The Trustees present their annual report together with Ihe company's financial statements for the year
1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024. The annual report serves the purposes of both a trustee report and a
directors, report under company law. The Trustees confimi that the Annual report and financial
statements of the chariiable company comply with the current ststutory requirements, the requirements
ofthe charitable companls governing document and the provisions of the Statement of Recommended
Practice ISORPI applicable lo charities P￿parIng their accounts in accordance with the Financial
Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS1021 (effective 1 January 20191.
Since the company qualifies as small under section 382 ofthe CompaniesAct 2006. the Strategic report

Individuals over the age of 18 who are interested in furthering the work ol the charity and are not paid
or volunteer workers (CUrren￿Y or in the past) can a￿lY lo be a Trustee l Director (Trustee) of the
company.
The process starts wrth the r￿elp¢ of Iheir expression of interest. Our Ghalr contacts the candidate lo
give detslls about the role and explain the next steps. A panel ma¢Je up ol fv40 Trustees and the
Company Secretsry oversees an interview process. If the panel feels the candidate should be
¥ecommended lo the Board, references are sought. When references are T￿lVed. the pan81 makès a
proposal lo Ihe Board. The Board votes lo accept the new Trustee" il musl b8 unanimous.
Trusteès recruited following this process are automatleally given company membership. The Board
sh811818cl from Trts number a Chair and Treasurer and may gle¢t ono of its number lo Vi¢8 Chair.
Nèw Iruslèes are briefed on their legal obligations under charity aThJ company law. the content of the
Memorandum and Articles ol Asswalion. the committee and decision-making processes, thè
business plan, and the charty's recenl financial pgrformance. They also meet key employees and
other Iruslees. Trustees are encouraged lo attend appropriate external training events, which will
facilitale their underslanding of Ihèlr role.

Cltlzens Advlce Solihull 8oTough is a member of Citizens Advice, the operating name of tho Nallonal
Association of Citizens Advicg Bureaux. Citizens Advice provides a frarnework for standards of advice
and casework management and monilors progress against these standards. The Board of D1￿ClorS
independently determines operating pOI￿leS lo fulfil its charitable obSeclives and compty wth the
notional membership requirements.
CAS8 is governed by its Trustge Board which is ￿spons￿l le for setting the strategic direction of the
organisalion and the policy ol the charity. The Trustees carry the ultimate responsibility for the
conduct of CASB and for ensuring Ihal Ihe charity satisfies its legal and contractual obligations.
Trustees meet monthly and delegate the ¢Jay-tW operation of the organisation to the Chief
Execulive Officer ICEOI. The Trustee Board is independent from management. A register ol members,
interests is maintained at the registered office.
The Senior Management Team meets to review progress against targets and the Charity's financial
position and discuss issues referred to them by the trustee board.

providing the advice people need for the problems they face and are undertaken specrfically lo provlde

Access lo Work. Funded through The European S¢xlal Fund. We engage with residents and
promote the benefits of the project lo them. OrTrce signed up, they can access training,
interview practice, job search an(t IAG services.
Money AdviGel Debt Advlce Service. Funded through The Money and Pension Service. Thi8
project helps people with basic budgeling, Ihrou9h lo Court Represenlalion. We help
constrncl financial slalements. negotiale third partK?s, and apply lo trusts.
• Advice on Prescriplion. Funded through the Birmingham and Solihull Inlegraled Care Board.
Providing patients with information. advice, and guidance 8110 of the GP practices in North
Solihull. This project supports people wilh complex advice needs who would not normally
access our services.
Social Prescribing Service for Solhull Heallhcare Partnership ISHPI and Rural Solihull PCN.
W8 deliver this service through 11 GP practices in soulh Solihull. This project links and
supports patients lo or9anisalions Ihal can help them be less socially isolated. live
independently. reduce visits lo the GP. and show increased confidence. We were funded for
providing social prescribing service lo GPS H•althcare. however Ihgy took Ihe service
inhouse.
Energy Advice and Carbon Monoxide Aovice. Funded through National Citizens Advice. We
give people in the borough ac￿$$ to Specialised switching, savings, and understsnding
tariffs, efficiency measures, and life savings lips.
Help lo Claim is a nalional project run ILKally by Birmingham CAB. We refer clienls lo the
service who need lo claim universal credil right through lo the first payment. We provide a
face-to-face service for people who need help with their claims.
Macmillan. This is a nation81 project run locally by Bimiingham CAB. The project gives advlce
and information lo anyone affecled by cancer in Solihull.

Factors Affecting the A¢hiev•ment of Objectlvos
Maintsining sufficient funding lo continue deliveriTh3 Ihe service remains a continual challenge. We are
making sure that we invest in fundraising and continue to diversify our approach lo ensure we are
deliverlng the most cosl-effeclwe servlce we can. This is not about simpty cuttlng costs.. il is about
delivering a service that genuinely meets dienls. needs to make us as cost effective as possible.
The complexity of thè issue5 that clients are facing. and the additional challenges that clients are
experiencing places addition81 demands on the service. The support ne￿OrkS that were previously in
pl8¢e for people are changing. and we are asked to offer support that falls outside the ¢onfine$ of direct
advice. Wher8 people are vulnerable. it is essential that we offer support in a porson•cenlred way and
whilst necessary this can b& resource intensive.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
The availability of fundin9 in the ¢harily sector remains difficult during a per￿d of austerity. The charity
is IocLTrsed on providing added value to ils funders from a base of sound monetary management and
ensuring Ihal cAJr services remain rfrlevanl lo the stralegic objectives of slak8holdors al the local and
natlonal levels.
The charity is working hard to deliver a cosl*ffective service that genuinety meets the needs of our

Reserves Policy
Cllizens Advice Solihull Borough is required lo ensure that free monies are available in each fiscal
year to meel any foreseeable contingency. The Irusleès consider that il would b8 prud8nt to Sat asid&
an amount equivalent lo 3-6 months. operating expen(Jtture. The value of this will be calculated using
an average of 3-6 months running cosls based on the currenl annual budget. This is reviewed on
quarterly basis. Al the end of 2023124. Ihe actual level of reserves li.e.. unrestricted funds le$$

Golng Concern
After making further appropriate enquirl8s. the Twslees have a reasonable expectation that the

reason, they continue to adopt the goin9 con¢om basis in preparing th8 financial statements.
FUTURE PLANS
The Iruslee board for 2024125 continues lo priorilise developing a $u$tainable service that meets the
needs of our clients. The charity will build on the work completed in the previous fiscal year lo develop
(Jiversified funding streams Ihal will increa$0 our sustsinability and enabl8 us lo build a diverse
service Ihal 18 responsive lo client needs.
The charity will continue lo work lo ensure Ihal il delivers a e0s1aeff￿tive service, meaning that we arè
not only offering value fof money to OLtr existing funders bul Ihat we have a viable offer. whilst nevor
compromising on Ihe hwJh-quality service that our clients expeet and de$eNe.
