OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Objectives and aims
The principal purpose of the charity is to advance the Christian faith, aecording to the principles of the Baptist
denomination, including the advancement of education, communty servicè and other such general charitable purposes
in the United Kingdom and th8 worfd, as detemiined by the Church. In order to achieve this principal oblective, the
Church provides a variety of activities both lo (ts membership and to the community generally. The airn is to demonstrate
the love of God in words and actions.
Central to the work of the Church is the provision of regular Services of Christian worship. These take place in the Chapel
on a Sunday morning las adverb'sed outside the church, on the intem818nd the local Community Diary), and streaming
to Zoom for thosè who are unable to be physically present owing to ill health. Sunday moming services include speC￿fiC
provision for children and young people in age appropri8le groups. The Church is commitied to being welcoming and
friendly towards all members of the community and to that end holds a once a month 'Haven Sunday. Servi￿ which is
modelled on our wellbelng space (see below).
For the growth of faith 8nd discipltrship, the Church holds a number of small groups, nornially in the hornes of members.
A group for secondary school aged children which inoludes young people frotn other land nol churches has continued tts
meeton Friday aftemoons in Haverfordwest.
In order to enable the fulfilmont of the ¢harity's principal objectives, members are encouraged to volunteer their gifts,
abilities and lime. They duly share in the activities of the Church, alongside the Minister, in activities such os leading
public worship and 5rnall groups, children's work, pastoral care, mission, and maintaining the property of the Church in
whi¢h meetings are h8ld land graveyard), The Church is also responsible for Thè Help Charity Shop in a nearby vill8ge
which is staffed by volunteèrs from the church and local corllmunity and which generates money ft>r charitabl$ causes in
the United Kingdom and abroad. Th& Help Charity Shop also provides a valuable 'meeling placo, for its neighbourhood,
especially for those who ar8 vulnerable. The Haven, a weekly aftemoon wellbeing café in the chapel (run In associats'on

All activities of the Church operate in line with Safeguarding Policies and PrOCedu￿S including the requirement that all
who work w*th children and vulller8ble adults are appropriately vetted wth regard to the OisclosLtre and Barring Service.
In addition, the chU￿h is actNely involved in considering its rasponse to issues such as racism, the climate crisis, and
other justice issues (including being a Fairtrade Church). This is in line wlh our commitment lo being welcoming to all
and taking sertously a responsibility to accompany that commitment action.
The trustees have Tead the Charity Commission guidan¢8 on publle benefit, and are satisfied that tho advsbes outsined
abova cl8arty demonstrate that the charity is providing a benefit lo the public.
ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
Achievements and performance
The Church dtsès not measure the success of ils programmes only in numbers, including finanei81 numbers, but also in
less tangible areas like fellowship and encouragement. The Trustees recognise that these are difficult to rneasurts, bul
believe Ih8t 2023 was a positive year in the life of the ¢hurch.
During the year soverdl new families began to loin us Dn SL)ndays. One committed mernbgr died, and contact continued
with a large number of ogulars who are not formally members, bul are considered part of the Church. Numbers
remained steady on Sundays and Iruslees were encouraged by the ways in which the Church had continued to sustain
worship and support of each other and the community. Vacancies remained on the Trustee Board and recruitment eiforts
continued.
Community engagement continu8(J throughout the year. especially through The Haven and the Help Charity Shop. The
Remembranco Service lin collabor8tion with Broad Haven School), Candlelit Carols and the Stable Trail continued lo be
well supported. The Church garden is no longer usèd by the Playgroup meeting in thts adjoining Village Hall who have
moved lo new premises bul the garden remains open to all in the community. In addition, the Playgroup has continued lo
make use of thts chapel buildiw for special oc¢asions such as Christmas and to support the devtslopment of the children
through learning about the work of ltte chap¢l and Christian festivals. In April a collaborative expressive arts and justice
project was held with the local primary school (Letters for C￿atiOn1. which involved an exhibition,. visits from the local MP
and other community stak8holders,' alld worf( with children in school. For the first lime in many years, a three day holiday

FINANCIAL REVIEW
Flnancial review
The Church continues to raise the funds which it needs to carry on Its actwities from wthin its own membèrship and

The Church also express&d its part in the lrfe of thg wder church by making gr3nts to nab.onal and intsrnational Christian
organisations and societies with Christian aims and objectives compatible with the Church's own charitable purpose.
The Church is heavily dependent on its memb8rship wort(ing as volunteers in all aspects of the Church's acti¥￿es. mBny
