Structure. Govemance and Management
The charity is estsblished as a company Ilmited by guarantee and is governed bythe
Memorandum and Articles of Association dated 30 November 2010. It Is under the control of
the Board of Trustees. New Trustees are appointed by the Board of Trustees.
Objectives and Actlvltles
The charitys objectives are:
The relAef of poverty and need, the protection of health, the advancement of education and the
protection and conseNation of the environment forthe people of Malawl and. in particular. but
not exclusively, in the periphery areas of the Nkhotskota Wlldlrfe ReseNe. by such means as the
Trustees detennine. including the followin*.
1) Improving basic education in needy schools by improving infrastructure and basic
educational support.
2) Improving awareness in environment and wildlife conseNation in and around the
Nkhotakots Wildlife ReseNe.
3} Providing and assisting in the provision of goods. services and resources to enable the
improvement of lives in the local communities both forthe present and the future.
Support wlth Scholastlc Materlals
The Tongole Foundation (fF) contlnued to support three schools in the Nkhotakots district of
Malawi. namely:
Mwalaw8tongole. Chltimani and Chankhokwe Primary Schools.
TF continued to supply scholastic materials includlng exercise books, pens and pencils. sports
uniforms. chalk. dusters and footballs and netballs. This support contlnues to enhance the
teaching and leaming in these schools togetherwlth recreational activitles vla popular sports
such as football and netball.

SuppLylng School Unlforms to needy puplts
23 school unlfomis were provlded to 23 needy leamers (12 bo￿ and 11 glrls) at
Mwal8watongole primary school which was a great relief to thelr parents who could not afford
them fortheir children dueto ￿ck of resources.
Renovations of one teache￿3 house and the l)ulldlng of ono nowteachor's house at
Mwalawatongole Prlmary School
In orderto improve teachers. 8ccommodatlon atthe school. one house was renovated, and 8
new three-bedroom teacherfs house was bullt at the schooL This work has helped reduce
accommodation challenges as te8chers who dld not have local accommodation are now living
at the school whlch provides them with much more time to prepare for their work and not spend
unnecess8ry tlme tr8velllng to the school each day.
Renovatlon 014 classrooms at Mwalawatongole Prlmary School
Two school blocks, each two classrooms were also renovated.
The exlstlng school bulldings were heavily cracked and p08ed 8 danger to the pupll8 and
t88cher8 especlally If 8 Storm hft the area.
The cornmunlty contributed the bricks and 8 volunteer 8roup from the UK, organlsed by TF,
provlded 8 great deal of the financial support for the work. The volunteer group vlsfted the
school in June 2024 to decorate the schools by palntlngthem.
The school now has 8 good classrooms whlchls conduclve to qU8llty learnlng. In the academlc
year 2023124, the school had 907 puplts of ￿1¢h many were attr8Cted to the school because of
the new cl8ssroom8.
Road Safety Awareness for Pupll8
Awareness of road safety law8 and regulatlons continued In 12 schools wlth teachers In these
schools teachlng pupils wlth the use of poster8 and road safety handbooks ￿lCh the TF
provlded.
Due to roadworks on the M5, four schools do not h8ve school patrots to asslst the chlldren;
however, children 8re now able to cross the road through the knowledge they have acquired
from the road Safety lessons which teachers now provide them.
Envlronmentsl Conservatlon Educatlon
The Tongole Found8tion, In partnership wlth Afrlcan Parks. continue to sensltize communltles
borderlng the Nkhotakota Wildlife ReseNe on the dangers of deforestatlon. the poaching of
wlldllfe and the beneflts of the protection and preservation of the environment and wildlife.
The three prlmary schools that the TF supports have active Wildlife Clubs to enable children to
gain the conservation messages through such areas as poems and drama. They also continue
to planttrees in thelr schools.

Plans for the Futur•
The Trustees and Country Director, Bentry Kalanga. have agreed that the main focus for the next
few years is to contlnue wlth the Volunteer Groups °Renovation Schools Project. because of
the poor state of infrastructure in the schools.
A Volunte8r Group Is planned to travel to Malawl In the summer of 2026 wlth a vlew to build a
fourth block at Chankhokwe School.
Continue to enhance learnlng in Road Safety awareness in Prlm8ry Schools.
Contlnue provldlng educatlonal materials forthe learners 8nd teachers in allthree schools.
Continue to 8UPPOrt Imldllfe Clubs in schools.
