The Trustees present their annual report together with the financial Slalemenls of the charity for the year 6 April
2Q23 to 5 April 2024.
Objectives and activities
Policies and objectives
The Objects are such purposes which are exclusively charitable according lo the laws of England and Wales as
the Trustees may al their dis¢relion think fil.
The Trustees musl use the income and may use the capi181 of the Charity in promoting the Objects bul no part of
the income or capitsl of the Charity may be used for the benefit of any of the Settlors or any spouse or civil
partner of any of the Selllors.
In selling objectives and planning for aclivilies, the Trustees have given due consideration to general guidan
published by the Charity Commission relating lo public benefit.
b. Maln activities undertaken to further the charlty's purposes for the public benefit
The Charity made a donation of £140,482 12023.. £865,057) during the period. The donation was lo
Addenbrookes Charitable Trust, towards a new children's hospital based al Addenbrooke's Hospital in
Cambridge.
Achievements and perfomiance
a. Review of activities
During the year the charity received interest of £3,235 12023 £1.7581. The charity no longer holds any fixed
asset Inveslmenls, therefore Costs of managing the investment portfolio were £Nil12023 £7961.
Support and Governance costs were £1.80012023 - £9241. Donations recieved were £108,00012023- £28,326).
gift aid receivable was £27,000 12023.. £7,0821 and donations made were £140,482 {2023 - £865,057). This
resulted in the Trust free reserves al the year-end of £2,11812023 £6,165>.
b. Investment policy and performance
The Trustees are mindful that a prudent and conservative investment policy is the most appropriate for the
Charity. Accordingly. the investment of reserves is made through interest bearing deposits with major banks.

Financial revlew
a. Going concern
After making approporiale enquiries, the Trustees have a reasonable expectation that the charity has adequate
resources lo Continue and that donations from the trustees and their family will ¢onlinue, meaning the Charity will
remain in operational existence for the foreseeable future. For this reason, the Iruslees continue to adopt the
going con¢ern basis in preparing the financial slalements.
b. Reseryes Dolicv
No minimum level of reserves has been sel as all income of the Charity is to be dislTibuled in accordance with
the charity's objectives, nel of any governance costs, as and when such suitable projects arise.
Structure* governance and management
a. Constitution
The Pemberton Family Charitable Trust is a registered unincorporaled charity, number 1140888, and is
consliluled under a Trust deed dated 11 February 2011.
b. Methods of appointment or electlon of Trustees
Future trustees musl be appointed by resolution of the Trustees passed al a Iruslees, meeting. Every future
Trustee musl sign a declaration of willingness lo act as a Trustee of the Charity before he or she may act as a
Trustee. Training is given as necessary on appoinlmenl.
Organisational structure and declslon-maklng policies
A¢cording lo the governing document there shall be between three and seven Trustees, or a sole corporate
Iruslee. The trustees musl hold al least two meetings each year. A quorum al a meeting of the Trustees is two
Trustees {or. in the case of a sole corporate Iruslee, one) and every issue may be determined by a simple
majority of the voles cast al a meeting of the Trustees. A written resolution which is signed by all the Trustees is
as valid as a resolution passed at a meeting.

Plans for future periods
The Charity's aims for the future are lo collect more donations and lo decide on the designation of the funds.
The Iruslees will favour applications from projects which advance health or save lives, advance education or
promote amateur sport., in which case applications will be considered on their merits.

IAc¢ounls and Reports) Regulations 2008 and the provisions of the Trust deed. They are also responsible for
safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and dele¢lion of
fraud and other irregularities.

General information
The Pemberton Family Charitable Trust is an unincorporated charity registered in the UK. number
1140888, wrth registered Offi￿ located al Trumpinglon Hall.Granlchesler Road Trumpinglon, Cambridge,
C82 9LH.
Accountlng policies
2.1 Basis of preparatlon of financial statements
The financial slalemenls have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP IFRS 1021
Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Statemenl of Recornmended Practice applicable lo charities
preparing their a¢¢ounls in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK
and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 leffeclive 1 January 20191. the Financial Reporting Stsndard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 and the Charities Act 2011.
The Pemberton Family Charitable Trust meets the definition of a public benefit entity under FRS 102.
Assets and liabilities are initially recognised at historical cost or transaction value unless otherwise
slated in the relevant accounting policy.
2.2 Going concern
The Trustees are confident that the charity has adequate reserves and resources lo continLJe
operations for the foreseeable future and is well palced lo manage ils business risks suc¢essfully.
For this reason, they continue lo adopt the going concern basis in preparing the financial stalemenls.
2,3 Income
All income is recognised once the charity has entillemenl lo the income. il is probable that the income
will be received and the amount of income receivable can be measured reliably.
Income lax recoverable in relation to donations received under Gift Aid or deeds of covenant is
recognised al the lime of the donation.

2.4 Expenditure
Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or conslruclive obligation lo transfer ewnomic benefit
lo a third party. il is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in selllemenl and
the amount of the obligation Can be measured reliably.
Expenditure on raising funds includes all expenditure incurred by the charity lo raise funLls for its
charitable purposes and includes costs of all fundraising a¢livilies events and non-charilable trading.
Expenditure on charitable activities is incurred on directly undertaking the adivilies which further the
charity's objectives, as well as any associated support costs.
Grants payable are charged in the year when the offer is made except in those cases where the offer
is conditional. such grants being recognised as expenditure when the Conditions allaching are
fulfilled. Grants offered subject lo conditions which have not been met at the year end are noted as a
commitment. bul not accTued as expendrture.
All expenditure is inclusive of ir￿Coverable VAT.
2.5 Interest receivable
Interest on funds held on deposit is included when receivable and the amount can be measured
reliably by the charity., this Is normally upon nolificalion of the interest paid or payable by the institution
¥Mlh whom the funds are deposited.
2.6 Investments
Cash on deposit which the charity expects lo relain for investment purposes for al least 12 months
from the balance sheet date is classified as fixed asset investments.
Investments held as fixed assets are shown at cost less Provision for impairment.
2.7 Liabilities and provisions
Liabilities are recognised when there is an obligation al the B81ance Sheet dale as a result of a past
event, it is probable Ih8t a transfer of economi¢ benefit will be required in selllement. and the amount
of the settlement can be estimated reliably.
Liabilities are recognised al the amount that the charity anticipates f( will pay lo settle the debt or the
amount il has received as advanced payments for the goods or setvices il musl provide.
2.8 Financial instruments
The charity only has financial assets and financial liabilities of a kind that qualify 8s basic financial
instruments. Basic financial instruments are initially recognised al transaction value and subsequently
measured al their selllemenl value with the exception of bank loans which are subsequently
measured al amortised cost using the effaclive interest method.
