The Cranford Support Trust was registered on 22 December 2010. The charity registration number is 1139445. The Trust’s purpose is the advancement of the Christian faith primarily but not exclusively within Cranford and the surrounding neighbourhood, through the financial support of a full-time minister of the gospel based at Cranford Baptist Church. Robin Asgher has been employed full-time with the Cranford Support Trust since 6 April 2011. Robin Asgher’s role is to fulfil all the duties of a pastor in respect of Cranford Baptist Church including preaching, teaching, leadership, pastoral and children’s and youth work.

The present Trustees are: Mr Gary Brady Chairman Mr David Magowan Secretary / Treasurer Mr Andrew Heron Mr Ron Hollands Mr Geoff Maxted

The trustees met on 2 occasions in the 12 months covered by this report – on 26 September 2024 and 23 January 2025.

Throughout the year, the church met weekly on Sunday mornings and on Wednesdays for Bible study and prayer. A Sunday evening service has also commenced. The church ran a children’s and youth club on Friday evenings, a toddler group on Wednesday mornings, and Sunday School on Sundays. Christian literature was distributed in the local community at Christmas. Robin has taken assemblies in local schools. An Indian (Telagu) church meets in the back hall on Sunday mornings and Robin Asgher has provided some support to its leaders. Asylum seekers staying in a local hotel have been attending the Sunday services and some practical help has been provided to them.

Over the course of the year, Robin Asgher has also been responsible for pastoral care of the congregation of Cranford Baptist Church.

Robin has also worked part-time (employed by the Home Office) as a chaplain at the Immigration Detention and Removal Centres in Colnbrook and Harmondsworth, visiting detainees, holding Bible studies, and distributing Christian literature.
