volunteers. that offers a safe and secuTe meetiDg place on the Higb Stjret where people ¢an r￿d friendship
and support. We aim to provide g(MxL whol&soroe f(y)d at low prices and we bave many regular vi5itotS.
The Café holds an "Excellenf, ￿]ng for Food Hygiene fro￿ Fa%t Hampshire Distri¢t Council and all the
volunteers teceive accredi￿d F<KKI Hygiene training in ho￿* in order to keep costs down. Et is used a5 the
'pick up. and'thop 0￿ ￿]ll1 for the local Age Concern each wttk. Groups also meet regutarly in
the Café.
We maintsin an Infor￿atiOn Desk that is staffed by volun*ers from 9..30 to 3..30 pm Monday to Friday.

essential to many people and widely appreciated.

Up uniil November 2023, we provi(kd an aTEnual scbcdule of thtings for tbe Over 65s. Many older people
in the town may not be able to get oul to meet other people, s￿￿11$¢ or even go shopping. This pro￿amMe
is desigoed for them, and we were able to take up to 10 pwple at a lime, with support from our volunteers. It
was agreed to merge our (htings with those beitig run by Age Coo¢ern, and to &S5i5t tbem with the increased

W¢ aim to be a focal wint for volllll￿ry activity in the in¢ludtng giv]ng youngsters over 16 experi￿
of voluntary servi¢¢ (¢.g. in th¢ Café). and we sumyortvoluntrers with learnillg disabilities.
We work with voluntary groups in the towll (o encourage and provide illforll￿ti0ll about services in the area.
In addition to welcoming groups to w¢ Wititott House as a base OD, say, th¢Er cbarity collection days, we ty

July but remains os a volunteer. We welcomed Stephen Brow￿ David Kidd and Mike Waddington as new

renovate sO￿e of the flats. The Board also began the proce55 of se¢uring planning pern]ission to retlovate the

Demand for ROO￿ lllre has returned to pre covid lev¢b. The Cornrnuniry Café continues io be very N)pular and

Strawberry Tea Paty July 2024 was a vglulltttt Celebration tea party. Catiin and Will. local stydents, provtded

Memory Café
The Memory Café continU&S to weet on the third Wethiesday of each month and has brought pleasure to people
living with dementia and their car¢r5. In January we said goodbye to Trevor. a reguIar attendee fro￿ when we
r￿St started who loved to sing, but his widow MaTgaTet is now one of voluntrers. We have been joilled by
voluuteer Chrisiille Day.
A highlight of the year Ims been our participation in the Dementia Festival. Origllmlly platwed foT June it was
rescheduled for October.
Our monthly ￿eetitig9 have a theme and this year they have ranged frorn School Days to Sheep. from Frdnce to
the Seaside. Sometimes we have made use of the garden and Jenny h&8 rllade cakes tbat nfle¢t our theme.
Thanks go to Richard Barnes who le•1% out STngJng on his guilar and Phil RuwlL who produces a quiz eyery

A difficult start w the year as we lost the whole ofmarch foT due w the bad weather. However. after a
yesr's sabbatical we were able to enter Pet¢r8field in B1￿M agaiti and rnanag￿ to get a gold iti our Catrgory.

There has been much publicity iti the pre&8 and on tbe ￿le￿i00 about the benefits of gardening for both
physical and mentaI health. This led to the gardellin8 (eam gaining severa] new voluntecrs to help and enjoy
the walled garden. Our thanks io the volunteers.. Penny Evan& Mike Fowler, Ann Johnson, Tom King, Denis
Lce and Jenny TÉckner WI￿ have been WOTkwg hard when the weather pennitsj to rn8k¢ the garden a pleasant
place to visit.
The Teplantsng of the border by tbe wall which came dowo last ye4r has flourished and will continue to improv¢
as the shrnbs becojlle ¢stsbEished. It is ditTi¢ult to believe i( looked like a building sÉte early last year.
The latest prtsject is the revamping of the comFK)St area. 2 compost bins were donated to us wlLich means the
garden refuse be more contained.

In accordance with the Articl£s of Association, Wlnton House Centre (WHC) has the power to deposii or inv¢st
funds. The purpose of this Investment Policy is to yield the best f]nan¢ial return oll our investments which Can
then be used to fither WHC'S Cbaritable Objects, while doing so at a level of risk agreed by the majority of
Tnjstees.
The investment Folicy is to be managed by the Buildings & FllJaTrce Sub-cotllmittee IB&FC) which is
accountable to the Board of Tnjsttts. The B&FC will meet at least twice a year to consider whether the invest-
ment policy remains appropriate to the requirements of WHC.
