Pastor's Report
Looking Back. Thank you!
First thank you all so much for being on this journey with us, it’s a great Joy and honor to serve the Lord alongside you. Thank you for all you do with prayer, serving, and giving, to enable MBC to be a blessing to you in your walk with Jesus, and a blessing to others outside of our church as the Gospel of Hope flows from us into our community and to our partner missions projects.
We are especially thankful to those who serve faithfully on the leadership team, and many areas of the church including pastoral care, leading bible studies, practical jobs, cooking, outreach, flowers, renew café, recovery work, worship team, tech, youth and children, young adults, and the romanian community, all of whom are an important part of making the church an awesome family to be part of.
There is so much to be thankful for, as we look over the reports from the ministries around the church, God is faithful and He is the one who adds and grows His church.
Growing Family relationships
We have been blessed this year with all the services and ministries continuing to grow and the church has become more wonderfully diverse in age, background, and nationality. The AllAge service particularly continues to grow and to be a catalyst for the deepening of relationships which is so important with so many new people in our Church family, moving us deeper towards greater unity and love of one another. The All-Age Sunday has been a sign of an expanding and welcoming church with a majority of people from our family eating together, and also extending an open welcome to visitors who come and join us at the meal who need care and support, so we continue to be a church that genuinely welcomes anyone from our community who is in need. Many thanks to all those involved.
One of the signs of growth in our church is the Baptism of new Believers, it has been amazing to see that those who have been baptised this year have been from every ministry and are very mixed in age and background. The current Alpha course has also gathered people who have connected with our church through our outreach ministry Renew well-being, and the family's work, it's so encouraging to see God at work in the lives of so many people so we give thanks to God for all He is doing.
The Challenges
But we are also a church in transition. Some of our established members have gone to be with the Lord or have moved on, and others have had ill health and cannot serve as they would like at present. We also have a lot of newer people join us and attend services, who are settling in well, but either due to work or family situations or not maybe knowing how to get involved are still finding their way. This is fantastic and has brought new vibrance and life to the church but it does present challenges for us to be able to run the church well, building a strong foundation, particularly with some of the practical things like hospitality, tech, and the children and young people’s ministries to name a few of the areas.
The Importance of Commitment
Our commitment to play our part in church family life, its witness, and mission is an essential part of being a follower of Jesus. It helps us grow deeper in our relationships with others and to grow spiritually ourselves and will be a blessing to others.
At MBC we encourage membership as a sign of that commitment. We have continued bringing people into our church membership over the last year. We do this recognising that we are in a covenantal (committed) relationship as the family of God in a local church . Firstly committed in love to Christ and one another, to care for and encourage one another. Secondly, a commitment to pray, serve, and give in time and financially support the work of the church and the expansion of the Gospel through it, into our mission, both locally and in other places.
The word of God describes us as being the body of Christ,(1 Corinthians 12 v 12-27) where each person plays their part. This is so important for us to be committed together and use the gifts the Lord has given to each one of us for the body to be built up and added to, and to join with Jesus Christ in the work of the Great Commission.
Prayer continues to be the heartbeat of the church and we aspire to develop further in this ministry. We have continued to pray daily from 8-9am, 7 days a week 365 days a year drawing aside into the presence of God in worship and intercession, bringing the needs of the church, its people, its mission and the community to the Lord. We know many of you are also praying at different times during the week.
During this year we have encouraged you to pick up a discipline of fasting for special seasons of prayer and the leadership team meets together monthly to pray. Thank you to the many of you who pray for others and their needs, from the prayer chain and the WhatsApp groups we know there have been many incredible answers to prayer and people have been encouraged and experienced God’s presence and power through your prayers.
Evangelism and outreach, and Witness
We are all witnesses to the work of Christ in our lifestyle and words to those we know and meet in the course of our lives. But as a church, we are committed to encouraging those with a specific call and gifting to widen this. We have continued to engage people in the Town centre, we are very blessed to have some gifted Evangelists among us who have the time to be in the town centre Wednesdays and Friday mornings.
We have increasingly found openness from people to receive bible cards and tracts, and have conversations and prayers with a few people making commitments to Jesus on the Street. We have also found that the students and young people we meet are often very open to talking about Spiritual matters and collect the bible cards, even giving them to friends, teachers and pinning them up in their bedrooms. There are reports across the world of God awakening this generation, and there are signs that this is also the case here.
We continue to work with our partner churches reaching out to Oaktree estate which continues to grow, with people coming to know Jesus. Jeanette and the team have continued developing a Biglife group mixed with craft called Rooted. There is the making of a tiny church plant beginning. There have been discussions with the local council about opening a community hub on the estate where a community of Hope (church) could be based.
Looking forward: An encouragement to press on.
"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to the power that is at work within us." - Ephesians 3:20
Last year I had the privilege of going to India on a learning experience with Biglife Europe to learn from a disciple-making movement that has exceeded 500,000 new Christians from mainly Muslim and Hindu backgrounds. This was spread over several countries and into around 45,000 small networked churches.
It was an extremely humbling and transformative experience not just to see firsthand the work of God in another culture, but to be alongside Christians who experience life and faith in a very different way, and who suffer for the Gospel, yet have a great joy that overflows from them. They find that the cost of following Jesus does not disappoint but rather grows a faith expectation that God will do immeasurably more in alignment with the promises of His word. The Lord showed me the poverty of my own walk with Jesus, but at the same time encouraged me to seek Him for Immeasurably more in fasting and prayer, in bold witness, and in faith that He will.
We don’t need to go to another Culture to experience God’s immeasurably more as God’s word is for all of his people in every place and in every time. As we look back and thank God for all he has done over this last year, we have had a taste of His immeasurably more. But let us continue to look up to Him who can do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to the power that is at work within us, May our prayers for others, our families, and our service of God in the work of the Gospel be bold and soaked in the faith in Him who will continue to do immeasurably more through you.
Much love to you all Mark and Jane
Treasurer's Report 04
You will see a detailed presentation of our accounts at our AGM, after they have been checked by our auditor Patrick Henderson.
This year has seen us end the year with a ‘general fund’ deficit of £6,862. Our general fund has decreased in the last 12 months from £40,468 to £33,606. We must continually strive to break even to ensure the long-term stability of our Church finances. However, when we consider that there were some exceptional building maintenance costs (c.£3,500), £1,400 to pay for necessary mediation costs and £1,800 related to our Minister’s Studies you can see that without these costs we would have been very close to meeting that break even target.
It was encouraging to see our giving increase by 6%. Which is a reflection of the increase in numbers attending our Church Services and other activities within the Church.
Aside from our general fund we have been able to invest £7,500 from our Property Development Fund this year in replacing more windows around our Church. Thereby completing the project to replace all our Church windows in improving our building. We have also had some stability with our two properties. With our existing tenants settled and paying their rent on time.
You all continue to amaze us with your kind donations to causes locally, nationally and worldwide. Donations overseas for our Uganda Fund totalled £1,800. Leprosy Mission £1,700, BMS Birthday Fund £220. Bags Of Hope supporting people in our local community in need raised £1,150, and for the Homeless in our local area £540 was donated.
Thank you to everyone who gives so generously, or has helped in the raising of these funds.
From our Mansfield Baptist Church general fund we also contributed £12,600 last year towards mission work locally, across the country and worldwide supporting ALL who are in need, wherever they may be. This represents over 10% of our total income.
Financially, this coming year will be challenging to say the least, with most notably the ending of our 5 year Fixed Term energy deal in July 2024 and the commencement of a new 2 year deal for our electric. This new contract will result in the doubling of our energy costs. Our electricity costs last year were £7,800. This year those costs are likely to rise to £14,000. This will have a notable impact on our 2024/25 accounts. Nevertheless, we continue to place our trust in the Lord who never lets us down. We must continue to be good stewards of the funds we are blessed with and pray for His guidance as we ‘shine the light of Christ’ in our community and across the world.
Thank you for your continued support and prayers.
Neil Meadows
Church 05-6 Administrator
Reflecting on this past year, I am reminded of the profound wisdom in Jeremiah 17:7-8, which speaks of the blessings that come from trusting in the Lord: "But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit."
As your church administrator, I have seen firsthand how trusting in the Lord has brought strength and guidance to my work. Much like a tree planted by the water, this trust has allowed me to grow, ensuring that my efforts are fruitful and grounded in faith.
Spending time with God each morning has been a cornerstone of this trust. These moments of prayer and reflection have not only centered my heart but also equipped me with the clarity and peace needed to tackle the day's tasks.
Reflecting on the jobs completed this year, I trust the welcome pack has been a valuable resource for newcomers to our church. The website is still a work in progress, but I am confident it will be worth the wait despite some setbacks. Please bear with us as we complete this important project.
Neil and I have been diligently working on updating ChurchSuite, our church database, to better reflect our current status. Once completed, we plan to utilise it more effectively to streamline administrative tasks and improve our operations.
I am now the main admin for the Facebook group, as Sam has gone on maternity leave. I want to express my gratitude to Sam for all she did in managing the group. It’s lovely to see people engaging in the group. If you haven't already joined, I encourage you to do so.
There are morning reflections, including Monday Mindset and Testimonial Tuesdays. I am always eager to receive testimonials, whether in written or video form, or if you prefer to share live during an interview. These testimonials provide a wonderful opportunity to express gratitude to God, encourage one another, and support those who may be silently exploring their spiritual journey. Your ideas for improvement are also invaluable and warmly welcomed!
A special thank you to Clive for managing the phones in my absence; your help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks also to Neil for his ongoing support as my line manager. Although he will no longer be our treasurer, I am blessed he has agreed to continue as my line manager!
For those who don’t know, my working hours are Tuesday to Friday, 9 am to 1 pm, mainly in the church office.
However, on Thursdays, I work from home to prepare the weekly newsletter.
Finally, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their support. I feel truly blessed to serve you all and to witness the many ways God is at work in our church community.
This is separate from my role as your administrator.
I've felt a calling to establish a women's ministry at our church for many years
After much prayer and contemplation, I'm excited to partner with Jeanette to lead this ministry together. We are eager to create a welcoming space where women from all walks of life can gather. Rooted in Christ, it's a place for sharing, supporting, and growing together, reflecting the love of Christ in our interactions. We envision it as a place where you can bring your friends, regardless of their beliefs, to experience genuine connection and support infused with Christ's love. Your prayers and support are invaluable as we prepare for the launch in September and more details will be shared in the newsletter, but we anticipate it to be a significant event that will shape the future of this ministry.
God Bless Cathy

We have been blessed with rapid growth within all the children, families and youth areas this year. It has been wonderful to welcome so many new families and youth. The strong foundations which had already been established in our groups and good systems have meant we have been able to concentrate on RELATIONSHIPS in 2023/24. Most of all encouraging the children and youth in their personal relationship with God but also building relationships between each other and the church family. Within all our groups we spend time helping everyone connect and deepen their relationship with God.
Our All Age Service and lunch once a month has given us the opportunity to spent time getting to know new families and make new friends within the church family. I would encourage anyone who hasn’t been to these to come along and invest some time in getting to know others.
In continuing to build these relationships, I have met with many mums for coffee and I am always blessed to learn of the great things God is doing in their lives. If you haven’t had coffee with me yet and you’d like to, please get in touch!
The introduction of worship time in Seedlings and Rise last year is now an amazing expression of praise to God. We delight in seeing the children singing praises to God with such joy and freedom.
On Sunday mornings, having larger numbers in all the groups has made for lively discussions. A central part of our sessions is making space for reading the word of God and encouraging the children and youth to connect with God personally. There are moments when we see them come alive with excitement as they experience the almighty love and power of God.
The younger children have been sharing Jesus at school and in the playground. We have seen the youth grapple with big themes and explore their own faith both on Sundays and at MBC Youth on Tuesday evenings.
Our weekly youth group has been running for almost a year now, and we have seen the relationships between the youths and with the helpers flourish. The youth have even started to invite others to attend MBC youth night, and we have steadily grown to a group of 18 youth, most of whom attend regularly.
As well as the time spent delving into the scripture each week, we have all engaged in lots of crazy, messy activities and games. In particular, standing in custard, a recycling fashion show, an alternative Easter egg hunt, and even feeding each other with extremely long spoons.
All of these activities have links to the Bible, we promise!
First Steps continues to be busy each week. We take every opportunity to share Gods love with the children and parents/carers, which can include spending time listening to them, praying with them and keeping in touch during the week. When joining this group, each family receives a welcome envelope which includes ‘My very first Bible stories’ book. This term we have been making crafts which link to each story. We have once again been blessed with funds from a council grant which has meant we have continued to only
charge £1.

GET SET
----- End of picture text -----
It has been lovely to have some of our families join us on Sunday mornings and at our Get Set Together events which have included termly Saturday morning fun for all the family, including a lively, interactive service and appearances from our singing puppets.
Jenny and I have continued building relationships with a group of parents/ /carers who previously attended toddler group by meeting up for coffee once a term.
All of the groups and events would not have been possible without the help of loads of people from the church. I would like to say a massive thank you to all the people who serve so faithfully in the children, families and youth ministry. Thank you for making every event and group run so smoothly. I am equally grateful to all the new helpers who have joined this year, and to those who have stepped down after many faithful years of service. With the numbers growing I am always looking for new helpers so please come and have a chat if you can help.
And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to breaking bread and the prayers. Acts 2v 42 (ESV)
Please continue to keep all our children, youth, families and the team in your prayers.

Worship
LORD, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvellous things,…………… Isaiah 25 v 1 NIV
What stands out or speaks to you in the picture the most, the people, the Cross, or the sky, or do you see the whole picture?
We all see things differently and God loves each one of us equally and for who we are. He knows each one of us and loves us all.
How amazing is that, He hears each one of our cries, or prayers and our songs of Praise and Worship. when we come to him through his son the Lord Jesus Christ I love being involved in worship and I am so thankful for all the prayers and support we have in such a wonderful church, and I am so thankful too for the wonderful people who I am blessed to be working with in the team.
The team I am talking about is both worship and tech, we are one team together in worship and praise. Over the past year the team have grown stronger and stronger together facing different challenges, but having the same goal to worship and praise Jesus ourselves, and lead the church to praise Jesus and enter into worship.
In my last report I talked about developing the team to have more of an all age dynamic to it and again I am thankful for all the young people who are now playing with us in worship and bringing their talents to Jesus.. and the team and myself love welcoming all the new members that have joined us over the past few months.
VISION FOR THE COMING YEAR
The All age worship to be developing further in a new and exciting way giving further opportunities.
The Tech team- this area is vital and we really do need more people to help here as the people who are working in this area are really doing a lot and need more support, so they also can have time to be just in the presence of God for themselves. Training for this work can be arranged for anyone who is interested, so please contact myself Mark or those in the tech area. Please pray more people will come along and help and support this work. Please do not think age is a barrier, all are welcome.
We also want to thank Sam and Lee, Colin for all the time they gave, and the hard work they have done over the past few years, and we also ask for prayer for Sam and Lee as they begin a new journey as parents and for Colin and Jenny as they settle into a new church and wait for Jenny’s operation.
Before lockdown we tried to launch a 6 weekly event for the worship team and tech team to get together to pray and worship called ‘Refresh and blessing ‘.- lockdown came and that ended that vision. Since then there has been a series of events that again has stopped this vision, so I ask you to pray for the team that we have the opportunity this Autumn /Winter for this to be able to go ahead.
It will be called ‘Unity’- it will be for all ages and will have the same aims- Prayer, worship, teaching, sitting in the presence of God and being blessed - and also other times of just fun, food and team building activities.
If anyone feels they want to be involved with this work .. please do not hesitate and have a chat with me.
Thanks Jane

Study Groups
My report this year is a rather mixed one.
First, I need to let everyone know that I shall no longer be responsible for heading up or choosing the materials for Advent & Lent studies or life groups. My continued work as a Deacon takes up more time now and I feel I should concentrate on that work and the time to do it well all year round.
I have found over this last year that attendance at Advent and Lent study sessions has been static at best and poor at least. Despite the growth in number of our Church attendance, this has not transferred into sharing together at Advent, Lent or Life groups for some reason.
The Advent Circle Discussions held in December 2023 were very simple and were focused on small table fellowship.
We focused on THE WAITING, TRUSTING GOD’S TIMING, THE POWER OF PEACE AND EMMANUEL, GOD WITH US.
This year, rather than looking at that journey or ourselves, we
used The Daughters of Eve’ guide to make the studies a Church Family exercise.
The sessions focused on the different ages of women and the stages in life: Discovery, Choosing, Responsibility, Stocktaking, Wisdom, From the cradle to the Grave.
The out-of-date ideas in the material itself provided lots of conversation and we learned a lot about our different lives.
We reminded ourselves of the importance of the women in Jesus’ life and ministry and especially those who were with Him near the cross, at the tomb and on that glorious resurrection day!
We were reminded of the characteristics of a woman of God from Proverbs 31. The challenges for us were to Discover God, to Choose to Obey Him, to be a Responsible woman of God, to Evaluate our spiritual growth, to Grow in wisdom and to keep hold of our fatih to the end of this life. A very different Lent course, admittedly – but it showed us just how little we know about the women in our Church family at MBC.
There are no new life groups formed to inform you of – apart from those beginning at the Oak Tree Ministry. Please pray Gods blessing on these small groups as they seek God.

Pastoral
Pastoral Care is an important part of the life of our Church.
We are all called to care for one another but in a large, diverse, and growing fellowship, need can sometimes go unnoticed.
The Pastoral Care Team meet at least four times a year to discuss how we can ensure that such need is met.
We are aware that not all members of our fellowship can attend our services and meetings, so we endeavour to ensure that regular contact is made. This is partly enacted by the distribution of bags at various times of the year (Easter, Harvest and Advent). The bags contain items such as a small gift, a card from children at our Church and Bible reflections. They are much appreciated but more importantly allow us to meet and ‘catch –up ‘with members of our fellowship.
Mark, as our Pastor attends our meetings and is very much involved with pastoral care but cannot answer all requests for care alone. Pastoral care is very much part of the whole church.
We are grateful to all who have distributed the bags at different times of the year and have got to know those they have visited.
We would welcome any new volunteers who feel drawn to this important aspect of Church life.
We give thanks for the recovery of Dorcas who has led the team.
Blessings, the Pastoral Care Team.

Updates from Jeanette (Our CYM Student) Rooted
After a short break, we have started meeting again. We meet each Friday during term time only, from 2:30 to 4:30 pm at Oaktree Leisure Centre in Mansfield. The first hour of the session is dedicated to different arts and crafts each week, focusing on building relationships and trust among the attendees. This aspect of our group has gone from strength to strength, with increasing numbers and growing connections between the attendees and the church.
For the second half of our time together, we engage in a short Bible study based on the Big Life Discipleship format. This has been very effective in guiding people into a relationship with Jesus and helping them understand the importance of obedience and how it impacts their lives. It’s encouraging to see attendees taking ownership of their group, blossoming in their self-worth and value, and treating each other with kindness, which serves as a wonderful testament to their growth.
We also receive Holy Communion together once per month, and everyone is encouraged to participate.
Women’s Home Group
We meet on Wednesday evenings during term time only. We are a small group of ladies who gather each week, and we have welcomed a few new members recently.
We are currently doing a Bible study based on The Chosen series, which has been very good and has created lots of discussions around what we have learned. We also engage in various creative prayer events and encourage each other to lead the sessions each week. It's wonderful to see how each of us loves and supports one another, journeying with the Lord and each other, building solid foundations that equip us to be disciples of Jesus.
This group is also a great support for each other in our everyday lives.

Bags of Hope &
Blessing Bags
The bags of hope, thankfully, have been needed less this year but have mainly been given to young mums without immediate family who are struggling. Thanks to those who contribute to this on a regular basis.
The blessing bags have continued to bless people who turn up at church needing a little help. Like the gentleman who we prayed for, who had his daughter for contact and little food. He was able to take her to the fair, making the contact weekend a special one.
We take 24 bags to Street Church weekly with a few things in to bless them, with the pasta sachets and pot noodles being popular for a quick meal. We thank the members who put food in the cupboard on a regular basis, which is a huge help, providing meat or fish at least once a month in the bags.
This is open at the moment for someone to take over for at least four months while I recover from my hip operation.
Love from Elaine xx
Thanking God for His provision and endless love so we can share that love freely with others.

BMS Church Partners 15
Claire Bedford. Claire has been our missionary partner since 2015. Most of Claire’s time recently has been taken up with management responsibilities.
Claire is grateful for a new BMS mission worker colleague. Lucia who arrived mid-January and has settled in well. Lucia is working with the administration team on all things finance and projects. It’s a task she is well trained for. Claire is now able to hand over some of the management work to Lucia, allowing Claire to focus more on training the pharmacy staff, and the management tasks that are still hers to do.
Chad is currently going through the process of electing a new president, with the result expected to be announced towards the end of June. Election periods in Chad tend to be times of unrest, which may develop into rioting. Claire asks for prayer during this time, prayer for safety and wellbeing for hospital staff, missionaries and nationals, especially for those who travel to and from work early morning or late at night, and for safety for patients and staff attending the hospital premises.
There is the possibility of a visit from Claire during October this year. Please pray for God’s guidance and wisdom for the BMS admin team as they work out Claire’s itinerary and make difficult decisions regarding her visits.
Benjamin and Gillian Francis. Ben and Gill Francis work in India. They are greatly privileged that with the Biglife Disciple Making Movement they have been able to shine the light of Jesus to thousands of people across South Asia. They have shown people the hope and joy that is found only in Jesus and many have been brought to faith in Christ.
After the Christmas outreaches 100s of new groups have started as people have shown great interest in knowing and learning about Christ. Many people have received Christ and want to learn more about Him. A Hindu priest heard the Gospel for the first time, responded in faith and was gifted a Bible. Bibles were distributed and the Gospel was shared right in the midst of the Hindu festival celebrations. The response was great and many people showed an interest to know more about the Lord Jesus.
Ben asks prayer for the training of another 10,000 leaders during 2024, to reach another 500,000 souls by the end of 2024, and to withstand persecution with faith, courage and a commitment to move forward.
There is the possibility of a visit from Benjamin, late June or early July. As with Claire above, please pray with the BMS admin team as they work on Ben’s itinerary.
Philip and Rose Lotimong. Philip Lotimong is Senior Pastor of Heart of Love Ministries, Mbale, Uganda. He heads a team who visit unreached villages with the Gospel, seeing many miracles as they plant churches in these needy areas. Philip worked alongside me (David Ardron) for many years as I presented the Bible based Equip Leadership teaching in village churches in various parts of Uganda, taking over the work from me in February 2020. He is now taking the teaching further, building on the work we did together and taking it to remote areas. Philip is also receiving invitations to speak on Leadership at conferences and teach staff at Christian organisations.
Please pray for Philip and the Leadership Team at Heart of Love Ministries, that they may remain true to God’s calling, and for wisdom as they consider invitations. Pray for safety as they travel around.
Philip and Rose may be visiting the UK in May next year. Please pray for God’s guidance and provision as we plan. David Ardron
Recovery 16
The Recovery programme is for anyone and everyone. It is powerful for healing, gaining greater freedom and developing a closer relationship with God.
God is at the centre of all that happens and, as He knows us intimately, the Recovery team is totally reliant on what He is wanting to do with each person. An atmosphere is created where confidentiality, a non-judgemental attitude and unconditional love are important. It’s an environment where respect for each other and their views is essential, making a safe place where people feel able to share and where leaders listen, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We let God be God, creating a place for His loving, healing purposes.
An adapted, Christian-based Twelve Steps programme is used and, in addition, 1:1 Deeper Prayer. Positive benefits from Recovery are:
Healing and freedom from past hurts, habits and traumas.
-
Improving mental health by reducing feelings of anxiety, inferiority and by developing feelings of worthiness.
-
Learning how to forgive, bringing positive changes in relationships, and coming to some realisation where we may have caused hurts in others.
-
Developing Godly ways of dealing with situations – responses rather than reactions.
-
Developing more self-understanding and awareness of others’ needs.
-
Gaining a greater understanding of the depth of God’s love and care for us, receiving His love and developing a closer, deeper relationship with Him.
-
Helping us to be more open to God and His ways, relying on Him more, letting Him be more and more present in our lives.

It is now five years since Renew Wellbeing was introduced to our Church by Derek and Brenda Rumbol. We continue to meet on Thursday mornings from 10,00am until 1.30 pm.
Our Renew Space remains a place where it is ‘OK to be not OK’. The number of attendees varies from week to week but is usually over twenty and sometimes over thirty with many who attend regularly. Recently we have been pleased to welcome more guests from Woodleigh Nursing Home.
A variety of activities are available, including, board games, jigsaw puzzles, puzzle books and colouring books. Sharon Baker has joined us as a helper and added Origami as a new craft. Those who come to Renew enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, appreciating both quiet times and conversation. A prayer space is available for peaceful reflection.
Tea and coffee are available throughout the morning with a meal at midday. Before the meal a time of prayer is held in the lounge based on the Lord’s Prayer, this is voluntary but well attended and appreciated.
The helpers meet for prayer prior to the start of Renew, using the first five verses of Psalm 103. There is also consideration of a Psalm each week with thoughts provided by Ruth Rice, the founder of Renew. This year we have restarted from Psalm 1 in January.
We give thanks that so many find Renew a highlight of their week. Quiet shared We are grateful to Sue Kemp and her team who regularly provide an excellent meal and remain indebted to Derek and Brenda for spaces their vision in bringing Renew to Mansfield Baptist Church. where it's OK not to be OK The Renew Team
Feeding with the Word Men's Breakfast
18
What a truly spirit-filled year we have had—a special time of men sharing fellowship, scripture, testimonies, and breakfast.
Numbers have been fairly consistent, with around 17 people attending our monthly meetings on average.
This year we have shared so much together. It has been remarkable to see the young and old, the mature and spiritually growing, being led in the word of
Jesus, debating scripture, and asking questions confidently amongst each other, knowing that we are all learning along our journey in Christ.
Our Lent course was a first, where we met weekly instead of monthly in the lead-up to this huge time of celebration in our Christian calendar. This was very successful. Thank you to Neil for his preparation and delivery of the scriptures and questions for thought and debate.
Richard and Ted have often stepped forward to share their thoughts and topics for discussion. Craig R has been working hard in the kitchen, serving everyone with drinks, preparing, cooking, and cleaning up afterwards along with the support of Sue. Bacon, eggs, sausages, cereals, teas, coffees, juices, and even the occasional pastries.
We are blessed with many visitors attending from other churches, which further enriches our discussions and gives us the benefit of other views to share together. Hopefully, we will continue to grow over the next year. We would really welcome more men, especially from within our own church.
For those who can’t attend, we would welcome your prayers, especially around men growing in their love of Jesus and fellowship together.
For further details, pick up a leaflet in the church entrance area, contact Tim Cooper, or see the dates in the weekly newsletter. We meet at 9:00 AM on the 3rd Saturday of each month in the main hall. Everyone is welcome, bring a friend. We also have a WhatsApp group, “Brothers in Belief,” where we share ministry and scripture together along with support and even humour.
Please do come and grow together as brothers sharing in the love of Jesus. Amen.

Young Adults Fellowship 19
We usually meet once a month. Not much to report this year as we only had one meeting in November with six new adults participating.
On 31st May, we will all be together again, which is good news. Usually, when everyone comes, there are about 15 or 16 people.
If you are aged 18 -40, we would love you to join us. Please speak to Corina for more details
Romanian Group
We didn't meet in the winter, but we usually meet every Saturday at 7:00 PM on Zoom for Bible study with Iurie.
We started meeting again in April. In May and June, we will all meet on the 16th for Father's Day at 4:00 PM. We have three new families, which is good. Usually, we have worship time, Bible study, games, and a cake and a cup of tea.
Thank you 😊 Blessings Corina
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
