SHPVCS Trustee Report 2023 – 24
At the previous AGM the constitution was successfully amended allowing for additional people to become trustees of the Charity. This has led to a more robust group of Trustees. Having said that the Treasurer then resigned at the end of the financial year, but the Charity managed to maintain a payment schedule in order that volunteers continued to receive their expenses on time.
The service operates over 14 parishes within the South Holland district and receives precept payments from them to finance the service and has a Service Level Agreement with South Holland District Council who also contribute to the funds. This enables us to subsidise the cost of transport to the end user i.e. the patients.
The demand for the service continues to increase with 39 volunteer drivers covering almost 150,000 miles. The continued operation of the reduced fees remains a welcome bonus to most of our customers, although this will need to be reviewed in the near future.
5178 clients , compared to 5032 last year, were taken to appointments, travelling a total of 148,750 miles, over 7000 miles more than the previous year.
We thank our volunteers immensely and value the trust and respect placed in our Charity by patients using the services offered.
Unfortunately our Service Coordinator has elected to step down from his role after many years of reliable and dedicated service. Again work is ongoing to seek a suitable replacement .
Work is ongoing undertaking a review of policies, financial procedures and other documentation.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT
TO THE TRUSTEES OF
SOUTH HOLLAND PARISH VOLUNTARY CAR SERVICE
I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31 March 2024.
Responsibilities and basis of the report
As the charity's trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act').
I report in respect of my examination of the charity's accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145 (5)(b) of the Act.
Independent examiner's statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
-
1) accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 386 of the Act; or
-
2) the accounts do not accord with those records; or
-
3) the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements of section 396 of the 2006 Act other than any requirement that the accounts give a 'true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
