The company is registered as a charitable company limited by guarantee and was incorporatetj on 16 March
2011. The goveming document is the updated Articles of Asso¢*lKin adopted on 26 July 2019.
b. Method of appointment or decli(￿ of trustees
The management of the charitable company is the responsibility of the trustees who are elected and co-opted
under the temis of the Articles of Assouation.
Trustees are appointed al the discretion of Sir StelK)s Haji-loannou. The existing InJ51ee5 are responsible for the
induction of any new trustee, which involves awarene55 of a trustee's responsibilrtie5, the goveming document.

the ways it gives back to society..

1. Helping the neediest people in Greece ¥nd Cypws wlth "Food from the heart". This program. started
in 2013, offers eaeh and every working day - without dis¢rimination - snacks to people who register at our 12
distribution points which were open during the financial year an¢J ask for them. Since the start we have handed
out more than 31 million snacks for I￿e with a ￿tall value of c 31 million euro and the current number of visits
per month al our distribution ontres bs about 145.000.
2. Funding scholarships for young people to attend %h¢x>ls and unNersrties where the founder was himself
educated. (Doukas High School in Athens. LSE and Cty Univefsty in London). This activity continues unaffected
by the pandemi¢.
3. Given the ¢o¥id-19 ¢risis v4hi¢h broke out ha￿Y through our financial year end September 2020 we had to
djust our overall giving budget downwards in cffder to fft within the new nomial however in the FY2022 most
of our programs are up and running again.
3.1 Promotlng lasting peace on the island of Cyprus. Each year betsveen 2007 and 2019 we offe￿1
several bi-communal awards to teams comprising one Turkish Cypriot and one Greek Cypriot. who are
cooperating on the island. We decided to place the project on hohd for 2020 and 2021 and instead diverted
some of the funds to the front line carers and hospital staff on the island. The program is up and wnning
irt 2022 and 200.000 euro in cash was granted to 20 Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot entrepreneurs ort
the island who are doing joint business.
3.2 Donatlng mO￿Y to oth•r charilies with a diverse range of causes - manly in the four countries
named above.
3.3 Supporting disabled entrepreneuts. In the UK. an award was operated be￿een 2007 and 2019 in
conjun¢bon with Leonard Cheshi￿. a charity that focuses on helping disability. Prizes were awar¢Jed to
those disabled people Ytho had stsrted their own business. Given the logistical problems caused by Covid
19 the awards for the FY2020 and FY2021 did not operate and Ihe fvnds were dNerted as thank you gifts
Nvith vouchers to the 4.300 Leonard Cheshire fronlline ca￿[$. The program 1$ up and running again in
2022 and G8P60.000 was won by 3 disa1￿ed enlrepreneur5.

of easyGroup Ltd. All of the loans were repaid before 30 September 2022. The cumulattve total ol the donation$

and its affiliated Foundation in Monaco) since 2010 amounts to £￿.5 million lfifty-$ix and a half millton pounds

Going concern
The Foundation has $Lrfr￿lent resources so that it can discharge its liabilities for at least a year from the dale
the financial statements ale approved and ensure adequate resources to continue in operational existence for
the foreseeable future. For this reason. the Trustees continue to adopt the going concern basi5 in preparin9
the financial statements. Further details regarding the adoption of the going concem bas15 can be found in the
accounting policies.
b. R•¥i•w of the year
The trustees present the financial Statements for the year ended 30 September 2022, which show incoming
resources for the year of £10.499.225 and resources expended on Charitab￿ activiltes of £2,922.422. being
charitable donation5 (£1,392,856) and charity costs 1£1.529.566). After raising lunds and charitsble
expenditure, the overall movement in ftjnd balance$ for the year was an i￿reaSe of £7,586.783.
¢. Reserv•$ policy
As at 30 September 2022 unrestricted reserves amounted to £6.952,808. The trustees have adopted a policy lo
maintain unrestricted funds, whth are the free reserNes of the charitable company. al a level which equates to
approximately 12 month5 unrestricted expenditure and donations by each year end.
On 26 July 2019. the charitable company a¢Jopted revised articles of association stipulating that certain
properties should be retsined in pefpelurty by the foundabon_ A¢¢ordhngly. the net book value of these propertie$
is represented in endowment fund5.

1.1 Basis ol preparation of financi•l ststem•nts
The financial statements have been p￿pared in a¢¢ordan¢e *Mth A¢¢ounling and Reporting by
Charrties.. Statement of Recommended Pracb"ce applicable lo ¢harities p￿ParIng their accounts in
accoidan¢e with the Financial Reporting Stsndard apPI￿ab]e in the UK and Republic of Ireland {FRS
1021- (Chanties SORP IFRS 1021), the Financial Repoth"ng Stsndard applicabk in the UK and
Republ￿ of Ireland {FRS 1021 and the Companies Act 2006.
Stelios Philanthropic Foundation meets the definit￿ of a publi¢ benefft entity ut)der FRS 102. Assets
and liabilib.es are initially recognised al historical cost or transa¢bon value unless otheMi$e siatetj in
the relevant a￿ounting policy.
1.2 Company status
The eh3ritable company is a company limiéed by guarantee and registe￿d in England and Wales. Its
registered offKe and principal place of business is 34 Thurloe Square. London, SW7 2SR. In the
event of the company being V￿Und up. the liabilty in respect of the guarantee is limited to £1 per
fflember of the company.
1.3 Going concem
The Foundation has sufficient resources $0 that it cat) discharge its liabilit￿S for al least a year from
the date the financial statements are approved and ensure adequate resources to continue in
opefational existence foc the foreseeable fvture. For this reason. the Trustees continue to adopt the
going concern basis in preparsng the financial statements.
1.4 Fund accounting
General fvnds are unrestn¢ted fvnds are availawe for use at the discretion of the trustees in
ftJrtheran¢e of the general obie¢lives of the charrtable ￿MpanY and Vth￿h have not been designaled
for other purposes.
Endowment fund represents assets held by the charitable company that are intended for use in
perpetuity.
1.5 Incom?

of three months or less from the date of acquisition or opening of the depostt or similar a¢count.
1.12 Creditors
Liabilities are recogni5ed when there is an obligation at the balance Sheet dale as a result of a past
event. it is probable that a transfer of economic benefrt will be required in settkment. and the amount
of the settlement can be estimated reliably. Liabilib"es are recognised at the amount that the charitable
company an1￿1paleS it will pay to sethe the debt or the amount it has received as advanced payments
forthe goods or ser¥ices it must pro¥￿e. Provisions a￿ measured at the best estimate of the amounts
required to settle the obligatKin. Where the effect of the b.me value of money is material. the provision
is based on the present value of those amounts. dixounled at the pre-tax dis¢ounl rale that retlects

Stelios Philanthropic Foundation tsa registered charity and as such it's income and gain$ falling within
Section5 466 to 493 of the Corporats"on Tax Act 2010 Of Section 256 of the Taxation of Chargeable
Gains Act 1992 are exempt from corporab.on tax to the extertl that they are applied to its Charitsble
obJe¢live$.
1.15 Judgemgnts and estimalion uncorlalnty
E$timale$ andjudgements are continually evaluated and are based on historical experience and other
factors, including expectation$ of future events that are believed to be reasonable under the
circumstances. There were no signifunt judgements and estimates in the year.
