The trustees present their report and accounts for the charitable trust for the year ended 5 April 2024. 

## **1.   Legal and administrative** 

The full name of the charitable trust is Plum Layton Charitable Trust but it also operates under the name "Plum's Fund".  It is governed by its Declaration of Trust dated 1 February 2011 and the requirements of Charity Law. 

## **2.   Aims and organisation** 

The charitable trust was registered on 22 February 2011. 

It is currently run by six trustees who meet twice a year.  The minimum number of trustees is 2 and the quorum is one third of the number of Trustees or two Trustees, whichever is greater and present at the meeting.  The trustees are provided with the necessary information to fulfil their roles, including Charity Commission guidance. 

## **3.   Activities** 

The main activities of the charitable trust are to hold funds and apply them generally for all charitable objects; and to support individual activities which in themselves fulfil a charitable object. 

## **4.   Achievements and Performance** 

The charitable trust continued to raise funds during the year.  A large donation of shares was received of £166,632 in July 2023 from James Layton, trustee. 

Donations of £40,000 were made towards the cost of research within the Pancreatic Cancer Research Team lead by Dr Harpreet Wasan. 

## **5.   Review of financial position** 

The charity's income for the year was £208,915 (2023 - £61,809 for fourteen months) and expenditure was £45,486 (2022 - £58,637 for fourteen months), with investment purchases of £299,685 during the year. 

The charity cash & investment funds were £342,440 at 5 April 2024 (2023 - £179,012).  The charity's policy is to build up a long-term sustainable fund so that the work of the charity, particularly annual grants into research into a cure for Pancreatic Cancer can be maintained.   The charity will use some of its donations to invest in longterm sustainable funds, managed appropriately by Rathbones Group Plc, with the income yield donated for the purposes of pancreatic cancer research.

I report to the trustees of Plum Layton Charitable Trust on the examination of the accounts 5 April 2024 for the period ended for the charity number 1140546 

## **Responsibilities and basis of report** 

As the charity trustees of the charity, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ("the Act"). 

I report in respect of my examination of the charity's accounts carried out under section 145 of 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. 

## **Independent examiner's statement** 

I have completed my examination.  I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect: 

- accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Act or 

- the accounts do not accord with the accounting records 

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
