Re8￿ctive The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of Ihe accounls.
responsibilities of The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year
trustees and examiner under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an
independent èxamination is needed.
It is my responsibility to..
examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act,
to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the
Charity Commission (under section 145151(b) of the Charities Act, and
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basls of Independent My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given
examinerfs statement by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the
accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts
presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual
items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from Ihe
truste8s concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not
provide all the evidence that would be required in an audrt. and
consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'tfue
and fair, view and the report is limited to thosè matters set out in the
statement below.
Independent In connedion wrth my examination, no material matters have come to my
examine¢8 Statement attention which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect,:
the accounting records were not kept in a￿ordanCe with section 130
of the Charities Act., or
the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or
the accounts did not Gomply wrth the applicable requirements
con￿mIng the fomi and content of accounts set out in the Charities
(Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement
that the aGcounts give a 'true and fair, view which is not a matter
considered as part of an independent examination.
I have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to
which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper
understanding of the accounts to be reached.

Happy Endings Rescue (Charity No: 1140628)

## Trustees Report 2023 – 2024

2023 was a sad me for all at HER. In March our rescue cow ‘Hope’ passed away. She was a long term resident of over 10 years and was one of our popular sponsor animals. Hope will be missed by all the team and supporters.

Also during the year, we had the sad loss of an adoptee and supporter. Their family, with great strength and courage went on to fundraise over £2,000 for the charity by compleng the walk of Mount Snowdon. Their generosity is greatly appreciated and will not be forgoen.

With our currents Vets being moved over to a corporate associaon, we felt that it was a good me for us to move all our animal veterinary care to Swale Barn Veterinary Clinic. Swale Barn are an independent vets which will provide improved hospital care and financial benefits to the charity. We are looking forward to building on this new relaonship.

HER are again this year a chosen charity of Pets At Home with donaons of food and pet supplies generously being given on a regular basis via our local store.

The fundraising partnership with Hardman Solicitors has connued again this year. This is fantasc news as the connued support is such a great help to the charity.

Surprise donaons didn’t stop there, as our local Marks & Spencer’s kindly donated a huge amount of surplus dog food! This was most welcome as the number of dogs coming for rehoming is increasing.

changes it was impossible for the charity to take these dogs in. However, we were able to offer advice and support to owners on how to proceed and try and keep their dogs at home legally.

## **Rescues & Rehoming**

It was a slightly quieter year with animals entering the rescue, with 282 entries. 233 animals were rehomed and an addional 33 were fostered.

pregnant being recovered from a home due to ill health. The second was the rescue of 35 Yorkshire Terriers from a home where the owner was deceased. This story was quite unusual and even made local TV and newspapers. Happy to say that all the animals from these two cases were treated, rehabilitated and rehomed.

## **Other**

The 2023-24 Annual General Meeng was scheduled for November 2023 but unfortunately had to be postponed due to adverse weather condions. A new date is yet to be agreed.
