## **Kitale School Uganda Chairman’s Report 2020.**

As we all know 2020 was a huge challenge for individuals, organisations and charities alike. A global pandemic gripped us all and sadly has resulted in the loss of many people across the globe.

For Kitale School it meant closure for a large part of the year. It also forced the closure of our UK based charity shop for 5+ months.

We decided to place our onsite staff in Uganda on Furlough. This was funded fully by the charity.

A big concern that remains is the welfare of the school pupils. Many of the 430 children do not get regular meals unless at school. The disruption to education has yet to be gauged as the school has remained forced closed for most of 2021. It is anticipated that a whole new academic year will have to be restarted resulting in the leaving age to be increased.

Teachers have been carrying out home visits to check on welfare.

Financially the school remains on a good footing with continued growth in self sufficiency projects.
