship, seminars, prayer and a trip to the pick and mix sweet station on the last day. Termly I meet online with other toddler group leaders for training and encouragement. Hearing what God is doing in the lives of toddlers, children and youth around the world is extremely encouraging.

I would like to say a massive thank you to all the people who serve so faithfully in the children, families and youth ministry. If you think you can volunteer in a group, back display boards, support big events or help in any way please come and have a chat with me.

Worship

Keeping our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. Hebrews 12 v 2

A few months ago, I took a picture of the sun on a Cornwall beach. When I looked at it, I was amazed at how the camera had captured the sun perfectly, forming a cross.

“I fix my eyes upon the cross- You are greater, Jesus, You are greater than it all. Grace and mercy found me. Oh, the blood of Jesus, is greater.” (Jake Issac)

. Those words remind me of the importance that worship is all about Jesus and our heavenly Father - nothing more.

Worship becomes a powerful act when it centres our hearts and minds on Him. When we worship, we declare that Jesus reigns above all circumstances, and His cross is the ultimate symbol of victory and redemption.

Last year, I shared our vision for involving young people in the team, and I am thankful for how this has developed and continues to grow. The children and youth make such a difference to worship.

Matthew 19.v14 - “Let the little children come to Me”.

I work with a team consisting of technicians, media/camera operators, singers, and musicians of all ages. I appreciate each one of them

We are currently focusing on training young worship leaders and involving youth in all tech and media roles. Training is being arranged and will commence soon. We have also recently welcomed adult vocalists to join us.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers for this ministry.

This year, we had a team social to thank everyone. Another will be arranged in the autumn, when everyone returns from their holidays.

Thanks Jane

Women’s Ministry

Bloom is our women’s group that meets monthly on the second Saturday at 7pm. We launched in September last year with Worshipcise (and lots of cake!) and have since enjoyed a variety of evenings designed to bring women together in friendship, fun, and encouragement.

So far we’ve hosted:

A Quiz Night

A Board Games Night where we ended up just chatting, with lots of laughter and getting to know each other more

A peaceful evening of Soaking in the Holy Spirit

Talks, including one on the theme of food and God, which was very enlightening

One of the blessings this year has been our Pamper Night in February, which brought over 30 women into the church, many who were outside the church, and some from other churches. We’re excited to be holding another one on Friday 14th June, and pray it will again create a relaxed and welcoming space for new connections. If you bake or buy some cakes, we’d appreciate that!

While attendance has been lower than we’d hoped, we truly believe there is great potential for this ministry to grow. Each month brings something different, and we want to warmly encourage more women—from within the church and beyond—to come along. Bring a friend, come as you are, and be part of what God is doing through Bloom.

A big thank you to everyone who has helped make Bloom possible— especially Dorcas, Karen, and Maddie for their support with setting up, refreshments, and more.

Please continue to pray for this ministry as it moves forward. We’re excited for what lies ahead and trust that, in God’s timing, Bloom will continue to grow into a space where women feel seen, supported, and spiritually nourished.

Cathy & Jeanette

For those who may not know, this is a long-running WhatsApp group for women at MBC. It’s a space for support, encouragement, prayer, and sharing everyday faith—a place to walk alongside one another in our relationship with God and in daily life. If you would like to join, just speak to Mel Lambley or Cathy Mumford—we’d love to add you to the group.

Pastoral 12

Jesus said “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. John 13 v34

The Pastoral Care Team serve as the eyes, ears and hands of the church, delivering care to the vulnerable and those in need of help and support in the fellowship. We have a core group of 7 members, including our pastor, who meet together regularly but there are also another 6 pastoral visitors that help and support this work by regularly keeping in contact with others in the fellowship – most of whom cannot get to church either at all or as much as they would like. One of our members who cannot get out and about much has just started supporting our ministry with regular phone calls to contact others in a similar situation and these are much appreciated. When any of our fellowship are in hospital we also contact the hospital chaplaincy to ensure that person receives spiritual as well as medical support.

During the past year we have taken out special “goody bags” at Harvest, Christmas and Easter to show people that although they may sometimes be out of sight they are certainly not out of mind. These are always much appreciated, as are the conversations and prayers that accompany them. All these bags contained a letter from the Pastor and Leadership Team, ideas for appropriate Bible readings and prayers as well as card from the fellowship, a card from the children and a small gift. The highlight for many of those who received these bags were the lovely handmade cards from the children. They bought smiles to lots of faces!

You can support this important ministry in several ways. If you know anyone who needs extra help or support please inform one of the core team. If you would be willing to consider being a Pastoral Visitor and committing to visit someone regularly please talk to Jenny Clark who organises the regular visits. Last but not least, please pray for those of us involved in this ministry, as we do our best to show God’s amazing love to others who for the long term or short term need extra reassurance of His love and care, reminding them how valued and special they are to Him, and to us.

Pastoral Care Core Team – Pastor Mark Herd, Clive Butcher, Jenny Clark, Margaret Selley, Dorcas Burnett, Jean Durrant, Joyce Bowskill

Mission: Rooted

This mission has been, and is, a wonderful opportunity to meet with the residents and community of Oaktree. We have been in ministry there for several years. We share the Gospel and the good news of Jesus Christ. We have seen—and are continuing to see—lives transformed by the Gospel. Several have given their lives to Christ, and we have seen baptisms come from this.

Many are in Big Life groups, and this is continuing to grow and flourish, with more people growing in faith and in their walk with Jesus. A wonderful community has bonded together, and so much love, support, fellowship, and friendship is

really evident within this ministry.

It's an absolute privilege to be part of—seeing so many individuals’ lives changed for the better and transformed as they walk with Christ.

Bags of Hope & 14 Blessing Bags

We have needed less of the Bags of Hope which is a blessing, but we have still given hope to some families with a food shop that has everything they need for a week's meals and snacks.

For this outreach, the requests come from various organisations and people. Normally the family have hit a difficult time, and the fact they don't have to worry about feeding the family gives them hope that things will get better and they are loved.

The money paid in to this is a real help with the huge increase in the cost of a weekly shop. A huge thank you to the regular givers.

The Blessing Bags have continued to be made and taken to the street church outreach each week.

We had a lovely delivery from the harvest festival from the Queen Elizabeth school which was a real help.

We pack 24 bags of a few different staples each week. which are then distributed on the Oaktree estate, blessing the people who attend.

We have had help from Robbie in October to December as he was doing his Duke of Edinburgh bronze award, which was lovely.

During the time I was off, the help came from various people in church with Julie Cook doing the largest part of the 3 months.

At Christmas Sue and Ted sorted the special blessing bags.

The blessing bags are a part of the street church outreach work, and we hear that there is growth in this this area - a blessing and encouraging to all.

The blessing bags from the cupboard have helped people through the year who just need something for that week to help them manage until funds are available again.

How can you help?

Prayer

We can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

BMS Church Partners 15

Claire Bedford. Claire Bedford serves as a pharmacist and a member of the management team with BMS World Mission at the Guinebor 2 Hospital, N’Djamena, Chad.

In her latest prayer letter, Claire reports the pharmacy is next on the list in the on-going renovation project. The suspended ceilings in the pharmacy, which were low and rickety, have been taken down, and higher, fixed ceilings are being put up.

Part of the duties of the management team are to meet with the staff representatives to discuss issues relevant to the Chadian staff, and holding monthly meetings with the Chadian heads of departments. The hospital has 123 staff but with teamwork and God’s grace, it happens, and patients continue to trust the hospital and come for care.

Claire says she really appreciates our ongoing support in prayer and also financially via the BMS 24:7 Partners’ scheme.

Benjamin and Gillian Francis. Ben Francis is supported by BMS World Mission and works with Biglife as an evangelist in the northern states of India. In a recent prayer letter Ben says that, during the Christmas season, they had the opportunity to spread the good news of Jesus in thousands of villages across India.

As a result, people in these villages have expressed a growing interest in knowing more about Jesus. The Jesus Film has also been shown in many new villages and hearts have been touched and a deepening interest in the teachings of Jesus Christ in new communities.

Ben writes about Satyanarayan, an avid reader of Hindu religious texts. ‘Despite his extensive studies, [Satyanarayan] felt an unquenchable thirst for spiritual truth. His search for answers seemed endless, leaving him unfulfilled and unsatisfied. That was when he received a New Testament from one of our leaders, which proved to be a turning point in his life. As he delved into the Gospel of John, he encountered the truth about God that he had been searching for. The words of Jesus resonated deeply within him, and he found himself drawn to the Gospel message. His new found faith awakened a sense of conviction within him. He realized that he was a sinner in need of redemption and that he needed to be born again. This transformation sparked a desire to share his discovery with others. Today, praise God his home has become a hub for spiritual growth, with Bible studies taking place three times a week. His eagerness to learn more about the truth is inspiring, and his testimony serves as a beacon of hope for those seeking spiritual fulfilment.’

Philip and Rose Lotimong. Philip Lotimong is senior pastor of Heart of Love Ministries based in Mbale, Uganda. His connection with our church comes through working alongside me during my many visits to Uganda. I count Philip among my closest friends.

Philip has a passion to reach the unreached people in Karamoja, his homeland. During March Philip and members of his team met with pastors in the region to discuss further outreach opportunities. The meeting was very encouraging and productive.

Philip has identified unreached people groups he has a desire to reach. Morukori Tribe (Mountains of Morungole, Kabong): This community resides 2700 metres above the Karamojong plains. They are not herders and are known for their resistance to visitors. They depend on honey and interactions with the Nyite Utho tribe, a group known for traditionalism and witchcraft. Nyite Peth Tribe (Mountains of Nakapiripirit - Kadam/Tepeth Mountain): Another unreached group requiring focused outreach.

Barabaig Tribe (Wabarabaig, in Swahili): A nomadic Datooga people group based in the northern volcanic highlands near Mount Hanang, Manyara Region, Tanzania. They number about 50,000 and follow traditional animist beliefs, relying on hunting, farming, and animal husbandry. Please pray God’s clear guidance for Philip and his team as they make plans to fulfil their part in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20).

We are hoping to see Philip and Rose in the UK soon, and may be around at the time of the AGM. We look forward to seeing them and hearing of their work.

Recovery 16

Recovery helps people towards healing and a greater freedomwhich God has promised for us all. People joining the Recovery group are starting a journey that helps to heal past hurts and wounds, reduce feelings of unworthiness, anxiety and inferiority and remove blockages to developing a closer, healthier relationship with God and others.

Recovery is for anyone . It is difficult to go through life without facing some negative experiences in our childhood or adulthood or possibly suffering traumatic incidents. These can make us vulnerable to hurts, habits or hang-ups. Recovery is a powerful process for overcoming these vulnerabilities. It allows God to heal memories and the resulting damaged emotions.

God is at the centre of all that happens and, as He knows us intimately, the Recovery team is totally reliant on what He is wanting to do with each person. The team listen and follow His wishes.

An atmosphere is created where confidentiality, a non-judgemental attitude and unconditional love are important. It’s an environment where respect for each other and their views is essential, making a safe place where people feel able to share and where leaders listen, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We let God be God, creating a place for His loving, healing purposes.

An adapted, Christian-based Twelve Steps programme is used and, in addition, 1:1 Deeper Prayer.

To summarise the benefits from Recovery:

Healing and freedom from past hurts, habits and traumas.

Thank You, Bron and Spro.

In June this year it will be 10 years since the first Renew Wellbeing centre was opened, there are now 300 centres of which ours at Mansfield Baptist Church is one. We remain grateful to Derek and Brenda for bringing Renew Wellbeing here over 5 years ago and for their continuing support.

We meet every Thursday between 10.00 am and 1.30 pm, with short breaks over Christmas, Easter and during August. We continue to be a ‘Quiet shared space where it is OK to not be OK’. Our guests enjoy the many activities available such as jigsaws, puzzle books, watercolour painting and colouring books as well as the opportunity to converse. Coffee and tea are served.

The number attending varies but is usually in the twenties with many coming regularly. Over the year we have welcomed new attendees although we mourn the loss of some friends who are no longer with us, missing their valued contribution.

A Prayer Space is available, and a short prayer session based on the Lord’s Prayer held before lunch is well attended. We are delighted that some who come to Renew now attend our Sunday services with more than one of them being baptised.

The Renew team meet for prayer before each session, this is based on a Psalm with a reflection provided by Ruth Rice (the founder of Renew Wellbeing). We have now reached Psalm 70!

We are indebted to Sue Kemp and her team for providing the high-quality meals at the end of the morning.

We give thanks that Renew Wellbeing remains such an important part of the week for so many.

Should you wish to join our team of volunteers you will be most welcome.

The Renew Team.

Feeding with the Word Men's Breakfast

18

As we celebrate another year of “Feeding with the Word” Men’s Breakfast, we can reflect on a time of real fellowship, we have shared together some of life’s difficulties that face us as individuals and some of the joyous moments too. Life is full of challenges, but the spirit of Jesus always shines through as He walks with us.

So often as we share the word, there is something in scripture that lift us both as individuals and as a group together, the bible is so relevant to our lives today and holds so many answers to life’s challenges. Testimonies have been such an important part of our meetings this year, where we hear the wonderous changes that have happened to people through the power of Jesus entering their lives when facing hardship or simply through the need to change ones ways for the better.

We have several members from other churches attending too, which adds to the depth of our sharing together as brothers and unites us as the Christian church. We would really welcome more members from our own church too, when together, we grow stronger both spiritually and in fellowship.

Again this year we have averaged around 17 people attending and I pray that this next year we can grow in number, I would love to see more brothers attending.

We give special thanks to Sue K and Craig R for their hard work in the kitchen, as always the food is excellently prepared and greatly enjoyed by the group.

As a reminder to all, we meet on the 3rd Saturday of the month at 9.00am in the MBC main hall and all are welcome, leaflets are available with all the information and dates, in the main MBC entrance, details are also available on the MBC website, so bring a friend and discover the relevance of Jesus Christ in your lives today

We also have a WhatsApp group, “Brothers in Belief” where we share ministry and scripture supporting each other in times of hardship and celebrating the good news of answered prayer.

Finding Strength in God – “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” – Isaiah 40:31

So please do come and join us, all are welcome

Tim

Romanian Group

Our Romanian community gathers once a month for worship, teaching, and encouragement.

Sometimes we have around 20 adults, along with 4 young adults (aged 18–25) and 6 children (aged 3– 16). Attendance can vary depending on work commitments, but we give thanks for everyone who is able to join us.

Among the group, we have a strong core of adults aged 25 to 60 who are regularly involved and growing together in faith.

We’re also grateful for the support of Christian friends from Doncaster, who faithfully come to help and encourage.

Each gathering includes a time of worship and a sermon, and we also welcome contributions such as songs, poems, or testimonies from members of the group.

We thank God for His work in this vibrant, multi-generational community, and for the opportunity to worship together in unity.

Thank you Blessings

Corina

Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly… as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit.”

- Colossians 3:16
