Registered address

Edgar’s Gift 1141337 31A Salisbury Avenue Croft Leicestershire LE9 3EJ

What we do

Edgar’s Gift is a charity set up in honour of Benjamin Edkins following his death in 2010.

We supply gifts and special days out to young adults between the ages of 18 and 30 in the East Midlands and up to 40 years of age for Sarcoma patients being treated at Leicester Royal Infirmary. We offer holidays at our caravan in Mablethorpe to adults with families living or having treatment for cancer in the East Midlands (there is no age limit on this currently).

Caravan and Gifts

We had 20 families visiting the caravan last year. The ground fees, insurance, gas and electric charges all rose during the season which increased costs. We also had a major repair required following one family’s holiday which cost over £500.00.

We have just taken on a partnership with The Willow Trust (Bob Wilsons charity) with the hope that they will send further people to our holiday home and have agreed for them to pay a cost towards those holidays, so if that takes off it will help towards the costs (of course we do have £5000 grant from Malcolm Whales Foundation each year so that helps).

We completed a total of 13 Gifts for the year, most of these requested from Leicester hospitals.

So, between Gifts and the holiday home we have supported a total of 33 families during one of the most challenging times in their lives.

The events and promotional costs

Rochdale pies and footballs shirts Food for the Golf Day

We bought new banners to replace the previous damaged banners. As everyone raised far more than the costs of the parachutes jumps, we paid the cost of each persons jump (folks from Glen Gorse Golf Club)

Paying half of the takings from 1 of the quiz nights to Nuneaton Griff Football Club who helped arrange the event.

We have also paid the deposit of £2000.00 for next year’s Edgar’s Gift 15year anniversary dinner at Grace Road.

Net of Receipts

The good news that following some great fundraising events and productive partnerships we have made a net gain of just under £21,300.
