It is my responsibility to= examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Acl. to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145{5llbl of the Charilies Act. and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention. Basis of independent My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given examiner's statement by the Charty Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the tharty and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanalions from the trustees conceming any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fairf view and the report is limited lo those matters set out in the statement below. To promote the efficiency of the Armed Forces of the Crown, by providing facilities for the sport of sailing. 2. To provide community participation in healthy recreation by providing facilities for the sport of sailing. 3. To advance the education and training, in particular for young people. by providing facililies for the sport of sailing. The Club provides recreational sailing for service personnel and service veterans and co-operates with the ASA on training courses. Facilities are provided for service sailing activities and events. The Club actively encourages local as well as more distanl members to participate in sailing. It provides training and courses. both on the water and shore based to meet all levels of experience. The club runs numerous sail training evenls for children and young people with the aim of them achieving recognised RYA levels. Section D Achievements and performance Summary ofthe main achievements of the charity during the year Due to the restrictions caused by COVID 19, the Charily has not been able to run many courses during the year and the ability to organise events was curtailed. Sailing was enabled for members whenever the Governing BodylGovernmenl pemiitted and to facilitate the less experienced and the young, safety boats were provided regularly at weekends and Bank Holidays. The Club also runs less formal sessions with instruclors and safety boats present. These are mainly for children so consist of sailing with some instruction but also including water-based games which all go to build Confiden￿ and experien￿. Some adults also attend and get more formal instruction. Last year our Junior Training week was cancelled due to COVID but this year, more children have applied to participate than ever before. The Club has continued to increase its fleet of boats available for members. with the addition of six Fusions. These boals are also available for the Amiy Inshore Sail Training Centre to use as required. TAR March 2020
