INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT

TO THE TRUSTEES OF ELAYS NETWORK

YEAR ENDED 31[st] MARCH 2025

I report to the trustees on my examination of the financial statements of Elays Network (‘the charity’) for the year ended 31st March 2025.

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the trustees of the company (and also its directors for the purposes of company law) you are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006(‘the 2006 Act’).

Having satisfied myself that the accounts of the company are not required to be audited under Part 16 of the 2006 Act and are eligible for Independent Examination, I report in respect of my examination of the charity’s accounts as carried out under section 145 of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the 2011 Act’). In carrying out my examination I have followed the Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5) (b) of the 2011 Act.

Independent Examiner’s Statement

Since the charity’s gross income exceeded £250,000 your examiner must be a member of a body listed in section 145 of the 2011 Act. I confirm that I am qualified to undertake the examination because I am a member of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA), which is one of the listed bodies. have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe;

  1. Accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 386 of the 2006 Act; or

  2. The financial statements do not accord with those records; or 3. The financial statements do not comply with the accounting requirements of section 396 of the 2006 Act other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination; or

  3. The financial statements have not been prepared in accordance with the methods and principles of the statement of Recommended Practice for accounting and reporting by charities applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS102).

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drowned in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

ELAYS NETWORK

Notes to the Accounts

For the year ended 31 March 2025

1. Accounting Policies

The principal accounting policies are summarised below. The accounting policies have been applied consistently throughout the year.

1.1 Basis of Accounting

The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance with the applicable Accounting Standards and the Statement of Recommended Practice “Accounting and Reporting by Charities” published in March 2005 and the Companies Act 1985.

The company has taken advantage of the exemption in Financial Reporting Standard No. 1 from the requirement to produce a cash flow statement on the grounds that it is small company.

1.2 Incoming Resources

Income from activities, voluntary income and donations are included in incoming resources when they are receivable, except when the donors specify that they must be used in future accounting periods or donors’ conditions have not been fulfilled, then the income is deferred. The income from fundraising ventures is shown gross, with the associated costs included in fundraising costs.

1.3 Resources Expended

Resources expended are included in the Statement of Financial Activities on accruals basis, inclusive of any VAT that cannot be recovered.

14

Expenditure that is directly attributable to specific activities has been included in these cost categories. Where costs are attributable to more than one activity, they have been apportioned across the cost categories on a basis consistent with the use of those resources.

1.4 Going Concern Basis

The financial statements have been prepared on the going concern basis, as in the opinion of the director and trustees, there are no issues arising which would suggest any other basis as being more appropriate.

1.5 Depreciation

Depreciation is provided using the following rates and bases to reduce by annual instalments the cost, less estimated residual value, of tangible assets over the estimated useful lives:

Furniture, Fixtures, Fittings and Equipment - 20% on a reduced line basis.
