Responsibilities and As the charity trustees, you are responsible for Ihe preparation of the
basis of report accounts in accordance with the Charities Act 2011 {°the Acr).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carrted out
under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carying out my examination, I
have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charty Commission
under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

## Minister’s Report
My first task as I write my summary of the past twelve months is to say thank you to all who have worked so hard to maintain our witness to Jesus Christ our Saviour within and without of our building situated at the bottom corner of the carpark. Without your commitment to worship each Sunday and to the roles many have undertaken my role as pastor would have been harder. Within these pages are very comprehensive reports of the various services and activities we all participated in during the past year, so I’m not going to pre-empt what is written but mention some other significant but less noticeable activities….
You will not be surprised to know that I often receive emails and phone calls from people who are not part of our congregation but have come across our threshold to coffee mornings and jigsaw swaps; I am told time and again that we make the best coffee in town, (thanks Carol!) and we give everyone a warm welcome and remembering their names. A sure sign of acceptance. So thank you for your part in making people welcome.
You will have noticed too that during our intercessions, each Sunday we pray for people we don’t know at all. Our coffee morning customers often add a prayer card to our Prayer Tree for members of their families and friends. This is another way we can serve our community and bring the needs of those who probably don’t know God into his presence. I sometimes surprise some of our coffee morning friends with flowers from our communion table when I’ve learnt about their situations. Flowers are always gratefully received. I’ve been thinking about taking at least one bunch a week to our neighbours during the coming year. We did this about 10 years ago, perhaps it is time to do it again.
You may have also noticed that our small choir has not featured at festival times, as in the past. There are now less than a handful of us including Vivien, each of us has less time to rehearse. But, who knows, we may just meet, find a suitable piece of music so that we can sing at one of the festivals this year.
As usual I have spent most of my time reading in preparation of our weekly reflections. And though I didn’t get many books at Christmas 2022 I did buy a number during the year that were resources for the series on The Epistles of John; Minor Prophets and the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Galatians. I’ve said many times, I love reading and whilst I often turn to the lectionary in Baptist Patterns and Prayers for festivals and a good half of the year, reading for a particular series brings me much pleasure. That being said, I did put fingers to the keyboard to rewrite some of the Lent Study on Spirituality (that I first penned in 2018) for Lent 2023 and researched and wrote our Advent Study 2023 on the more interesting books of the Apocrypha.
I am always delighted when my friends lead our worship, in particular Revd. Ernie Whalley. He has always been an inspiration and still is. He alongside my Spiritual Director, Sr Pat, and my home church minister, Richard Lewis keep me on an even keel. I exchange emails with Ernie from time to time and chat with Richard on the phone. Sr Pat has moved from The Briery in Ilkley to a convent for older less mobile nuns in Lytham in Lancashire. I still visit her every six weeks. Since her move there I now have to give account for my days off. That task is harder to keep, because stuff encroaches on some Fridays. I do, do my best to keep an afternoon free of all church work so as to give my cat some attention. Barney has been sitting on my knee in recent days with his back to me, displaying his displeasure of being neglected. My Texas friend Paul played for us too allowing Vivien to sit in the congregation, though where to sit caused her consternation, as she doesn’t always get the opportunity to do so. Another friend, Martin Butterworth was our guest speaker at our Harvest. I visited Martin and his wife Katrina in Nepal in 2004 when they were BMS missionaries there.
Although Churches together in Pudsey has had a very lean year, some of the ministers from the churches in our town have come together to pray. From those meetings there is hope that CTiP will be active again during 2024.
Again, thanks to you all for your prayers and generous support over the past year. May our God continue to bless each of us as we all live to love as he does and look to him to guard, guide, protect
and encourage us to be the people he would have us be. This is my prayer for you all. Every blessing.
