Tr trustees have pleasure in presenting the tharitable company's report and financial 8tstements for the year 8nded 31 March 2023. 1.OBJECTIVES AND ACTivrriES The object of ￿ charity 18: To promote and protect the mental heallh of the public, in particular those living in Warwick, Leamington Spa, Kenilworth and Stratford Upon Avon and the surrounding area through the provision of counselling and support for people in need. The truste8s aim to pursue Ihese objects through counselling, offered mainly by volunteers who are either qualified to Diploma Level and aly)ve or who are in the final years of their Universitylcollege course. Nèw Hope also has a number of qualified ￿UnSel10rs, many of whom undertook their pl8￿ment with the charity arKI have stayed on as volunteers. No set fees ar8 charged for individual ¢ounselling apart from an assessment fee of £10 {fr88 to Ihose on benefits) and clients are asked to give a donation when they commence therapy. New Hope also undertake8 couple counselling and ￿rrentlY there is a Set fee of £35 per session athough this will be reviewed going fornard. Counselling seN1￿$ are open to anyone from the local communty who feel they may benefit from counselling. There are no restrictions on the groLSnds of any of the protected characteristics ie age, disability, geTrJer reassvJnment, marriag8 arKI cvrfil partner¥hips, pregnan¢y and matemity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation. After a robust telephone assessment, the client is placed on a waiting list and matched to a surtable counsellor when one is availabl&. No preference is given to or discrimination made against clients. We wuest that Clients make a donalion appropriate to what they are able to afft)rd and no one is refused counselling based on an inability to make a financial contribution. Publlc Beneflt The trustees are committed to improving the organisation's practi(￿ and ensuring that it delivers public benefit. as it fulfils its objectives through the provision of ￿)unselling services. The trustees have had regard to the guidance from the Chartty Commission on reporting on Public Benefit. The majority of counselling sessions are fac8 to face, although there are clients prefer online or telephone counselling as this provides flexibilty with regard to work or caring responsibiltlies. The benefit of counsellors now being more comfortable with remote ¢ounselling is that the organisation can be flexible to a Client's needs. Our counselling Servi￿ continues to be in great demand and currently the waiting list 8tand8 at 16 week8. Counselling is provided for many drfferent issues induding.. depression, anxiety and stress, addictions, trauma and abuse, b8reavement, relattonship problems and seff-esteem. There ha8 been a significant increase in dients pref￿ntIng with compl8X trauma who have been unable to access NHS therapy as they do not meet the criteria which has increased due to the pressure on local mentsl health service8. Referrals came from a number of 80urces with the majorty of dients coming via NHS which stood at 62% acro88 the year wrth 72% in quarter 3. 12% of client8 had accessed New Hope services previously and 15% were recommended by frTr8nds, relatives or colk8agu88 who had personally Used the service which was consistent with previous year8. Face to face rA)unselling took place from three location8: The main Offi￿ in Warwck at 70 Saltisford. 'Lifeways' in Stratford Upon Avon Kenilworth Methodist Church All coun8ellors who volunteer at New Hope are qualtfied to Level 4 Diploma Level and above or are completing a St￿lent placement as part of their UniverstylColW Course. Qualified ounsellors are accredrted with one of the counselling bodies that regulate ¢ounselling and psychotherapy. All counsellors, qUalffj￿d and trainee. are required to be a member of a professional body. The counselling team offer their counselling servi￿$ voluntarily. During the year 2022r23 we are pleased to report That we had a dediced team of 17 qualffied and 26 trainee counsellors. During the year New Hope was able to reintroduce fao to face CPD sessions for volunteers, these were greatly appreciated by attendees. At the first sessron in November 2022 time was spent understanding the structure of New Hope and plans for the future. At the session in March 2023 a Grref Recovery workshop was faeilitated by Clare Spiers, Grief Recovery Specialist. At these days volunteers parkncularly value the opportunty to Tre￿01 wrth one another and the opportunity for pe8r support. As part of the team. we also have two admin volunteers who provide invaluable support to the stsff to ensure thè effective delivery of New Hopo services. The Manager of New Hope Counselling sits on the b)ard of the VCSE Mentsl Health Allian￿ which is a forum providing a Vol￿ to influence mentsl heatth SeNi￿S across Cov8niry and Warwckshire and engagement with the statutory sector. During year the team at New Hope Counselling have attended events to promote the charity in recognits'on of the need to raise New Hope's profile across the communities of South Warwickshire. Events attended have included a heatth and v￿lIbeing day at the Leamington Gurdwara,. Coming Together to Support event for charities and profe88ionals supporting parents and families after a child dies,. Mental Health Transformation Programme Showcase event,. SheThvood Psychotherapy Training Institute open day; Wa￿iCkSh1fe College Group wellbeing event arKI various netrwothng 8vents hosted by Wa￿ickshire CAVA. During the year the Trustees agreed to invest in a digital CRM plaffom, called Tacklrt, which will improve the efficiency of client assessments and record keeping. Not only will this be of benefrt to clients and counsellors but will also ensure more accurate statistscs for reporting pU￿oSe$ and also reduce the amount of paperwork and files which will improve the charity's carbon footprint. Throughout the year we received generous regular donations from Castle Hill Baptist Church and Saltisford Church for which we are most grateful. Other generous donations were received from others who support New Hope Counselling's work including Tentpeg Global, lan G￿aVe8 from $Fonsorship for running the London Marathon and James Slough who urKJertook 50km Challenge. The volunteer team at New Hope Counselling re￿IVed a Special Recognrtion for the Health & Wellbeing Award at the annual CAVA Volunteer Awards for their enomous Gommitm8nt to the charity and the dients that SUPPOrt T¥￿ of our volunteer counsellors attended the awards evening held in Stratford-upon-Avon in October 2022 and reixived the award on behaff of New Hope.

The charity has the following main sources of funds.. Voluntary donations made by clients receiving (x)un8ellirvJ Grants Church and other donation8 by supporters of New Hope Counselling Fundraising The main expenditure of the charity is for the provision of day-to4ay management and administration of counsellors and d￿nts and of premises to Carry out o)unselling geNice8. During the year ending 31 st March 2023, inrnme totalled £81.374 (21122.. £64,349). Expenditure for the year was £78,393 (21122: £61,778). So overall there was a totsl net increas8 in un￿51￿cted and restricted funds of £2,981 (21r22'. £2,571) during the financial year. Detsils of any related party transactions are as 8et out In note 11 to the accounts. 3.2 Golng Concorn: Having reviewed the level of furKls available together wth the future projected cash-flow, the trustees have reasonable expectation that the d)anty has adequat8 resources to continue its activities for the foreseeable future. Accordingly, they continue to adopt the going ¢on¢em basi8 in Preparing the financial statements. As the year progressed clients and coun8ellor8 ￿ntinued to retum to fa￿ to face counselling. Although the amount of online therapy decreased it is stlll available as an optK)n and is often convenient lor those who are disabled, housebound, ￿rers, th08e living in rural arna8, those in full-time èmployment. 3.3 Re•erve8 Pollcy The charrty seeks to hold ￿selVeS equal to three to six monlhs of expenditure of bet￿￿en £19,000 and £38,000. The free reserves as at 31 st March 2023 ￿re £23,991 whith equat8 to just over 3 months resenies. Whilst overall reserves remain ￿althy, during the year New Hope Counselling has re￿Ived a greater proportion of restrided fvnding. Tr trustees ￿cOgnise the ongoing need to encourage more donations and also to seek other sources of support and funding to ensure the Continuing development of the servi￿. FUTURE DEVELOPMEKr Speciflc future plans includo: Implementation of the 2 and 5 Year Business Plan. • Joint strategy session for trustees and staff to be held in Odober 2023. • Continue to ¢￿ate new opportunrties and development for staff. STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND IAANAGEMENT 5.1 Constftutlon of the Charlty and Status New Hope Christian Counselling is an In￿rpOrated chanty lunited by guarant88, having no share caprtal and is govemed by rts Artides of ASS0aat￿n Incorporated on 2110112011 as amended by special resolution dated 24103r2011 and registered at Companies House on 01104r2011. The company number is 07501815. The tharity was registered with the Charity Commission on 4th Aprll 2011 with the number 1141104. The ¢harty is exempt from corporation tsx urKler part 10 of the Income tax Act 2007. The charity also use8 the name New Hope Coun8elling. 5.2 Tru3te•8 (DlroCtor•): The trustees (who are also directors for the purpose of Company Law), held office durirvJ the year and to the date of this ￿port are listed on page 6, Referen￿ and Administrative Information. Trustees are appointed and e18¢ted in accordan￿ with the Artides of Association through a vote of members al the AGM and after an appropriate amendment to the Articles of Association are now able to Stand for more than tsvo, three year temis. All potential truste8s a￿ only nominated to stand for election following a ski118 analysis and suitable references. 6.3 Trust•e moollng• and pro￿du￿$ All new tru8tee$ are giv8n infonnats'on relating to th8 responsibilities of trustees arKI orientation to the work of the Charrty. All trustees are encouraged to the guidance on public benefit issued by the Charities Commission and this is taken into a¢courrt when making deciS￿n$ about the charity's activrtles and in the day to day running of the counselling serrfice. The trustees nomially schedule four meetings each year and are joined for most of the meetings by the manager. In addrtion, trustees meet for an extra-ordinary meeting to discuss strategy and staffing. In February 2023 the trustees atterKled a Governan￿ Refresher Workshop facilitated by Rob Allison of Factor Networking. The tTUStees have a clear procedure that if there is a potential confiict of interest on any matter, the trustee with the potential conflict of interest is asked to leave the room and take no part in thè debate or decision. 5.4 Organisation of the Charity The operations of the charity are conducted in accordance with th8 policies and strategy approved by the trustees. There are no standing sub<ommittees and expert advi￿ is sought as required. The trustees are responsibl8 for the govemance of the charity and delegate the day-to-day operation to the manager. The charrty currently has a part-time paid staff team consisting of manager, an assistant manager, Warwick coordinator & administrator, Kenilworth coordinator, Stratford coordinator and a fundraiser, as well as volunteer counsellors and adrnin workers. 5.6 Risk Management The twstees review risk and seek to ensure all major risks to which the charity mrght be exposed are identified, in particular those relating to the oFerations and finances of the charity. The trustees are satisfied that the￿ are systems in place to mitigate the exposure to major risks. 6.
