In 2023. MTV-SAF has dellvered an amblllous programme of activities In multsple lerrltories. This has included
major new media campaigns In South Afrlca, Indla, and Nlgeria, as well as the crealion of a new brand of
content, IN BLOOM. focused on global gender equallty. Crltlcally, we also finalised Ihe recruilmenl of a new
Executive Director. Wame Jallow. who will18ad us to new helghls In 2024. It has been a hlghly successfvl year,
and we are grateful to 811 our partners. all over the world, for helplng lo make It posslble.

2023 has been an intensive year In South Africa, includlng th8 producllon and d15trlbulion of MTV Shuga Down
South Season 3. The campaign. funded by Un51aid and the Anglo-Am&rfcan Foundation, has foGu5ed on HIV
pr8v8nllon, IncludSng demand-gen8ration messaging for Prevexposure Prophylaxis {PreP}. an Innovalive
mediclna that pr8venls people from gelttng HIV. In addluon, the content ha8 Included messaging on luberculosls
and substance abuse. and Ihelr Inlersectlon with HIV.
The campalgn was princlpally bulll around the production of a multi-episode TV drama 68rl83, accompanlèd by a
dfverse range of addltlon81 modla compDnenls, Includlng a radlo series, digital content, and a graphic novel. The
TV serle8 W88 disldbuted by muluple platforms, Indudlng SABC 1, the princlpal terreslrial broadcaster In South
Afrfca. as well a8 eTV. Soweio TV, and others. On SABC 1 alone. Ihg cont8nl attracted weekly vlows of over 1.5
milllon.

Saharan Africa. In 2023 we undertook dlverse actlvitles, including the dellvery and broadcast of the second

and contlnued into June 2023. Desplla b8lng a r8latlvely new territory for MTV-SAF, we are now reachlng

MTV Nishedh Season 2 reached more than 3 milllon on Indian broadc8St platforms. with a further 2 mllllon on
online plalfomis likg YouTube. In addition, our digitsl plattorms dellvered a range of broader content, Includlng
short-fom digltal assets such as PSAS, wlth substantial reach and engagement. This included more than 90
million digital views. a reach of over 128 mllllon, and over 13 million engagements. Our success on]Ine In Indla

Crilically. Independent research conllnues to show the power of our approach. Mfv Nishedh Season 2 Included
safe and legal abortion as a central message and research has shown that those messages did connect wilh our
audiences. Women who watched Iwo or more eplsodes were associated wllh 5.5x the odds of consldering

partnership with UP-and￿0mlng female filmmakers, we are creating Ihoughl-provoking films about gender.
economic and social empowemienl, heallh, and well-being. With mass dislribulion on Paramount Global
platforms and beyond. we can reach global audiences and. through the power of immersiv& storytelllng, ralse
awareness of the systemic injustice and social and gender norms that Toinforce inequality.
We entered production of the IN BLOOM pllot serleg in 2023. Wlth the generous support of the Blll and Mellnda
Gates Foundation, we recruited five female filmmakers from Nigeria, Kenya. India, USA. and Brazil. The films
will follow female character8 on the brink of life-definlng moments, surrounding Ihemes such as period poverty.

We are really excited about the prospect of IN BLOOM and, should the pilot be successful. the programme will

organisalions share staff members with the UK charity. and some of the UK charity's Trustees also serve as
Trustees for the US and South African entities. More details of this can be found In note 19.

encompass ambitious (x)mmunity education programmes In Soulh Afrlca and NwJeria. a new dtgilal-focused
campaign in India, and the woduction and dislribulion of a new IN BLOOM series In the USA, focused on
reproductive fr88dorn. Critically, we will also r8bJrn to Kenya. the site ol.the very first MTV Sh￿a serfes, in our
most ambltious programme yel.
South'Africa is our most eslabllshed terrilory for communlty educatlon and In 2024 we wlll deepen our work there
further. Leveraging established partnerships wlh local NGOS and existing educatlon guides and media. we wlll
go into a host of commu￿tIeS armj deliver communty engagement through a range of slrategle8. This will
include small group education delivered across muliiple sessions by young peer educators. as well as ma88
$￿enIng events in schods and Communit￿$.
In Nlg8rla, we will also design a peer educatlon currlculum, for NGOS and broader slakehclders to use to dellv8r
Immerslve community engagement, built arourKI MTV Shuga Content. In addltion. laveraglng our Increasing
dlgital foolprlnl In Nigeria. we will invest in a raThJe of short fom content. maintalntng our social and dlgll
engagement on a Consistent. sustained basis. Thls I￿11 include the creatlon and distribullon of an exlended PSA,
focused on HIV mes$&JlrKJ.
In Indla, we wlll begin the production of MTV Nlshedh Season 3. Bullding on our expandlng dlgltal audlence$
and trends that show that media consumptlon wlll Increa￿[￿lY lake place online. the campaign wdl b8 do8ign•d
wlth dlgilal formats at Ils cenlre. This represents a ￿81 innovation for MTV-SAF campaigns. which have
traditionally been bullt around a TV drama series. The re5u115 could have $ignifi¢ant impll¢atlon$ for our glob81
campalgns.
We ￿1[ also continue to develop IN 8LOOM brand. Thls wlll include the broadcast of th8 pilot series, as well
as the productlon of a major new series In the USA. focused on reproductive freedom. Content y￿[1 include

awareness of issues surroundlng reprtsjucttvo freedom. buifd empathy for those most Impacted, and 8ttmulate

Finally. lo Kenya. The ¢ounlry was the location of the first and second MTV Shuga campaigns. Because of th18,
the country has held a special place In MTV Shuga's history. and we have maintained a loyal loral following. We
h8ve been exploring opportunities to take our work backlor several years and now, with fuTrJlng from
consortium of lunders, Incl￿JIr￿j the Blll and Melinda Gatos F¢)undation, we have the funds to dellver our most
expansive campaign yeL

rolling content production {beyond 2024). encompassing TV dramas. comic books, radio. social and digital,

Two of the Charitys truslees are also trustees of Staying Alive Foundation Inc incorporated in the United
Stales of Amelica. One of the Charivs trustees Is also trustee of MTV Staylng Allve Foundation in South
Africa.
At the year end. the Charity owed £280,360 to sta￿ng AIIv8 Foundation Inc12022.' the Chadty was owed
£4.619 by Slaying Alive Foundation Inc) and sales were made to Ihem of £nil 12022.. £654). Employee
costs 01 £46,71412023:£nill ware recharged by Staying ASve Foundation Ino lo th8 Charity.
The Charlty owed MTV Staying Alive Foundatlon SA £nll at the year end {2022: £19.H8) and made
purchases from them of £nil12022: £10,619).
It should also be noted that the Charity is assoclaled wllh Paramount Global through the receipt of
valuable In-klrKI support on a daily basls. Donations in klnd of £24,989 12022.. £30.568) and cash
donations of £191,52712022: £nlll were made to assist with the runnlng of Ihe Charlty. At the year end an
outstsndlng balance was owed lo the Charity of £33,83412022: £17,751).
