A Centre for Excellence
Building on our unique experience and expertise and e￿$tIng WOTk, we are crealing a Centre for

understanding of what work$ to end the perpetratts)n of domeslic abuse.
During the year we have W0￿ed with fvnders. partners and stakeholders to secure seed funding for
the Centre for Excellen￿ whKh will enable us to develop our ideas further and start lo deliver against
our slr*egic airns. This fijnding has also enabled us to secure further funding f¢X next year that will
enable us to lurther develop our Centre for Excelienee.

Helplines
The Respect Phoneline recerved 8.350 ￿lIS over the year and Men's Advtr￿ Line T￿lVed
36,734. 24125 was a challenging year for the Respect Phoneline and Mens Advice line. Late
fvnding decishJns meant a larg9-￿Ie redundancy proce55 that was hatted when further funds
were secured.

acros5 both helplines.
Make A Change
24f25." Make a Change is an earty resp)nse to perpetr*ors. Over the year 169 perpelrat¢ys
received the intervention. 316 survivors were supported, 273 chiklren Klenlrfed as experiencing
domestic abuse and 4 were supported through our Integrated Support SerV￿e. Ak>ngside our
intervention we developed and delivered a health intervention in partnership with STADA. We buif(
on learning and hlenttying gaps and $0 secured further lunding to allow us to develop the model.
Looking Ahead.. In 25126 we will be wO￿l￿g to enhance acce55ibilty for neurodivergent people.
Orive
24125.. Drive, an ln1eNent￿n for Hyh Risk. High Harm perpetrators continued over the year and
worked hard to secure future funding that will see a huge rdl out over 25126 and beyond. In 24125
6630 service users were alltraled lo DrNe and 7398 surwvors supported. The Drive National
Systems Change programme continued to identsfy systemic gaps and bring together the insights
of survivors. Serv￿ users. practitioners, specralist organisats"ons. researchers and policy makers
to build solutions.
Looking Ahead.. Next year Drive will be launching thrte eo desoned specialist responses to
domestic abuse led by a consorb'um of delivery provide￿ to address systemic gaps Ir* respons8S

Safe & To3ether
Safe and T￿ether 1$ an intervention to help child welfare professionals impr¢)ve their awareness
and understanding of derfnestic abuse. 24r25 was again a challenging year due lo year-on-year
funding and late funding deC￿lOn$ meaning wide scale redundancy processe5 were instigated and
then halted when funding was awarded. None the ￿S we continued to deliver in 11 London
boroughs, offered 810 consuttalions to professionals and trained 1121 professiona
25126.. Sees us continue lo ddNer and will be introducing Safe and Together in a new area.

RYPS
Respect Young People's Serwee equips professDnals to respond to hamful behavKJurs by young
people in both the famity and intimate relationships. In 24r25 RYPP delivered training to 663
wolessionals and published 'Unsafe and Unheard, that ￿CbjdeS a sel of r￿MMendationS for
policy makers. practitioner5 and commissroners.
Lookin9 Ahead". 25r26 is an exciting year with new fijrtding lo take a partnership approach lo
rolling Out the Dating Detox pre•Jramme.

quality assuran￿ Cert￿￿atr"On against the Respect standard. In 24r25 we had 40 accredrted
members. We have 24 indNidual members and 81 Organisat￿nal. We delwered 44 training
courses, 114 webinars, 7 lunch and leam$ and in lolal reached 1657 professK)nals.

We have also worked in partnership to develop our staff team. Addf(ional members of Respect's staff
team undertook the H.O.P.E Leadership prcgiamme for Black and minoritised aspirin9 leaders in the
d¢)meslic abuse perpetrator sector arKI we have followed through on ensuring that these staff
members abje to aC￿S Wershy deveb)p￿￿nI OP[￿rtun￿leS wthin Respecl.
This year we set up a second prolected space group. for staff who identify as trans, non*inary or
questioning their gender idenb"ty. and in 25126 this group will woth with ELT and our EDI group to
develop our thinking on sex and gender in the IKJht of the sUp￿me Court Ruling.
In 24125 we signed up to the disabilty confident scheme and in 25r26 disabilrty is a key focus of our
EDI work.

This year we have W0￿ed positNety with sedor partners on a range of issues focused on both our
Influence for Systemic Change and Centre for Excellen￿ slralegic pillars. For example, we mel

broadly we ￿ntinUed to work with VAWG sector c¢4kagues by attending and participating in regular
meetings from which flowed campaigns and letters lo govemmenl lo raise specrfie issues. In 2023 we
attended the Labour paty conference where we spc*e on a fringe panel led by the End Vitslence
Against Women {EVAW) co81￿"0n, of wh¢h Respect is a member. Respect ￿ also ¢losety linked in
with the leadership of our sector partners and parts"cipale in reguLqr strategic conversations and actions
lo address systemic issues and call for change.

The Executive Leadership Team {ELT) wjenlrfies and discusses risks and ways to mitigate them al our
monthly ELT meeting. considering both strategic and operational risks. These risks are graded lo
assess likelihood and short arbd long-tem) impact_ Our risk appetite is consKleretl for each risk and
the level of oversight needed and plans for mrtNJation are agieed and implemented. ELT de¢i¢Jes
which risks need lo be escalated to Board on a quartety basis, and in rare ¢a$es risks are e$caialed
between meetings. Trustees oversee prc4Jress against risk mittg*ion via our subgroups and review
strategic risks al quarterty board meetings. We carry out a review of the whole risk register annualty.
We are develeping a cumure of risk id8ntrfThtion and management across the W￿19 organisation, to
ensure that everyone sees it as part of their role.
We have robust internal controls to ensure that we have management. perfom)ance and financial
ovetsKJht and make use of independent Ihird-party experts to support us where needed.
Risk
While we are currentty in the forturt*e pO$rtif￿ that we a￿ grcmkng as an organisation. our funding is
not secure or long temi. This brings signrfunt ChaI￿nge$. July 2024 saw a new govemmenl and we
knew this ¢oukl have a huge impact on our funding and future. We had several projects th* had been
funded year on year by the p￿vIouS govemmenl and were funded until March 2025. As we
approached the end of the financial year. uncertainty over the followin9 years funding meanl we had to
pul a large proportM of our staff at risk of redundaney. Late in 24r25 government funding was not only
confirrned. rt was signrfthnlty higher than the previous year. Management has therefo￿ been
focussed on the roll out of our work. including hKJh leve15 of recrurtment and as eveT, with the Safety
and qualty of our interventions Central in our wth.

We are lakirtg steps to mitigate the risks around the uncertain and challenging funding environment by
seeking to diversify our fvnding sources and have employed our first fundraising manager. We are
focussed on fvndraising for our $lr*egic aims and core costs and ensuring $uffi¢ienl fvnds for core
support are include<l in our financial modelling and conbnuing to press funders, commissioners and
govemment for mutti-year. sustainable funds. We are also working to ensure that we have the righl
support in place for our $taff teams to en￿ them to out thesr roks lo the best of their abilities.
Vvhilst we I￿e these r6ks. we are also keenty aware of the positNe positRJn we are in. Respect is
growing in a landscape Ihat is seeing funding cuts and loss of services. We stand in solidarrty with our
colleagues across the VAWG sector and continue to press for long term aTrJ Sustainab￿ funding for
us, our members, our partners and the whole seetor. so we can further our VIsK￿ of a wodd free from
domestic abuse.

Most of Respect's income was categorised as restricted. meaning that the use of the funds was for a
specrfic purpose.
Unrestricted ￿COrne is for generd use towards Respetl's Charitable otiects. The total Unrestr￿ted
fund includes centrally held reserves to support cash fiow and ￿ntingencIeS aftsing from
commissioned service income for Training. Respect Young People's SeNice training, meMbe￿hlp.
Aceredilalion and some other sources of income including donations.
Total income inueased by 8% from 202&24 whereas expenditure increased by 4.VA. Unrestricted
income was dt)wn by 34% and spend was du•vn by 27%. This was partly from a reduth'on in training
and found*ion$' income and in particular for training. a temporary reduction in income surrounding the
change of Government in 2024 whilst organisalions were considering their financial future. A
subsequent increase of interest in this a￿a o¢¢urred bater ￿ the year which earried over to 2025-26.
The reStr￿ted income increased by 20% and Spend increased by 14%. The increase in restrKted
income included the new DAPO pilot amounting to £218.427. funded by the Home Office via
SaleLives.
Respect runs the Respect Phone Line and Men's Advice Line seThices funded by a restricted grant
from the Horne Off￿e. In premous years. h￿her than anlKipated activrty levels meant that full cost
recovery was not achieved and unrestnded reseNes were used to subsidise the seNice. To address
this. the Home Office provided an uplrft lo Respect of £86,700 in 2024-25. Thi5 was recorded wf(hin
restri¢t8d reserves, and subsequently transferned to unrestrthd reserves to offset the earlier 5Lbbsidy.

unrestricted reserves

The Board of TTUStee5 review5 the chanws reserve5 requ1￿Ment annualty and rnonilors the forecast
reserves shown in the financial reports throughout the year. This review encompasses the nature of
income and expendrture streams. the need lo match iicome with commitments. liquhdty and the
nature of reserves.
For the year eftded 31 March 2025. the Board of Trustees agreed that the minimum appropriate level
of unreslr¢ted reserves to operate in the current financial climate should be equivalent to 3 months of
operating costs, this equated to £228,749. The actual unrestiicted reseNes at the end of the year
were £410,094, exceeding the minimum level set by the Board of Trustees by £181.345. The Charity 1$
updating its rese￿e$ pOI￿Y lo consider whether to revise the reserve$ levels during the n8Xt planning
period with a vw to conlinued wgnificant gro￿.
c. Funds and investment
In total, frjnds held as at 31 March 2025 amounted to £420,860 as shch¥n in Anafysis of Charitable
Funds. There were no fund inveslmenls. The amunts held in the bank were used to support liquidty.

The trustees, (who are also directors of Respe¢i Project {kncMn as Respect1} are respgnsible for
preparing the trustees, report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and
United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generalty Accepled Accounting Practice).
Company law requires the Trustees to prepare finanaal statements for each financial year. Under
company law the Trustees must not approve the financial stslements unless they are satisfied that
they give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the Charitab￿ company and of the incoming
resources and appI￿atiOn of resources. including the Income and expenditure. of the charitable
company for that period.

Make a Change
National Lottery Community Fund this fund pays for the Make a Change Project including
Respect's rok in overseeing the model delrvery in four srtes. It includes payment lo Women's Aid
England as a strategic partner and direct payments to fNe local ¢Jelivery partners in four project
sites {Trafford, Durham. Sundertand and Merseysidel. NCLF pays 409h of operating costs in
Trafford and offer a set contribution fee lo the other three.
Northumbria PCC and Newcastle Council - fund the Make a Change project in Newcastle. This
includes Respect's fee for overseeing the model delNery and 1 Oooh operating costs paid to local
delivery partners Harbour and Chan9ing Lives. This is furthd to June 2025.
Scottish Government - Helplines
Inspifing S¢oUand provide funding for both Men's Advice Line and Respect Phoneline to meet the
needs of Scottish service users who need adv￿e, infomiation and s￿nposting support.
