## INTRODUCTION:

The annual report has been created by Grace Community Church to share information about the church’s activities during the year 2020. Furthermore, this is a legal demand, whereby every registered charity must submit their reports and accounts to the Charity Commission. This report will be separated into two sections.

The first part of this report will explain how the church is structured and financed. This portion will entail information on how the church is able to reach its aims through several activities which the church gets involved in.

The second section of this report will shed light on the type of events the church has organised and been involved in, throughout the year 2020. This portion of the report will present in detail how the church has positively impacted both its members and the community, by adding value.

During 2020 Grace Community Church had to make regular adaptations to respond to the restrictions of the Covid-19 pandemic, which will be explained further within the necessary sections of the report. However, the mission of the church – to proclaim Christ – has and will always remain the same.

## AIM/PURPOSE:

The main purpose of this charity is to represent Christ by becoming like Him, both within the body and to the wider community.

Grace Community Church aims to do this by:

- Propagating the gospel of salvation to advance God’s kingdom, by reaching out to the unsaved.

- Ministering to the needs of the community, giving both social and spiritual supports to people.

- Fellowshipping with other believers, to promote and spread the love of Christ.

- Providing sound biblical theology to aid and encourage believers to grow upright.

## ACTIVITIES

Grace Community Church (GCC) carries out regular Sunday worship services, which start from 10:30am-12:30pm, followed by socialising over light refreshments at the end of service. However, during the periods of lockdown, this changed slightly as our services moved from being in person, to meeting online via Zoom meetings. When lockdown restrictions were eased the church was able to join again, and provided pre-packaged refreshments, to avoid the spread of cross-contamination.

During the week GCC has weekly bible study every Tuesday, online via Zoom. This allows for members to fellowship together, whilst reading the Word of God, uplifting, encouraging, and motivating one another to grow spiritually. Every Friday members of GCC also join online for prayer meeting, from 7:30pm-9:00pm.

In addition, Grace Community Church has various ministries, such as children’s group, GCC worship team, prayer, and counselling. Every member has a big role to play within the church, carrying out the specific tasks needed in their ministry. Everyone functions together as one body, to help the church grow in love and unity, whilst carrying out the will of Christ.

Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, the youth group in GCC were not able to hold their annual youth retreat, during both their summer and Christmas break. However, they were able to have weekly meetings online every Wednesdays, to spend time together in fellowship and learn practical skills that can be applied to their daily lives, such as finances, saving, social media presence, and marketing et cetera. The youth were also gifted takeaway, which was delivered to their homes, as a kind gesture for complying to the government restrictions for COVID-19 by staying home, during a difficult season of not being able to meet with friends and family.

GCC also finds fellowshipping with one another and extremely important role within the church. Therefore, the church organises a regular church love fest, several times within the year. This again was done differently due to the pandemic, and the food was delivered out to members.

## Achievements/Performance

Throughout the year 2020, Grace Community Church undertook many valuable activities, which positively impacted both the church and the community. This was majorly done through sowing into ministries online, as we could not physically go out to participant in activities.

Such activities included:

- Being a part of Churches Together – Hutton and Shenfield – which creates a space for churches of different denominations within Hutton and Shenfield, to join closely together to make the gospel of Christ known in both our community and nation.

- Corporate prayer session held both on Friday’s during prayer meeting ( _as mentioned in the activities section_ ), and on Sundays, right at the beginning of the main service.

- Supporting and helping with missionary work in Uganda, which aids the lives of several individuals who live in deprived areas and need food/clothing et cetera.

- Offering drumming, keyboard and singing lessons for interested members through the GCC Worship Team, to learn and improve their skills.

- Creating different prayer groups, which allows members to meet up together during the week either in person or via video/phone call and speak about their challenges/successes and pray for each other and the community.

- Many members within GCC have signed up with compassion, to be monthly sponsors for children in need of financial support, worldwide.

## Pastoral Care

The pastoral care within a Christian church is always essential, as it is an active demonstration of concern for the wellbeing and development of the members.

Grace Community Church (GCC) has various ordained ministers, who have been trained to be effective in their role. The ministers in the church also have regular meetings, to ensure they are always focused on the main aims of the church, and to see if there is any improvement needed.

GCC provides free counselling to all members of the church, which is always available when needed. Furthermore, the church also ensures there is a followup process for all new believers as well as newcomers. This is ideal to ensure people are walking in the right path and are constantly growing whilst attending the church.

Grace Community Church also has a WhatsApp group chat, which complies with the GDPR regulations. This allows members to regularly be updated with important information, and with biblical materials that will help them to grow more as believers. In this community members are also encouraged to share their thoughts, questions, or encouragement.

In addition, Grace Community Church provides a secure box for the members, whereby they can place any questions or prayer requests within. This is kept completely confidential and gives people the chance to freely express themselves and receive help, without feeling judged or condemned. Following from this, the church also holds a Q&A Sunday, quite regularly, which again gives people the chance to freely ask questions, without being judged – this is a great way the members learn and develop.

## Outreach/Evangelism

Over the year Grace Community Church (GCC) carried out many evangelical outreaches online, to spread the love of Christ and reach out to those in need within the community.

Grace Community Church is a part of ‘Churches Together’, an organisation which seeks to reveal Christ to the community through all churches communing and fellowshipping with each other. Churches Together annually hold many services for the community, such as the ‘unity service’ which aims to spread the love and kindness of God throughout the community and the various churches within.

In addition, the church focused more on building an online presence, which would help reach out to others, evangelize, and spread the word of God from social media. The youth group in GCC also has an Instagram page, whereby they upload prayers, scriptures and invite their friends and other youth to join in their weekly zoom meetings.
