TRUSTEES REPORT (INCLUDING DIRECTORS' REPORT) FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 AUGUST 2025

The Trustees present their annual report and financial statements for the year ended 31 August 2025.

The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out in note 1 to the financial statements and comply with the charity's governing document, the Companies Act 2006, FRS 102 "The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland" and the Charities SORP "Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)".

Structure, governance and management

Legacy Project Limited is a UK-registered charity operating as a charitable company limited by guarantee. Trustees are appointed through nomination and consensus by existing board members based on alignment with the charity’s mission and demonstrated commitment to youth empowerment. Governance is overseen by the board of trustees, with strategic input from core project teams and international ambassadors. All trustees give their time voluntarily and receive no financial benefits from the charity.

Sub-committees and ad hoc working groups are formed as needed to deliver programme outputs, including ambassador development, event planning, and partnership engagement.

Volunteers play a vital role in our operations, particularly for the Global Youth Awards. This includes support from trustees, judges, performers, sound engineers, photographers, and event support teams. We were fortunate to have had 30 dedicated volunteers during this financial year, contributing to the delivery of high-quality events and programming.

Our aims and objectives

Legacy Project is a not-for-profit charity established in 2010 with a mission to support youth and empower communities. Our core purpose is to increase accessibility, unlock potential, and equip young people for employability and lifelong impact.

We provide platforms and support that enable young people to build confidence, develop key skills, and contribute to planet-conscious initiatives. Through this work, we aim to nurture a generation of socially responsible, creative, and empowered young leaders.

Our vision is to empower young people aged 11–25 worldwide to lead in creativity, education, leadership, and environmental action, creating lasting social impact.

“If you have ever looked at the world and felt this pull to do something about a global issue you care about, The Legacy Project is the place to go. My experience joining the non-profit has been an eye-opening and life-changing one because you will meet so many like-minded people ages 11-25 who are actively working on solutions, and gain access to mentorship and opportunities to turn what you initially think is an "ambitious idea" into real, tangible action. All of us are simply people who care about an issue and stepped up to learn, grow, and help. The Legacy Project and our ambassadors are here to help you.”

Moi Marquez - Founder of EmpowerED, a free resource hub and The Better Tomorrow Club.

Expanding the Global Youth Awards

During 2025–2026, we will continue to grow the Global Youth Awards by increasing participation across Europe and newly engaged countries worldwide. Building on previous successes, we will host a global digital celebration in November 2026, recognising and showcasing outstanding young changemakers and their contributions to society. This event will provide an international platform for youth achievement, innovation, and leadership.

• Strengthening our Global Songwriting Competition

Following a successful launch last year, we will deliver the second year of our international songwriting competition. The competition encourages young people from around the world to express themselves creatively through original music that promotes positive social messages and global citizenship. We aim to increase participation, amplify diverse youth voices, and provide opportunities for young artists to share their perspectives with a wider audience.

University Partnerships for Educational Access and Opportunity

We are strengthening our collaboration with QS Universities and students which participating in the Future17 Programme, supporting sustainability-focused projects aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Alongside this work, we aim to expand partnerships with universities and educational institutions to create more accessible pathways into higher education, skills development, and employment. These collaborations will provide mentoring, learning opportunities, project support, and clearer transitions into professional careers.

Strengthening the Global Change Ambassador Programme

Legacy Project currently supports over 90 Global Change Ambassadors across multiple countries. During the year, we will continue expanding our network by engaging with local, national, and international organisations. We are also strengthening our mentoring programme through enhanced safeguarding procedures, improved volunteer support, and structured monitoring systems to ensure positive outcomes for both mentors and young people.

• Launching the Global Youth Hub

A major priority for 2025–2026 is the launch of the Global Youth Hub, an online platform designed to connect, support, and empower young people worldwide. The Hub will provide access to resources, funding opportunities, training, events, internships, peer learning, mentoring, and e-learning opportunities. It will create a supportive global community where young people can develop leadership skills, share ideas, and deliver impactful community projects.

NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS (CONTINUED) FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 AUGUST 2025

1 Accounting policies

(Continued)

Basic financial assets

Basic financial assets, which include debtors and cash and bank balances, are initially measured at transaction price including transaction costs and are subsequently carried at amortised cost using the effective interest method unless the arrangement constitutes a financing transaction, where the transaction is measured at the present value of the future receipts discounted at a market rate of interest. Financial assets classified as receivable within one year are not amortised.

Basic financial liabilities

Basic financial liabilities, including creditors are initially recognised at transaction price unless the arrangement constitutes a financing transaction, where the debt instrument is measured at the present value of the future payments discounted at a market rate of interest. Financial liabilities classified as payable within one year are not amortised.

Debt instruments are subsequently carried at amortised cost, using the effective interest rate method.

Trade creditors are obligations to pay for goods or services that have been acquired in the ordinary course of operations from suppliers. Amounts payable are classified as current liabilities if payment is due within one year or less. If not, they are presented as non-current liabilities. Trade creditors are recognised initially at transaction price and subsequently measured at amortised cost using the effective interest method.

1.7 Employee benefits

The cost of any unused holiday entitlement is recognised in the period in which the employee’s services are received.

Termination benefits are recognised immediately as an expense when the charity is demonstrably committed to terminate the employment of an employee or to provide termination benefits.

2 Critical accounting estimates and judgements

In the application of the charity’s accounting policies, the Trustees are required to make judgements, estimates and assumptions about the carrying amount of assets and liabilities that are not readily apparent from other sources. The estimates and associated assumptions are based on historical experience and other factors that are considered to be relevant. Actual results may differ from these estimates.

The estimates and underlying assumptions are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Revisions to accounting estimates are recognised in the period in which the estimate is revised where the revision affects only that period, or in the period of the revision and future periods where the revision affects both current and future periods.
