Committees
The PCC operntes through 5everdl committees that meet between lull meetings of the PCC and prepare
reports for those full meetings. Emergencies that arise a￿ dealt with by the Standing Committee which
eomprises the Incumbenl Churchvrdrdens Secretary. Treasurer. and one other mernber of the PCC
4)pointed by the PCC.

This is the only committee requlred by law. It has power to trnn5act the buslness of the PCC betsyeen
its meetings. subject to any directyons given by the PCC.
Bulldlng & Flnan¢e Commltt•O
This committee oversees the finance and physical resources of the Church by preparing budgets
monitoring income and expenditure, COaordlnarln¥ an annual review of Christian Stewardship through
planned giving and grft aid, and attendln8to matters relating to the stevrdrd5hip of the Church buildin&
grounds, fabric, and equFpmenL

This committee a¢¢ends to matters relating to the lettln8 and main*nance of the space avallable for
hlre.
Church attendance
There were 139 members of the Church Electoral Roll at the end of December 2020. Due to the
COVID pandemlc and the enforcement of social distancing when services have been possibl4 average
Sunday attsndance in Ottob¢r 2020 Yrds 75, in addltlon to approximately 20 partieip2nts vla Ilvestream.
Dur5ng lockdown Feriod5, a pre-recorded weekly parish eucharist on YouTube atcracted
approximatsly 80 viewings. Collective Worship lor Trinity St Mary's COE Primary Sthool took place
when possible every Thursday tn term-timé. Other servlces. including baptism. weddings. and funerals,
were conducted in the church when permittéd and in keeplng with 8overnment rules on restricted
attendance.
Revlow of tho y•ar
The Mlnlstry Team has undergonè fdriOUS Changes in the course of the year. Due to the pandemic.
the priesdy ordination of the a55iStant curnte. the Revd Berni Excell. vrds delayed untyl October. The
pandemic also promptsd the Reyd Canon William Norman to sop down from pr¢siding at serv¢ces in
the sprin& and 5imilarly* the Revd Eileen Serbutt has dlscontlnued presiding until it is once ardin safe
for her to do 50. The St Mary's community was much grieved at the loss of lay reader Christopher
Serbuti who died after a long illness in December.
Unsurprisingly. the church's misslon and ministry have been dom5nated by the effects of the COVID
FAndemic and the accompanying lockdowns. Key initiatives identylled by the Mission Action Plan. such
as making the church building more welcoming and accessible, reaching out more effectively to the
Immedtate neighbourhood. buildin8 up our ministry to children and famili&s. and expanding
opportunities for spirit￿1 8rowth - all these have necessarily been scaled back or recon5tttuted in
light of the present circum5r2nces. Participation in both in-person and online worship has remained
Ithy and consistenL but engaging with children and families has proved difficult The clergy have
Stayed in regular contdtt with members of the cgmmunity by phow email. and post throughout the
pandemlc, and there has been much mutual care and support among congregants themselve5. A new
website and improved weekly communications have assisted with maints¥ning a dispersed community
during these difficult times. An online Advent course in December Nyas well attended. and online
