Summary of the main
achievements of the charity
during the year
l. The Chartty's acttvities in 2023 were exclusively to make grants lo
Butoke. a non-governmental organisation in the Democratic
Republic of the Congo (-DRCJ.
2. BLrtoke operates in the Western Kasai region of the DRC. The
Westem Kasai lacks infrastruclure.. metalled roads are few and far
belween and stale run educational and health facililies are of poor
qualty andlor nol accessible lo those living in povety.
3. Butoke has a particular interest in the rights of women and girls
vtho are often marginalised by society and treaied as having
fewer rights than men and boys.
Againsl this backdrop the achievements of the Charity this
year have been to part fund educational and health facilities which
are accessible lo even the POOTesl residents of the area in which
Butoke operates and also to part fun(J a project to assist the
wctims of rape - the -Elsa Corp Justs.￿ Project".
5. As in the previous year. the Jusiice Project has worked with a
number of impoverished rape victims. It has provided them with
the necessary legal and medical assistance. and has also
assisted them wth clothing. focKI and. wthere necessary,
relocalion.

## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and independent examiner** 

I report to the trustees on my examination of the financial statements of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 31[st] December 2023. 

As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). 

## **Independent examiner's statement** 

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s financial statements carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. 

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect: 

- accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Act or 

- the accounts do not accord with the accounting records 

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
